Hi Nick,

Not that I know of no. The above is a good start but if you really need it and are not comfortable with editing php I would recommend looking into a freelance web developer. The changes should take a few hours at most since the above is a good starting point.

Unfortunately however it isn't something we can offer as support.

Regards,

Hi guys,

First off thanks so much for creating an amazing template! It's allowed me to heavily customize it and make it my own. I'd like to add a custom field to use a separate thumbnail for my portfolio entries. This is is a really important feature to me that I thought was a part of this template when I purchased it :(

I read the guide but I'm still unsure as to where to insert certain lines of code shown in Kreisi's tutorial. Is there an in-depth step by step guide somewhere that will show me the results of adding the edits you posted?

Many thanks.

Nick

I investigated the "Preview Picture overwrite" and it's only useful for portfolio entries. The image "Preview Picture overwrite" will be used for portfolio preview pictures on portfolio overview pages. It doesn't affect single entries (posts, pages and single portfolio entries).

ok- sorry again, I must not have been clear to begin with -- on the link given, there are two posts with a featured image AND each has a Preview Picture Overwrite set as well -- the problem is the Preview Picture is NOT being displayed, only the featured image. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Yes - I think the featured image is obligatory (so you need to set the featured image and if it's set wp will check if an overwrite option is set).

ok, sorry this isn't sinking in and I appreciate your patience here -- I thought that's what I'm trying to do and it's not working? The link has 3 posts, all three have a featured image set. They all also had a Post Thumb set, but only the featured image is shown in the preview. (As a test, I removed the featured image from the bottom post, so that post now only has the post thumb -- the result is no image shows at all in for a post preview.)

The post thumbnails can be used to overwrite the featured image thumbnail (i.e. if the image resize function crops the featured image and you'd like to use a manually created thumbnail instead you can use the "Preview Picture overwrite" to replace the default featured image). It's not obligatory though.

Would removing this code also cause me to lose the post preview thumbnails? I have a featured image and a post thumbnail (and sometimes a post content image) set for this post category http://tinyurl.com/4xsw869 and only the featured image is showing as the post prev. Not sure if some other code mod for the home page has caused these preview thumbs not to work... or I'm just missing something silly... any thoughts?

I'd reduce the size of some images. Firebug network analysis reports around 1,2mb traffic (which causes long page loading times). Maybe try to use jpgs instead of pngs or reduce the quality of your images.

Hey,
I'd remove the portfolio thumb code completely - at the moment they're just hidden. Open up index.php and delete:

<div class="wrapper" id='wrapper_featured_stripe'>

I've been setting up this new site http://tinyurl.com/3t4yl2v and yes there are some CSS/PHP mods but the ones applied came from the suggestions/code samples offered in this forum. I do have a child CSS in place for some of the CSS/
Ever since I changed the slider image size, the page load/browser refresh delay has been more prominent. There is a brief delay where certain sections load partially but in alternate formatting before reverting to the chosen format for that section. It's one thing to have the font delay, and I understand I can remove that issue by changing the font per instructions on another thread, but on my site it is not only the fonts, but the slider shadow and sometimes the page background, the section below the slider (I thought I correctly followed your posted instructions to remove those portfolio thumbs + work button from under the slider) and but did I miss some code somewhere that's causing the load delay? This issue takes away from the site professionalism, which is kinda of important considering. Thanks!

Perfect, thank you!
Regarding the overlay, yes I managed to alter the size although I'm not sure my code mod is the proper way. I'd like to change the font size+ weight but it doesn't seem to be in the same area of code where I changed the overlay size. Could you guide me to where I would alter the overlay font? My example is a title without a description. What if I used just a line of description -- if so, would that be easier to modify the font format instead? Just looking for whatever is easiest/best.practice. (Ex. change font size slightly larger or smaller depending on quantity of text and also make it Bold)

Thanks

    margin-top: 5px;

Also, how to change the size of the slider overlay height/width -- I have made some modification as you can see in the link above, but I would like the overlay to be a short band across the entire bottom width which contains a single line of text, either the title or the description but not both. I was able to do this in CleanCut but not having luck figuring it out for Avisio. Thanks

I have adjusted the settings as instructed in other threads to change the slider image size for both height and width (910x350) and adjusted the shadow size/centered the shadow. That's all fine. But, since I changed the width of the images as well as the height, the images appear too offset from the shadow -- how can I shift or center the slider images over the shadow? I've tried a couple things but not sure of the proper code to modify. Thanks!

Second tier items in the drop down menu display to the right. Which is fine, but on a lower resolution monitor, especially with smaller browser window, the second tier items for nav links toward the right are partly hidden by the edge of the browser window. The user therefore has to resize the browser window and/or right scroll to see these items. The "easy" fix in principle is to make those second tier items appear to the left rather than the right. Is there a simple way to do this?

Problem example http://www.montessoricenter.org/wp-content/themes/avisio/images/skin1/move-2nd-tier-drop-down-items.jpg

PS I hope you don't mind me posting sample images. Do they help?

Maybe it was a cache problem, but I solved this issue.

1. Resized the black shadow area in Photoshop to about 300 high (kept same width)
2. Centered the black shadow in the canvas area.
3. Resized canvas area to 360 high.
4. Renamed file to bg_shadow2.png and uploaded
5. Changed link file URL in stylesheet 1.
6. Ta da!
