@dbdesign999 yeah, that's what I had said above but it was probably lost in my other ranting since I was in the middle of a comment when I tried it again and it worked.

Well it looks like the problem may have been on the Twitter API end, because I just re-activated the native Twitter widget and it's working. Give it a shot again @chembro303

I am going to update my theme this evening, and see if I can figure the problem out that way. I read something about twitter changing API access that was disabling a lot of twitter plugins though? @chembro303 - good luck man.
I'll check back to see if there is a solution provided once I update to the new theme version.

wordpress 3.5.1, velvet 1.3 but heavily customized.

I also am scared to update since I lost every option in the theme set when I moved from one server to another and restored from backup. I also lost every option in the theme set when I stupidly changed the name of the theme (I don't want my client knowing I bought a theme and customized it).

It's not a plugin conflict. FWIW, I tried it now without making any other changes and it's back to working. So does that mean the problem was on the twitter end?

If so, maybe you can still modify the twitter plugin code so that if there's a problem connecting to twitter or other error or whatever it says that, instead of displaying 100 lines of error code. :)

Thanks anyway. Glad it's working again.

@ dbdesign999 - You will not lose any options set in the theme settings by updating. You'll need to update before we can further diagnose whats going on however.

Hi chembro303,

What version of Wordpress and Velvet are you using? If you have any other plugins active can you try disabling them to make sure there isn't any conflicts with one of them.

I am having the exact same problem, just as of a few minutes ago.

I am still using Angular Version 1.2 , I have not updated to the new versions in fear of losing any custom settings. I have just recently updated my Wordpress to 3.5.1 and updated a few plugins today. It seems after that update the native Angular twitter plugin has stopped working.

I would also like a solution to this problem, as twitter feed is a feature I like to have in my footer.

Hi, everything was working fine on my site until I checked this morning and saw that the twitter widget was showing a whole bunch of error code. There are lots of errors reported but the first one looks like this:

simplexml_load_string() [function.simplexml-load-string]: Entity: line 10: parser error : Opening and ending tag mismatch: link line 9 and head in [...]/wp-content/themes/velvet/framework/php/class-framework-widgets.php on line 188

All the errors mention line 188 in that file. What's the deal? For now I disabled the twitter widget but I would like to re-enable it when it's working again. I don't think we changed anything... it was working yesterday and today it's not.

I would send a link, but the site is 'under construction' and can't be accessed until launch without an account, etc etc.

At any rate, i got it to work by changing the "apply links to the image if that's what the user wanted" section to:

//apply links to the image if thats what the user wanted
	$image = avia_get_link($slide, 'slideshow_', $image_string, $this->post_id);

	$output .= "<li class='featured featured_container".$counter++."' >";

	$output .= "<a href='".get_permalink( $id )."'>";

	$output .= $image;

Also by changing
$output .= "</li>";
to
$output .= "</a></li>";

It will only work if the image is set to "No Link" on the post page. This is a bit of a roundabout way but it works well for me.

Thanks!

Dude - Thanks for your reply. For some reason, the code you provided makes the images no longer load on the post. It just gives the spinning wheel logo (as if its loading) but it never ends up displaying the image.

Chembro - Thanks for your reply, but the Lightbox still came up on the page when I used your method. The code structure seems to be different between these two themes so that's probably why it didn't work.

Ok, there may be an easier way but for my purposes, this worked exactly as I want. I ended up editing includes>loop-page.php (I have the velvet theme, so sorry if it doesn't match up with other themes' structure).

Toward the top, where it says:

//call the function that displays featured images and slideshows within posts
 $slider = new avia_slideshow($this_id);
 echo $slider->display_small($avia_config['size']);

I changed it to say:

//call the function that displays featured images and slideshows within posts
// $slider = new avia_slideshow($this_id);
// echo $slider->display_small($avia_config['size']);
 the_post_thumbnail('page');

That gave me what I wanted. I hope it works for you, or else maybe the support team has a better idea.

@haurys - I have the same issue and was just about to ask the same question! I am currently getting around the default behavior by changing the "link to this post" option to "link manually" and then entering the full link to the post.

This pretty much creates the desired result (image on portfolio and/or home page slider links to post, but image on post no longer has the lightbox link to itself)... but it's not quite ideal because:

a) on individual post, I want NO link on the image ideally, and
b) it's a pain in the butt to have to enter every image's link manually and then worry about keeping them accurate if URLs change, etc.

Here's hoping someone can provide something we can add to functions.php or something which will remove the lightbox feature entirely from the individual post images while allowing us to use "link to this post" for the beneficial home page slider link, etc. There has to be some function kriesi wrote which adds the individual page's lightbox functionality, so hopefully there's something we can throw in functions.php which overrrides it.

Thanks!

Hello there,

I am looking to change how the "link to this post" for featured images behaves. Currently the featured image on the front page slider links to the article when I choose this option. This is what I want it to do. HOWEVER, in the article itself, the featured image is a lightbox.

How can I make it so that the featured image "links to this post" on the front page slider, but has no link and no lightbox on the actual post page?

Thank you!

Hey chembro303,

The grid is a 12 column grid so six would be possible in this instance.

Open includes>admin>register-admin-options.php and look for:

array(
 "slug"	=> "portfolio",
 "name" => "Portfolio Columns",
 "desc" => "How many columns should be displayed?",
 "id" => "portfolio_columns",
 "type" => "select",
 "std" => "4",
 "subtype" => array('1'=>'1','2'=>'2','3'=>'3','4'=>'4')),

add a 6 option to that with:
"id" => "portfolio_columns",
 "type" => "select",
 "std" => "4",
 "subtype" => array('1'=>'1','2'=>'2','3'=>'3','4'=>'4','6'=>'6')),

Then in includes>loop-portfolio.php look for:

switch($avia_config['portfolio_columns'])
	{
 case 1: $grid = 'grid12'; $image_size = 'featured'; break;

	}

add an option for the 6 option:

switch($avia_config['portfolio_columns'])
	{
 case 1: $grid = 'grid12'; $image_size = 'featured'; break;
 case 2: $grid = 'grid6'; $image_size = 'portfolio2'; break;
 case 3: $grid = 'grid4'; $image_size = 'portfolio3'; break;
 case 4: $grid = 'grid3'; $image_size = 'portfolio'; $showcaption = false; break;
 case 6: $grid = 'grid2'; $image_size = 'portfolio'; $showcaption = false; break;
	}

I love this theme (Velvet) - thanks. One thing I want to do is have a portfolio page with rows of 6 columns (head shots of people) in addition to the normal options (1,2,3,4). I tried to modify a few of the underpinnings of the theme but I just couldn't get it to work.

While full instructions would be much appreciated :) at a minimum can you point me to the files I would need to modify and the basic gist of what I need to do in order to add a "6" option in the portfolio columns configuration selector that will display 6 portfolio items across using a new custom image size (approx. 130x170 in this case...)? I was able to add the "6" item as a new option in the select box but it didn't seem to 'do' anything when I select it. I must be missing something.

Thank you!!!
