Hey matsaukeo,

I'm not sure there is any other way to do what you are describing besides adding year categories to your portfolio items and then displaying them in individual pages based on the year.

You could add a 'Archives' link to your main navigation with a drop down with each year under it so it doesn't overly clutter your main nav.

Regards,

Hi there

I'd like to show a selection of my best work on my home page. To do this I can create a "selected" category and then only display those on the home page portfolio.

Then, I'd like to create a portfio archive. Ideally I would show the categories at the top (2012, 2011, 2010 etc) but if I did that I'd have to show every year to begin with which could mean slowing the page down by showing lots of images all at once. Also this would show the "selected" category which isn't ideal.

Is is possible to show the categories at the top, but only show a certain category at once? So perhaps show 2012 to begin with? Could I then hide the "selected" category from the category list?

Or is there another way to do this? I considered creating a page for each year and adding a seperate portfolio for each but I don't really want all those pages in my menu. Perhaps I could add links to each page at the top but it doesn't feel right. Any suggestions/ideas?

OK thanks. It sounds as though I'm better just opening up the files (by ftp) and editing as and when needed. Maybe I'll check every so often if there are updates and if so make the changes. There's a few other areas I'd like to remove / tidy and I think this will be quickest.

Thanks

Hi,
Go to the Theme Options Panel > Styling and scroll to the "Heading Font" option. Select "No Custom Font" to deactivate the standard google font. Afterwards you can use angular/css/custom.css to insert your custom font face css code. Eg fontsquirrel: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/ provides a font-face generator.

1) Open up header.phop and remove the entire code between followinh code line/comment:

<!-- ####### HEAD CONTAINER ####### -->

and:

<div class='container_wrap' id='header'>

2) Yes, Kriesi uses Twitter & Facebook to announce updates. If you update the theme maually (thus by using a ftp software like filezilla) you can overwrite the updates files only. Kriesi provides a changelog (a file called version.rtf in the themeforest zip) which helps you to find the updated files.

Hi

How would I remove the entire social_container altogether. I know that I could use CSS to change it to "display:none" but is there a way of actually removing it from the html? - sorry this is a general question that I've sort of repeated elsewhere but should I be editing the header.php file to comment it out?

I usually build wordpress themes for other people based on very simple themes so I've not used such an extensive wordpress theme before. I guess what I'm asking is how much of the original theme do people tend to edit? Should I be worried about theme updates? Also if a theme has been updated do I get any notfications or do I have to follow facebook / twitter.

Again, much appreciated! - Hopefully once I get the basics of what I should and shouldn't edit I won't need to bother you again! ;-)

Hi

I'd like to disable the google fonts and use my own fonts (hosted by me) instead. I usually do this using @font-face.

What would be the best way of doing this? Would I comment out the link to the google fonts file that is found in the header.php file and then update my custom CSS file? If I were to do that, should I be updating the header.php file or should I be using a child theme?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I'm starting to get an idea now of how to edit this without messing with the original files. I have a couple of specfic questions so I'll ask those seperately after searching the forum

Hi matsaukeo,

Since you want to play mainly with the CSS, I suggest simply using the custom.css located in /angular/css/. This file is meant to be used for customizations so when Kriesi updates he leaves it alone.

Also, when Kriesi updates he includes a version log so you know which files were updated. In case you do edit the HTML/PHP then you check this log to see the file was one of the ones updated.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Hi There,

I've recently bought the Angular theme - looks good and looking forward to getting going with it!

I know that I'll want to be making changes to personalise it. What would be the best way of doing this? Should I be creating a child theme in case you update the main theme? Any tips would help, I'll be mainly playing around with the CSS rather than the HTML
