    Sorry for the triple post.

    Essentially I’ve figured out what is happening, but I now need some help to get it fixed.

    In order to make sure that video appears without black bars on ajax portfolio items (click on TEDx Sydney for an example) . You guys have helped by adding the following code to my custom.css:

    #top.single-portfolio iframe {

    height: 398px !important;

    width: 700px !important;

    }

    #top iframe {

    height: 373px !important;

    width: 700px !important;

    }

    However this code now seems to intervene with the way the lightbox shows video. Could you please help me with a fix that allows the lightbox to display video normally and responsively, while maintaining the fixes we implemented for the video content on normal pages?

    Thanks a million!

    Sorry to double post.

    Also more than happy to have a featured image with a lightbox that plays the video if the above is too troublesome. I’ve tried the lightbox option, but it doesn’t seem to work. The featured image displays fine, but the lightbox does not appear when the image is clicked.

    Thanks!

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks that’s great! Is there a way to add the block between the title and the meta data or even a bit more space. I feel it’s a bit too tight. I mean the bit between Amnesia Showcase and Director: Vikash Autar at http://radicalorange.tv/portfolio-item/amnesia-razorfish-showcase/

    I was also wondering if you have a fix for the email address being cut off in the content box at http://radicalorange.com.au/people/

    The email address (Email address hidden if logged out) is being cut off (the last letter).

    Thanks heaps for all your help!

    Hi Devin,

    I mean that the Ajax items use a different lay out: image on the left and title on the right with text underneath it.

    The non ajax items have the title on top of all the content.

    Compare http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/amnesia-razorfish-showcase/ to the ajax version of the item.

    Does this make sense at all?

    Thanks!

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks for that.

    I’ve changed it to the code you provided, but it still does not work on the portfolio pages that are not on the home page.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Actually it worked, thanks! Would be great if you guys could let me me know if you have any suggestions for the resizing issue?

    I was also wondering if you know how I could display the titles in the non ajax portfolio items appear as the titles in ajax ones. So similar style.

    in reply to: Video Player not resizing properly #103686

    Would that be the #top bit?

    in reply to: Video Player not resizing properly #103684

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

    I think I kind of understand what you are saying. However, I still do not understand why this seems to work perfectly in Nick’s video. Could you please have a look at the video he recorded at https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8hqGBMSfHtKcGRjUzJNcFAxWlU

    I am actually using the same video sizes all across the site.

    Could you please let me know how I get the changes to affect all the portfolio pages and not just the home class one?

    in reply to: Video Player not resizing properly #103682

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks for your reply!

    Nick, however got it working on his test installation, the video resized properly and didn’t introduce black boxes. He recorded this video to show me:

    https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B8hqGBMSfHtKcGRjUzJNcFAxWlU

    The other thing I noticed is that the black borders are smaller if you change the slideshow behaviour to default in the global settings. However, I need to have it on ‘do not show first image’ because I want to show a different featured image that can’t show up on the actual content page (hope this makes sense).

    I also do not understand why the changes Nick helped me to implement in the custom.css only seem to work on the portfolio on the main page, I have portfolios on other pages and they show massive black borders. Please compare the item Tedx Sydney on http://www.radicalorange.tv (in the grid on the bottom) and on http://radicalorange.tv/vikash-autar/ . The first page looks good, while the second page has huge black borders.

    Could you guys please look into it again? Or ask Nick how he managed to get it to work?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Hughjaas,

    The link where you are showing the videos does not work..

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100505

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks!

    However, Nick did manage to get it working perfectly without black borders on his installation so it does seem to be possible.

    Also is there a way to make the ‘fixes’ work on all portfolios? I don’t understand why it only affects the portfolio on the home page and not the ones on other pages.

    Another way to fix the issue would be to not allow the theme to play back videos in the portfolio grid. This way I can just simply change the thumbnail of the video and get it linked through to the actual post instead of it loading the video in the grid. This would mean I can set the slideshow behaviour to default.

    Anyways would love to get you guy’s thoughts on it. I do believe it’s an important part of the theme to display video properly. It would simple make the theme perfect!

    Thanks again for all your help!

    Hi Devin,

    The issue I am still running into is that the video player does not resize properly. If I resize the page it introduces black borders again. Another issue is that the semi fix we implemented only seems to affect the portfolio on the front page it does not affect any of the other portfolio pages such as http://radicalorange.tv/vikash-autar/ and http://radicalorange.tv/david-den-engelsman/

    I have done exactly that. I have even deleted the custom.css and reinstalled the theme, the issue still exists. It works slightly better in the demo theme (but still not perfectly – it still places black borders on top and bottom of the video). I suspect the slideshow settings are different in the demo, it’s probably set to default while I need to set it to display images except the first one. I need to use this slideshow setting because I do not want the video to be able to playback in the portfolio grid. So the theme displays the first images in the grid and then actually switches to the video when the portfolio item is loaded.

    Would be great if you guys can have another look at it. Since we are a video production company it’s very important to display the video perfectly.

    Thanks,

    Vikash

    Okay just checked the kriesi.at theme demo and it also has extra black on top and bottom of the video. I’ve been playing around with the settings, trying to change almost possibly everything. The only thing I managed to achieve was to make the video behave like it does on the demo (by the slideshow behaviour to default).

    I feel we’re really close to getting this fixed, which is exciting!

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100500

    Hi Nick!

    Thanks for that. I tried the code, however it does not seem to do anything. It only seems to ‘break’ the slideshow on the frontpage and does some weird stuff with the portfolio titles in the grid.

    Isn’t it weird that this seem to work fine on your install and the theme demo? I also find it strange that the changes we made only seem to affect the portfolio on the frontpage and not the portfolios on I other pages http://radicalorange.tv/vikash-autar/ and http://radicalorange.tv/david-den-engelsman/.

    I highly appreciate all your help. Will email you the details.

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks so much for your help. Can’t believe you even did a screen recording!

    I tried your suggestions, but it didn’t seem to work. However, when I turned the slideshow feature off in the portfolio item it magically got rid of that extra white space underneath the content. Which is great!

    However, the player still does not resize as it does in your video. I am really getting confused, cause I was 100% sure the Kriesi.at theme demo had the same issue (black box around video) but now it seems to work fine on the demo as well..

    I also noticed that what we tried only had effect on the portfolio items on the homepage the items on other pages http://radicalorange.tv/vikash-autar/ and http://radicalorange.tv/david-den-engelsman/ still have the same issue..

    I also noticed that the video items on the home page still have a slight black border when opened in Safari and I can’t seem to get rid off it..

    I am really starting to get confused about this now, since the demo theme seems to work fine.. I am more than happy to give you my login details if that would make it all easier!

    Just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy I just did a fresh install of the theme (even the custom.css). The issue still exists.

    Hi Nick,

    I’ve embedded the video by just using the URL.

    The aspect ratio of the video is 16:9

    The videos are generally uploaded in 1920*1080 or 1024 * 576

    I’ve enabled embedding anywhere, so could you please try again?

    This is the embed code vimeo gives me on their embed page

    Code:
    <iframe src=”http://player.vimeo.com/video/56317437″ width=”500″ height=”281″ frameborder=”0″ webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

    Thanks again!

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks! That seems to fix it for the non ajax version. Do you also have a way to fix it in the ajax version?

    I was also wondering if there is a way to do this so it’s ‘dynamic’, since this limits the post height to the pixel amount in the css if I’m correct?

    Thanks again for all your help, hope you are having a good weekend!

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for that! I wasn’t near my computer so couldn’t do the change. I tried your suggestion but when I replace all the code in my custom.css with the code you have given me the issue returns. However, when I add the two css bits you gave me earlier to the top it fixes the problem. However, I’ve still got the issue with the white space below the content. This is what my custom css looks like at the moment (the pixel values are trial and error but they seem to have gotten rid of the black):

    Code:
    #top.single-portfolio iframe {
    height: 398px !important;
    width: 700px !important;
    }
    #top.home iframe {
    height: 373px !important;
    width: 700px !important;
    }
    .portfolio_container_content .title_container h1 {
    font-size: 45px;
    }
    .portfolio-title h1.main-title{
    word-wrap: break-word;
    }
    #top .small_header_info a img {
    float: right;
    padding-top: 8px;
    padding-left: 5px;
    }
    #top.home .slideshow_media_wrap, #top.single-portfolio .slideshow_media_wrap {
    background-color: white !important;
    }
    #top .slideshow li single-portfolio iframe{
    height: 341px !important;
    width: 600px !important;
    position: relative;
    display: inline-block !important;
    background-color: white !important;
    overflow: hidden;
    }

    Thanks again!

    Hi Nick,

    Yes I noticed! Thanks so much! This is great!!

    However, it still is doing the same thing in the non ajax version.

    http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/freelancer-com-logo-expose/

    I also noticed that the Ajax version now has quite a bit of white space below the content, is there a way to tighten this up?

    Thanks!

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100487

    Hi Nick,

    I tried it but it didn’t work.

    I’m not sure if this makes any sense, but I went digging by using inspect element in google chrome and noticed that if I changed the height to 390 on the following line that it fixed the issue.

    <li data-animation="random" class="featured featured_container1 caption_right caption_right_framed caption_framed   videoslide" style="visibility: visible; opacity: 1; z-index: 3; -webkit-transition: none;height: 390px;">

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100485

    Just to explain it clearer. When you go to http://www.radicalorange.tv and click on a portfolio item with video (TEDx for example). You can see that the vimeo video is floating in a black box. I want to get rid of the black box, I just want the video to appear without all the black underneath it. It shows images just fine, video seems to be a problem however.

    It’s very important for us to get this working, since we are a video production company and it looks really silly. Could you let me know if this is possible? It seems so strange cause if I would add a video to a normal post this does not happen, the theme just seems to stretch the video container to fill up the height, which isn’t necessary at all!

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100483

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks for fix the flags. It looks great.

    I tried your suggestion for the vimeo box issue, however this does not seem to fix it. It only moves the video within the black box..

    Do you have any other ideas?

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100481

    Als just wondering if you could show me how to remove the posted in (categories) which appears alongside the facebook and twitter attributes.

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100480

    Hi Nick,

    All updated now. Unfortunately the code you gave to fix the vimeo box is only still moving the video inside the box.

    1. Orange button link – http://www.kriesi.at/themedemo/?theme=eunoia (so the orange circle + icon above Kriesi’s name for example).

    I am also adding flags to link to translated versions of the site on the right top corner using the theme options for adding a phone number etc (it has support hotline in the demo). However I was wondering if I can make the flags centered on the line instead of being higher than the text and if I can create some space between them and the text. (www.radicalorange.tv right top corner)

    Thanks so much for all your help. Almost got the theme exactly how we need it!

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100478

    Hi Nick,

    Unfortunately this does not seem to work. It only seems to move the vimeo video within the container/black box. Could you please have a look at it for me (www.radicalorange.tv).

    I also had a few other questions:

    I wondering if there is a way to not show the orange button (with icon inside of it) on top of the container for the team member shortcodes?

    Is there a possibility for the individual portfolio items (not ajax) to look the same as the ajax items. So title on the right on top of the metafields next to the image. It currently appears on top like this http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/tedx-sydney/ .

    Is there a way to not display the likes, tweets, categories etc. in the portfolio items underneath the content http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/tedx-sydney/. So I would like to get rid of all this

    Thanks Nick!

    Just wondering where I would put this code, I put it in the custom CSS but it does not seem to do anything..

    Thanks!

    Sorry my bad, the image disappearing only happens in the ajax environment you can view it happening by going to http://www.radicalorange.tv and clicking on Romantic Death (the only item with a picture).

    Thanks!

    Vikash

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100472

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for your quick reply. Do you mean a reinstall of the theme or wordpress?

    You can view the first image disappearing and the stretching of the player at the link below:

    http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/romantic-death/

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100470

    Thanks so much for your help Devin. I totally missed that option!

    I have been using vimeo videos Nick, thanks for your tip though!

    I just have 2 last small issues that happen when I load the portfolio item.

    1. It seems that the theme loads the first image and then removes it so the second image moves up. Is there any way to fix this? You can see it when you go to http://www.radicalorange.tv and click on Romantic Death.

    2. The theme also stretches the vimeo player to fill the page. Is there any way to make it stop doing this? I just want the player to appear without any stretching.

    Thanks heaps!

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100467

    I’ve figured out that the linking does not work because of ajax being turned on, when I switched to no ajax the linking worked. This still did not fix the video loading in the thumbnail issue.

    However, I do believe the best solution would be to not display the first featured image in the post but just in the portfolio thumbnail. I know this is possible with the theme, because this website does it http://christinekawasakichan.com/

    I just can’t figure out what to change to make it possible..

    Thanks again for all the help guys!

    in reply to: Disable video playback in portfolio thumbnail #100466

    Hi Nick, Thanks so much for your reply.

    I was wondering instead of doing the above, is it possible to have the first featured image not appear in the actual post? This is essentially what I want: the first image to appear in the portfolio thumbnail layout and the second image will be the video.

    Maybe, I am doing something wrong with the linking. Could I PM my user details to someone to check it out for me?

    Thanks!
