    Hi Jisue,
I’m not getting it – when I clcik on the blog home page (not site home page) it is still showing the entire post and not the excerpt I created in the exceprt field in the control panel.

Also, you are using the home page for that word ‘custom excerpt’ and that is not drawn from the post.
Someone else here knows how to do this, they did it for the Abundance theme but I cannot remember who.

Just to clarify this si what I am looking to do:

    1. When the blog is created – write a custom excerpt.
    2. Place custom except into the excerpt field in the control panel.
    3. The blog homepage websitename.com/blog will be able to draw that exceprt through with the image.
    4. The site homepage websitename.com. will also be able to draw that through if setup.

How can this be achieved? Fuethermore why is Kriesl still using the custom excerpt as the defualt way when for the last couple of years this featured has been requested multiple times?

    Thanks

Is there anyone else on this forum who knows or remembers how to use the excerpt instead of the Read More Tag?

    Thanks

    Hi Josue,

That did not work. The excerpt is not showing on teh blog home page. The whole post is showing instead which is not what I want and my original question is: I need for the except to show onthe home page and blog home page instead of the Read More tag.

    Thanks

Okayy thanks to you both for your help.

in reply to: Remove & Replace Kriesl link from footer (permanently) #308346

Is this going to keep appearing when there is an update to the theme? Is there a way to remove this from completely?

The link you sent above sounds a little strange – are you saying that we can put our copyright of the website there and our company name as the redesigner? and then add no link to remove Kriel’s link? That is very odd and there has to be a betetr way, no?

On a premium tmeplate that he is selling why is his name on it?

    Thanks

in reply to: Title Twice on Page #107363

Hi Devin, after clearing the cache I can see it working now – it is the similar to what I used before with a a couple of changes.

    Thanks

in reply to: Title Twice on Page #107362

Thanks for your response Devin. I tried that and unfortunately it did not work.

Okay let me then enlighten you in regards to multiple H1’s. Firstly I agree there is does not affect SEO too much, however a H tag is there to form a hierarchy that’s why we have these tags. Having a H1 tag twice for the same subject matter, same product, same phrase is improper.

You personally may like having the exact same title twice on a page, your personal taste do not make it right. In actual fact having the same big title twice for such a small amount of product content makes it an eye sore and somewhat confusing for visitors.

I agree with you that UX testing can yield some interesting points but also so can usability. We would rather get this right from the start, two identical titles on the same page both as H1 tags is not correct by any means and should not be promoted as such.

I would dearly like to remove the extra tag as I had it before this update? Thanks

in reply to: Remove Character from Title #107201

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for heads up on the code error. It was residue of a wayward plugin gone bad. Now removed completely.

As far as the pip character goes, I tried to alter this in Yoast SEO but still had the same issue. I then removed the pipe symbol ‘|’ from the title line 18 in header.php and this fixed the issue.

    Thanks for looking anyway.

    Hi Devin,

Thank you for the reply. I see what you mean, as soon as I disabled Jetpack comments the star rating appeared again.

    Thanks

    Hi Peter,

Even using the slug and doing all sorts of variations it still will not show: [product_category category=”eye-care” per_page=”4″ columns=”4″ orderby=”date” order=”desc”]

    Thanks

in reply to: Enable Comments on Pages #88691

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply. Shouldnt this be written into this theme as an integral and important part of the the theme. After all, commenting on ‘Pages’ as well as post is at the heart of the WordPress philosophy?

    Thanks

in reply to: Enable Comments on Pages #88689

Hi Ismael, unfortuantely that did not work so I roleld it back. I think it may have something to do with the custom page templates that are built from Avia system.

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87021

    Hi Nick,

That has worked perfectly and thanky ou for your assistance and help.

For the G+ API I used: Google Analytics for WordPress and yes by Joost de Walk (Yoast). I highlky recommend it as it has some very neat custom variables that can be intergrated with the analytics account.

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87019

    Hi Ismael

Unfortuantely that puts the post back to a narrow length so i could not do that. Is there a way to keep the psot wide and have it so it only affects the blog category.

Please see blog page here: http://www.manscape.co.uk/blog/ notice all the content is sitting below the images. If I use your code then it also changes it on the post page and makes it too narrow.

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87017

    Hi NIck,

That worked perfectly and the page has resized correctly. I will g through and later all of the images to fit correctly.

I did notice on the blog catergory page: http://www.manscape.co.uk/blog/ that the images have now stopped aligning with the text and the text is now underneath them. Is there a way to egt this aligned once more?

    Thanks

    Vince

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87015

Thnaks for the response Nick, this has almost worked. The featured thumbnail iamge is nwo removed from the psot – which is good and it still retians itself in the blog category which is good.

The content is still in the same place now the image has gone: Is there a way to expand (widen) the content so it looks neater?

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87012

    Hi Dude,

I followed those instructions exactly as you wrote them but it has made no difference. The featured image thumbnail is still showing in the post: http://www.manscape.co.uk/carter-and-bond/

    Thanks

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87010

    Hi Devin

I put the link in the first post. Here is the link againt o the blog: http://www.manscape.co.uk/blog/ any one of those posts! Are you sure you understand the question? All I want to do is remove the featured thumbnail iamge on the blog but keep it in the categories etc.

Once removed I would like the content to widen to take up the extra space?

    Thanks

    Vincent

in reply to: Remove featured image from post #87008

Thanks for trying Ismael but this did not work it only succeeded in removing the featured thumbnail image from post and blog category and still left the width of post narrow. Here is what I would like to try:

    1. Remove featured thumbnail image from BLOG post only.

    2. When featured image is removed the blog expands to a wider size to compensate for the loss of the featured image.

    3. The blog categories ans archives keeps the featured image.

Thanks and appreciated for your help.

I did another post about the same issue and the fix was in single.php but I could not find that particular piece of code in single.php.See the post here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/featured-image-vs-insert-image-in-post

in reply to: Unwanted Character Appeared in Title #81085

    Hi Devin

    In the title:

    <title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> | <?php is_home() ? bloginfo(‘description’) : wp_title(”); ?></title>

I removed ‘|’ and this worked. However is there a way of jsut simply telling it to the have the vertical abr ‘|’ to the right of the title so that it would appear like this:

Aesop Parsley Seed Cleanser | Manscape

    Rather than:

    | Aesop Parsely Seed Cleanser | Manscape

in reply to: Unwanted Character Appeared in Title #81083

    Hi Devin

I am talking about meta title top of page. It’s still there.

in reply to: Link Colour Blog / Articles #79783

Thank you Ismael, that is perfect and appreciate all of your help ;)

in reply to: Link Colour Blog / Articles #79781

Thanks Ismael that worked perfectly, however it also amde the titles red as here: http://www.manscape.co.uk/articles-base/ is there a way to revery titles back to default and just have content hyperlinks red?

    Thanks
