@jorgepelaez

Would you please provide a url. I just installed Widget Logic, WPML, Strings & Custom Links Widget to Flagship. I added Custom Links Widgets to the 1st and 2nd widget areas of the footer and everything worked just fine.

Thanks,

Hi,

The themes are fully compatible with WPML. The problem is that WordPress 3.5 made some very significant changes and it usually takes a bit of time until all the plugins and themes make adjustments not only to include the new features of WordPress but to also ensure compatibility with the updates released by 3rd party plugin developers .

It's never a good idea to update the moment that WordPress releases a new version or a plugin is updated. That's the reason all of your hosts are not using the last versions of PHP or MySQL. They are first waiting for everything to settle down and stabilize for a while (In the case of Debian a really long while) before upgrading.

Kriesi is working round the clock (as always) and the next set of update should be just around the corner. For now, the recommended solution is to use the Widget Logic plugin. It's very convenient, simple, reliable, and in my personal view, the best way to deal with widgets in a WPML environment. With Widget Logic, you deal with all the widgets in all the languages in the same location. That I think is more convenient than flipping back and forth between languages, especially when dealing with a few dozen widgets in multiple languages.

I am making a screen-cast now to show you the workflow with Widget Logic and you judge for yourselves. ( https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hqGBMSfHtKbzhUN3FZRW9zNmM/edit ).

Thanks,

Hi!

Did you try widget logic: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ to translate the widgets ( http://wpml.org/2011/03/howto-display-different-widgets-per-language/ )? You need to create two widgets (one with English + one with Spanish headline) and then use widget logic to filter them.

Best regards,
Peter

Hi!

Tbh I don't think it's a problem with the theme. You can try to switch to another one like TwentyTwelve and check if the string translation of the widgets works with this theme.

Best regards,

Hi,
you can use widget logic: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ to translate the widgets. And they are in the blog, but the widgets "categories" and Latest News" are empty !
How do I get messages in the widgets ?
I have to translate (duplicate) posts in 2 the second language ?

Hi drixe,

Yes that is correct. I think you'll need to use a separate plugin to get that depth of sidebar control. Something like this should work for that: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic-visual/screenshots/

It will allow you to designate specific widgets to only appear on certain pages/categories and make use of all the conditional tags wordpress has to offer.

Regards,

Hey!

You can change the image dimensions in functions.php or you can use a plugin like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
The Template allows to have a custom sidebar for a specific category,
but it only works on the category page, not on single posts in this category.

Hope you'll understand my need.

Hi drixe,

I'm not sure if this is what you really want, but I think you want to have some posts in a specific category to appear on your sidebar, if it's that then you might want to try this plugin: Posts from a Category Widget (By Takayuki Miyauchi)

Hope this helps. :)

Regards,
Ismael

Problem 1 is fully fixed and solution could be added to the theme update with Kriesi additional filters, so the all images and content has an appropriate domain name. What I mean additional filter, you can read from here: http://www.wp-code.com/wordpress-snippets/how-to-make-sure-the-correct-domain-is-used-in-wpml/ so every content has an appropriate domain name.

So using multi domain site with WPML there should be added function and filters to functions.php:
//Add all the necessary filters. There are a LOT of WordPress functions, and you may need to add more filters for your site.
add_filter ('site_url', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('get_option_siteurl', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('stylesheet_directory_uri', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('template_directory_uri', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('post_thumbnail_html', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('plugins_url', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('admin_url', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
add_filter ('fullsize', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');
//Changes the domain for a URL so it has the correct domain for the current language
//Designed to be used by various filters
//@param string $url
//@return string
function wpcs_correct_domain_in_url($url){
if (function_exists('icl_get_home_url')) {
// Use the language switcher object, because that contains WPML settings, and it's available globally
global $icl_language_switcher;
// Only make the change if we're using the languages-per-domain option
if (isset($icl_language_switcher->settings['language_negotiation_type']) && $icl_language_switcher->settings['language_negotiation_type'] == 2)
return str_replace(untrailingslashit(get_option('home')), untrailingslashit(icl_get_home_url()), $url);
}
return $url;
}
Actually this filter fixes the problem with AJAX portfolio opening:

add_filter ('admin_url', 'wpcs_correct_domain_in_url');

Thanks,

Hi,

Problem 2 fixed also, regarding cross domain font-face rendering in firefox by adding this to .htaccess:
AddType application/vnd.ms-fontobject .eot
AddType font/ttf .ttf
AddType font/otf .otf
<FilesMatch "\.(ttf|otf|eot)$">
<IfModule mod_headers.c>
Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*"
</IfModule>
</FilesMatch>

So the problem 3 only left! I think it's totally related to the theme, I also have no success to show Latest Portfolio widget content on second language. (remember, different domains per language)

Hope you guys will find solution!

Thanks,

Hi nuforms,

I apologize for not having a solution for the issue, I'll check with Kriesi to see if there have been any developments on our end since there hasn't been a response here on it.

It definitely isn't our intention to have the customer bug fix themselves but as I'm sure you have found going into the issue and code it can be quite complicated to fix sometimes.

Regards,

1st problem partly fixed.
I did it with hard coded link for second language, but it's not a good solution, in file class-superobect.php find this function function set_javascript_framework_url() and replace with below:

function set_javascript_framework_url()
{
if ( ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE == 'en' ) {

 echo "\n \n \n ";

 } if ( ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE == 'ru' ) {
echo "\n \n \n ";
}

 }
