  • Inserted above code into functions.php to control the length. It works as expected. I wish I could control it by the size of the exerpt by pixel size so all my boxes were uniform in the portfolio.

    adjusting the code to function avia_excerpt($length = 150, $more_text = false, $order = array('more-tag','excerpt')) made no difference to the length of the excerpt at all . Please advise

    My plugin is showing up in the dynamic template, but outside the page width and in the background area. See here.

    The native theme shortcodes as well as the native wordpress shortcodes are working on the following dynamic template. The plugin (ie. All in One Calendar, BBpress, WpUnderground) plugins are not.

    Se the example here http://www.islanddiver.eu/dynamic-template/

    in reply to: bbPress Forum Display Problem #55987

    I have the BBpress plugin working fine in my Shoutbox theme. I had to toggle the settings-permalinks-post name to default and then back to post name. I used the shortcode [bbp-forum-index] to place the forums on my wordpress forums page. I used the default template with the side bar which makes the real estate available for BBpress somewhat small, but also leaves room for the login widget in the sidebar. As the forum was somewhat truncated from not normally fitting into the small space available in the Shoutbox theme default template (with a sidebar) I added the following css to the top of the bbpress.css

    img {
    border: medium none;
    display: inline;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    }

    .entry-content ul li {
    list-style-position: outside;
    list-style-type: disc;
    margin-left: 0px;
    padding: 2px 0;
    }
    .bbp-topic-freshness {
    font-size: 11px; /* size of font for freshness */
    }

    This makes the default theme for bbpress play nice with the amount of space Shoutbox offers.

    You can also add the following css which removes the Name of the poster on the forum page and makes things cleaner in my estimation.

    .bbp-topic-meta {
    display:none;
    }

    No need for a background plugin for a simple large background image behind the site content. You can use the following css

    /* body background */
    html, body{
    background-image:url(../images/your-large-background-image.jpg); /* use an image that fades to the solid background color for best results */
    background-position:top center;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    background-attachment:scroll; /*you can also use 'fixed' for a different effect */
    background-color: #111f2c;
    }

    in reply to: Megamenu re-skin #95430

    I have been using firebug. It works great to shed light on what css is styling particular objects. You can even edit the css rules on the fly. I have now styled the menu to my liking. BTW what are the statistics for browsers in use which don’t support transparent .png? I am using them exstensively in my re-skin.

    To make my megamenu transparent I used the following code which places a semitransparent .png in the background.

    .avia_mega_div, #top .main_menu .avia_mega > li > ul, #top .main_menu .avia_mega > li > ul ul{
    border:1px solid #444;
    background: url(../images/grey.8opacity.png) center center repeat transparent;;
    /*background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #222222;*/
    }
    .main_menu .avia_mega ul{
    background: url(../images/grey.6opacity.png) center center no-repeat;;
    color:#777;
    }

    #top .main_menu .avia_mega div ul a:hover{
    background: transparent;
    }

    #top .main_menu .avia_mega ul ul li, #top .main_menu .avia_mega >li >ul li{
    color:#777;
    background-color: transparent;
    background-image: url(../images/shared/arrow-right-light.png);
    background-position: 6px 13px;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    }

    #top .main_menu .avia_mega div ul li{
    background-position: 0px 10px;
    }

    .main_menu .dropdown_available{
    background: transparent url(../images/shared/arrow-down-light.png) center center no-repeat;
    }

    in reply to: Background image won't fill page. #78565

    What am I missing? I see the set background option for individual pages and posts, but not for the site as a whole. Do I need to set the background image in the css of #wrap_all?

    in reply to: Background image won't fill page. #78563

    I have installed wp-backgrounds-lite. What content container id or class do I use to display this image http://www.islanddiver.eu/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/bubbles_underwater_theme-940×390.jpg

    The original bubbles_underwater_theme.jpg is 1600×1200 but when I upload it through the Shoutbox theme backend (with the background image uploader) the full size resolution becomes 940×360. I would like to fade the edges and bottom of the original size bubbles_underwater_theme.jpg to a dark grey background color so I don’t have to tile it and it will fade nicely into the background color no matter the end users screen resolution.

    What would be the best solution?
