I’ve been a long time user of shoutbox and recently I’ve completed my first enfold site: http://www.playbingo.me.uk/ found it great to use, and very flexible.
Its the depth of the images in the posts with slideshows compared to the depth of posts with single images. see http://www.grandnationalday.co.uk/news/page/2/ and compare sad end for Le Beau Bai post to the rest on the news page. Also you can see that the overlay is quite tight on the width.
I Also just want to add that there are issues with the sizing of the overlays on slideshow when viewed on the blog/category pages. See http://www.grandnationalday.co.uk/news/page/2/ “Sad End For Le Beau Bai” post, the overlay doesn’t cover half the slide show, just about a third of it, making the text quite tight.
We are aware of that solution and would like to avoid it, is there not a way to add a simple function to automatically show excerpts on blog/category pages?
Thanks for that Devin, We still have an issue with slideshow images appearing in different sizes and scales on the blog/category pages. I assume this is to do with the rescaling of different image sizes that were uploaded to the slideshow originally. I know the obvious solution would be to ensure that each image is the same size before uploading but this is time consuming for us and I was hoping there would be a way to automatically rescale images within the slideshow feature. If not is there a way to select a single image for the blog/category pages and still have the slideshow within the actual post?
Thanks for the update – glad you could replicate the problem, hopefully a fix will be found for this soon. I have another slight problem display error – should I add here or create a new topic?
I can confirm that I had no problems with setting up a CDN via WP Total Cache and MaxCDN. All images, thumbs and css are handled by CDN perfectly.
Just remember to pull any custom logo you’ve added from the CDN too.
FYI the CDN knocked about 1.5 secs of load time. and it’s less stress on the server.
Hi Devin, did you get the login I sent you? Have you had chance to look at it yet?
I downloaded lastest version, re-uploaded and still had this problem. I also deactivated all plugins and still had the same problem? ;-( I will try on a clean wordpress install and see what happens.
Think I have traced the issue. I downloaded the latest version of shoutbox from theme forest and compared with the dialog.php Kriesi put up in another thread earlier…
I can see the two dialog.php files vary on these lines…
(DOWNLOADED FROM THEMEFOREST)
When I use the above dialog.php code (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2025095/dialog.php.zip) it all works, when I use (theme forest) preview doesn’t work.
I MUST POINT OUT…
I am using Shoutbox, but obviously the code (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2025095/dialog.php.zip) is meant for Abundance theme. Is there any problem using it on shoutbox???May 14, 2012 at 1:12 pm in reply to: unable to enter shortcodes via the magic wand button #74406May 9, 2012 at 12:50 pm in reply to: unable to enter shortcodes via the magic wand button #74370
I can confirm that I can’t get it working on Hostgator or Page.ly – I don’t want to turn off the mod_security settings but I tried the other ways but no successMay 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm in reply to: unable to enter shortcodes via the magic wand button #74364
I would be good to get this issue wrapped up… I have the same problem and a quick search for ‘shortcode’ also shows other having it too.
Thats great news Kriesi – thanks for update… can you confirm if it’s just the file ‘preview-shortcode-external.php’ that needs replacing or the whole framework folder?
Must admit, it makes me a little nervous too – from what I can tell of the woothemes issue, it’s very easy to add shortcode to a site with the hack.
would like to see a ‘this is absolutely not an issue for our themes’ kinda response.
Thanks rumblefish – but I also wanted to know how to get rid of the band and TEXT… sorry for confusion.
Cheers Devin, good advice and probably worth doing as a precaution until the issue is resolved.
Hopefully get a full answer from Kriesi pretty soon.
I think Vaultpress is flagging this up as the file names of both the woothemes ‘preview-shortcode-external.php’ and ShoutBox ‘preview-shortcode-external.php’ files are the same? the code looks very different.
Here is a page example: http://www.cheltenham-races.com/2012/juniorgoldcuppreprace/ note the black band over the photo, I understand this is because I filled in the ‘description’ box on the media library.
I did this as filling the description box is the only way to get the image ‘alt’ tag working in the source code, I want the alt tag in but not the black band overlayed.
Hope that makes sense?
