One more thing, I also updated to the latest version of prettyphoto before making these changes. Hopefully this will help out anyone else with this issue :)
I just resolved the issue. After reading the documentation for prettyphoto, I saw that they did this on purpose to allow people to share the individual photos more easily by having a unique URL for each photo. By setting the deeplinking feature to false in prettyphoto.js, it will no longer produce unique URL’s. However, when you click the close button, it still creates one unique URL, so the user still has to push the back button twice. To fix that, I removed the text #!prettyPhoto from line 80 and presto, it’s fixed in current browsers.
1. Set deeplinking to false
2. Remove the text, #!prettyPhoto on line 80
Thanks, that would be great. Unfortunately, I’ve put a ton of time into customizing this theme for a client, only to discover this problem late in development. I really like how the lightbox works, but the site really needs to function properly using just the back button. Most internet browsers/shoppers are going to use it instead of the actual link back to the category.
Thanks for the reply. I discovered yesterday that it doesn’t happen in IE 8 or 9, but it does happen in Firefox 8.0.1, Safari 5.1.1, and Chrome 16.0.912.63. All on Windows 7.
An example would be: http://talinkaandcompany.com/product/babylon-necklace
It would be really great if there was a fix for this problem. Otherwise, it’s really unusable.
