Hi commonmodel,

I think it would be better to actually have something like that (permanent and built in) added with a theme update that way its supported across the board.

I'll forward the thread and code that Chris provided to Kriesi and see if he has a suggestion/would be willing to add it into the core files.

Hi Chris,

I just tried replacing all the code as you've suggested and it did not work for me. It actually took my site down due to some error with "Line 79." I put back all of the original code and the site is working fine.

However, I have yet to find a good, straight-forward, and easy to understand explanation of how to add social media integration, such as a "Like It" button, "Pin It" button, and "Tweet It" button to the Flashlight theme. I would ideally like to add it to each of my portfolio entry items (each photo within the gallery/portfolio). Here is my site: http://CommonModel.com and here is where I would like to add the buttons: http://commonmodel.com/gallery/dmills/ and in blog post entries.

I am a new developer (so I could be doing something wrong), but I have tried various plugins which do not seem to work well. I also tried searching for this on the Kriesi support boards, but could not find any good resolutions. Do you think your team could put together one manual on how to address the high demand by your users to share via social media? I think there would a lot of appreciative users.

Thank you for your time! Your team is great with support and have always been helpful!

I think facebook uses the preloading class somewhere within the iframe.- The only "workaround" I can think of is to delete the preloading image. Go to wp-content/themes/flashlight/images/skin-minimal/ and delete the loading.gif.

Here are links to the pages with spinning circles.
Both show spinning circles in the facebook plugins. Whether I add a twitter plugin or a FB plugin, this is what happens.

As far as I know it's not possible to create a gallery/portfolio page with a video lightbox feature. However you can create a standard page and insert image/video links into the content area. A video links needs to look like:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqXi8WmQ_WM" rel="prettyPhoto" title=""><img src="http://my-website/my-image.jpg" alt="YouTube" width="60" /></a>

Basically the link points to a vimeo/youtube url and as the link text use any image of your choice.

None of that is helping me figure out the first step. How do I create a gallery/portfolio page that is images from videos, that you can then click on to bring up a video lightbox to watch the videos in.

It seems others have gotten this working. I just cant seem to figure it out. Can someone give me a set of step by step indstructions?

Hey,

I just spent a lot of time figuring this out. I hope it works.

Add this to your Quick CSS or custom.css to hide the Lightbox effect you'll get on the button.

.masonry-content .noLightbox span[style] {
    display: none !important;
}

Add this piece of code I found to your functions.php to get the current page URL needed in the Pinterest button code.

function curPageURL() {
$pageURL = 'http';
if ($_SERVER["HTTPS"] == "on") {$pageURL .= "s";}
$pageURL .= "://";
if ($_SERVER["SERVER_PORT"] != "80") {
  $pageURL .= $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"].":".$_SERVER["SERVER_PORT"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"];
} else {
  $pageURL .= $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"];
}
return $pageURL;
}

Add this before your closing head in header.php (not sure if it's needed but .. ah well, I'll just believe Pinterest)

<script type="text/javascript" src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js"></script>

And, because I forgot what I did in flashlight\includes\helper-slideshow.php I suggest you overwrite it with this code.

It works for me and I sure hope it works for you. I don't have a Pinterest account so I can't test it - but the link is correct. Let me know what happens.

Cheers,

Hey,

The circles in the background can be removed from the share buttons by adding this to your Quick CSS or custom.Css

I am also having this problem. I have gone through 5 different social media button plugins. All of them end up with little spinning circles sort of under them, or beside them. It looks really bad. Here is what it looks like on a page:

http://www.digave.com/test/this-is-a-test/

I want to use the Masonry Flexible gallery for some of my galleries, I would like to add a Pinterest PinIt button under each image in the gray area beneath. I would also like to put in a share on facebook and tweet button as well.

Has anyone accomplished this yet?

If not, this is very important. Pinterest is a huge source of traffic.

Hi - are you using any facebook plugins? I am using wordbooker which posts blog updates to my facebook page. Once I loaded flashlight something went wrong with wordbooker and I had the same problem you have. I didn't realise what it was until today, I deactivated it, reactivated it and went to its settings. I switched off everything except posting to my facebook page ( I already use add this for facebook and social media buttons) and now it's ok. Just wondered if this was your problem or if it might point you in the right direction.

Some good plugins that are recommended and might offer an alternative to what you had been trying before.

My apologies. I was not clear enough. It is whenever I use a social media plugin. It is not in the blog comments section but in the connect/comments section under the facebook plugin. Anytime I use a "twitter, facebook" plug in, the spinning circle is present.

thank you,

Hi Aaron,

Are you still having the same issue? I just took a look at the blog post comments from the 21st of February and don't see the issue you are describing.

In the blog posts or the contact page the social media buttons that I've found on the Word Press apps section all show a spinning circle. I would like to have buttons without the circle. If you click on my "comments: section you can see this in action.

Thank you
