    in reply to: Comments margin needs work. #94786

    Hi evanhp,

    For #1, open your custom.css and find this code:

    .template-blog .entry-content {
    float: left;
    position: relative;
    width: 615px;
    }

    The width is what’s causing the comments to push into the sidebar so try changing width: 615px; to width: auto; like this:

    .template-blog .entry-content {
    float: left;
    position: relative;
    width: auto;
    }

    As far as the updating the theme. We do recommend that you keep your WordPress install, plugins and theme up-to-date simply for security reasons. An out of date install of WordPress could result in your website being hacked. That said, here’s some steps to ensure you have less problems when updating.

    - Make sure all CSS customizations are located in the custom.css.

    – Make note of any customizations you did to template files such as page.php, header.php and footer.php.

    – Inside the zip file you download from ThemeForest, Kriesi has included a version log document that tells what files were altered. The safest way to make sure your customizations aren’t overwritten is to manually update. By that I mean instead of overwriting the entire theme only overwrite those files (or folders) listed in the version log.

    – Backup your existing theme and data prior to updating. This way in case anything does happen you can revert back.

    – Take screenshots of your theme options. Again, just in case anything does happen.

    Hope this helps!

    in reply to: header padding #94706

    Hi boudoirs,

    Are you referring to the area with the logo and search box? If so, then you can use this:

    #header.boxed .container {
    height: 200px;
    }

    200px is default.

    in reply to: Getting the following code error when I upload images #94803

    Hi Kercopsg,

    Check to make sure the images you’re uploading are either .jpg, .png or .gif. Also, you may want to check to see how large the photos. For instance if you’re trying to upload a 300 dpi image then you may need to resave as a 72 or 100 dpi image.

    in reply to: Add horizontal footer menu #94744

    Hi Lyse,

    The answer depends on how you created the menu. More than likely though you’ll need to edit the footer.php. How did you create the menu?

    in reply to: Weird code showing post in archive/sitemap #94444

    Hi,

    In the code shown on pastie.org, you’re missing a semi-colon after the get_permalink.

    You have this:

    <?php echo get_permalink() ?>

    And it should be this:

    <?php echo get_permalink(); ?>

    Try that and see if it corrects the issue.

    in reply to: Does Flagship support 2 menus? #94285

    Hi valabou,

    By default, you can add a second menu to the footer widget area or the sidebar. If you wanted to add a menu say to the right of the copyright you would have to modify the footer template.

    Hope this helps!

    in reply to: Child themes / Best practice for updating #94266

    Hi matsaukeo,

    Since you want to play mainly with the CSS, I suggest simply using the custom.css located in /angular/css/. This file is meant to be used for customizations so when Kriesi updates he leaves it alone.

    Also, when Kriesi updates he includes a version log so you know which files were updated. In case you do edit the HTML/PHP then you check this log to see the file was one of the ones updated.

    Let us know if you have any questions.

    Mya

    Hi hedgevault,

    Let see if we can help. :)

    1. Did you change the Frontpage settings under Choices > Theme Options? If not, try that.

    2. Check under Appearance > Menus to see if the sublinks are listed under their “parent” items.

    3. Go to Pages > Add New, click on the magic wand then Sidebar Tabs and follow on-screen instructions.

    4. Go Appearance > Widgets > Choices Google Maps Widget

    Hope this helps!

    in reply to: Plugins #93886

    Hi Zak,

    I’m not familiar with the Cookie Control or Slick Contact Form plugins. I did visit your site and noticed on the homepage the Cookie Control box was at the bottom of the page. Gave me the message “This site uses….”. If I clicked the green gear or the X in the corner the box disappeared. When I visited other pages the box automatically disappeared. Perhaps you clicked one of those or clicked one of the other pages first?

    As far as the Contact Us button, do you have any settings for the plugin that reference frontpage?

    With the Google indexing, the /seo/ forwards to /superb-services/seo-audit/ so I take it you set that up manually which is what I was going to suggest. Typically, once you setup frontpage settings the permalink will change so I’m not sure what was going on.

    in reply to: I can't add images to pages #93869

    Hi trstng,

    A few questions for you. Are you using Media > Add New to add images or are you using “Add featured media” option located at the bottom of pages, posts and portfolio items? You should be using the “Add featured media” area.

    If you are using “Add featured media”, do you receive any errors either when uploading or when viewing the page?

    in reply to: Page titles #93837

    Hi Karen,

    Yes, you would need to add the CSS snippet below to your custom.css (located in /wp-content/themes/flashlight/css/) or your Quick CSS under Theme Options > Styling.

    body.page-id-### .entry-title {
    display:none;
    }

    Since you want to hide the title on a particular page, you’ll want to replace the ### with the page’s ID number. You can find that by going to Pages > click the page > then look in the address bar or Portfolio Items > click the page > then look in the address bar.

    Example of the address bar:

    http://yourdomain.com/flashlight/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit

    You see the post=2? The “2” is the page’s ID number.

    So if you wanted to hide the title on your Who is Karen Cooley Photography page the code would be this:

    body.page-id-272 .entry-title {
    display:none;
    }

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

    Is there a particular server error you’re receiving? I visited your website and theme itself isn’t an issue. By that I mean, the files I reviewed like stylesheet and JavaScripts are available as needed.

    in reply to: Changing Color of Arrow #93491

    Hi,

    You’ll need to upload a new image then add these two snippets to your custom.css or Quick CSS.

    .main_menu .dropdown_available {
    background: url("../images/skin-minimal/menu-arrow-down.png") no-repeat scroll center center transparent;
    }

    #top .main_menu .avia_mega ul ul li, #top .main_menu .avia_mega > li > ul li {
    background-image: url("../images/skin-minimal/menu_arrow.png");
    background-position: -70px -72px;
    }

    Be sure to change the image path.
