Just an FYI
First off, You have a very beautiful site and its sleek!!!
I can’t see the dates. Are you running this site only on large screen monitors? I am at work (19 inch monitor) and the dates and your social icons are being cut off or tucked away in the far left corner.
This is just an FYI.
Ok… It is working (sporiadically). One of my web dev guy here at my job tried it and it worked.
I went back to my computer and had to refresh the browser, then I started to work.
When I opened it yesterday and for the last two weeks, it would not show the images or the content. It would freeze. So, I will try again today. My fingers are crossed but I don’t know why it is happening.
I had already shut down my computer and I will restart IE. thanks again.
I will keep you posted.October 24, 2011 at 12:19 am in reply to: Pages with blog categories showing full articles instead of summaries #54358
I think I have the same issue but the opposite. The blogs are all in one column but it only show one image (featured) and a summary of the blog. This is great. However, now that I am adding more articles, when the customer clicks on READ MORE, it takes them to the first page of the website. It doesn’t open the blog where the content is. Why would this work some of the times?
Also, when I post on this support channel, I never get a respond. If I do, I don’t know where to find it. I don’t even get a notification if anyone did respond.
Also, how can I change my password to something that makes sense to me?
I am not trying to be a pest here but we I can’t afford to change the website now that I purchased this theme.
Sorry to come back to this but the lines between each nav/menu bar is too long. http://www.pictureme2.com
Also, my logo is way to small. Each time I load something bigger, it over take the entire menu tab.
ok I am wrong, I still can’t adjust the spacing of the menu items on my page. However, i will still search the forum.
ok. I guess i will search this forum before posting again! I think i found what I am looking for here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/word-spacing-in-menu#post-21569
I need help with this to. The link daz_smith listed above ( http://www.theclientarea.co.uk/paperworks/index2.html ) is perfect! I seen that page and would like my menu tab spacing smaller.
Help! Anyone there?
Actually, is it possible to have the tweet option and facebook option on this first page? Similar to this:
I like to have this information on the top Right or Left or is this over-the-top?? Thank you for your help.
thank you so much!
I still can’t remove the date on my landing page. This looks like a blog and it should be a website.
I am using a Mac and I don’t know much about FTP.
So are you saying that I should have copied the single.php in notepad, make the changes, and upload it back to???
I am sorry. There is no way I could do that on a mac. I need to use a Windows computer.
oops! Well, I removed the DIV and it still doesn’t work.
Is there another way to remove the dates from the HOME OR LANDINGPAGE?
sorry for the second stupid question but I am pretty much new to .php and I don’t know where the wp-content/themes/habitat folder is.
I am using WordPress and Hostgator is my hosting service.
Do I need to log into cpanel to do this?
ok. I found it. I went into APPEARANCE. I went into EDITOR and selected the SINGLE.PHP.
This is what I found and this is what I removed. Now, would this remove the dates from ALL OF THE blogs and postings?
<span class=’day’><?php the_time(‘d’) ?></span>
<span class=’month’><?php the_time(‘M’) ?></span>
<span class=’year’><?php the_time(‘Y’) ?></span>
this is my site http://www.pictureme2.com
The first page is the static page and it looks like a blog. I would like to remove the following date as you mentioned above.
You stated it should be removed from the blog post and deleted it from the sinle.php??? Did you mean that single.php?
where do I delete it from?
I went into Dashboard
click on the POST
open the post and I don’t see any <div class…etc
I might be in the wrong place. please help.
I will try this now!
I forgot to mention that my website is A STATIC site. My English is not good and I want my site to function as a website with a blog page.
I will try to create WHO I AM page.
I will set that page to FRONT PAGE.
Now, should I also set the BLOG page as the POST PAGE?
I am a beginner and I really appreciate your help!
I am having the same issue. When I created the first post IT appeared on the home/landing page. I want the visitor and clients to see WHO I AM and learn more about WHAT I DO. I Don’t want them to see the BLOG YET! So, the home/landing page is the first thing they see. However, once I added another post, the home/landing page 1st post moved down the blog.
So, I had to create a post with a different category than the others (uncategorized). So, if they Click my ugly LOGO or HOME, they will see the introduction of WHO AND WHAT I DO.
Then, I went to the MainPage Options and EXCLUDE all the categories from appearing on the homepage besides UNCATEGORIZED (silly, right!).
WELL…See, when you go under SETTINGS and click READING
- I clicked on STATIC Page
Front page: on the drop down MENU, I don’t see HOME. So I LEFT that on SELECT
Post Page: well, I selected BLOG from the drop down menu.
Guess what happened, HOME, THE LOGO, AND THE BLOG LOOKED THE SAME.
Does this make sense? http://www.pictureme2.com
Well, after reviewing this support forum thoroughly, I figured out a lot of things.
Yes, I downloaded NextGen gallery and setup several portfolios… Then, I select the page and categories according to its portfolio.
Wow!!!! I might be able to launch my site after all before Easter!
If anyone would like to add other tips and tricks to help me, it would be appreciated!
Would it be easier if I just deleted the entire website and start from scratch?
I want a portfolio or gallery on my website like this?
However, I deleted the menu portfolio already and tried to create a page called “Your Event”.
I am thinking I should start from scratch and just drop and drag my images. Any suggestions?
SRAQA – Hey! Sorry I checked out your site and I see there is a post on the Commodore 64 computer! Cool!
Sorry to post this here but I don’t know how to get in touch or send email to members!
I am sorry but I am here to look for videos on using Habitat. Do we have that or no?
This happened to me too… I wish I could adjust the size of the layout. It’s so wide.
I guess I went a little over my head.
I have to get someone to help me. Do you know how to get to the css. style sheets in WordPress? Is it in the dashboard?
I guess I have to pay someone to help me on this one! hahah
Did anyone respond to you in your mailbox on this? I need the answer to this as well.
I did noticed that if you go into yourwebsite option menu (click dashboard) and scroll down. It will allow you to put up a logo which will remove the Habitat logo and coffee cup.
However, it doesn’t stretch across the top of the page. Also, do you know if there is a way to change the fonts for the “Page Menu Tabs”. Everyone that uses Habitat seems to have the same top menu layout!
This is interesting. Did it work? i will try this as well! thank God i searched for this before starting a new post.
