No, It typically isn't this difficult. Normally what we suggest is to just install the dummy data which will set everything up automatically. Then just built on things from there.

If you want things to get set up for you I would suggest somewhere like Codeable.io (where I freelance) or elance, freelanceswitch or any of the other wordpress job boards that are available.

Your background images need to be set to stretch and fill the screen and get cropped if needed in your main theme options. Go to the theme options > General Settings. Look for "Background Gallery Image Cropping/resizing" and select the first option. There is a description next to the dropdown with an explanation. Make sure to Save all changes afterwards.

For the font size, Try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

#top.single-product .post-title.big_title {
font-size: 30px !important;
}

I am so frustrated. Is there a way I can get help faster, can I pay someone. This is taking me forever.

The woocommerce user guide is not detailed enough and it is for the abundance theme, and both videos are for the abundance theme.
The admin interface is so different from my flashlight interface it is confusing.

On the Themeforest--Flashlight page there is a sample of the Flashlight theme with the cart --- is there somewhere I can see the demo of this site being put together.

Can I pay someone to email me sooner, this so bad, too long for each question or communication answered after trying to work something out.

Kriesi shows that all pics can be 640 x 480, the image sizes are set in woocommerce > pages > catalog much less, but I have tried so many things and can't add images. Is it really that hard?

Hi Devin,
I finally have the basic structure up, thanks to you.

I have three questions:

1. How do I get my pictures to show up in the store page. I placed the picture in my media library and then I placed the picture in
"set featured image" but is does not show up in the page? I looked at Kreisis sample video, but mine doesn't work like his.

2. How do I make the top title smaller?

3. How do I get my background image to show up on the whole page in the cart pages. I onlys displays about 3/4 of the way.

Here is the page:
http://artbazz.net/product/beach-birds-photo/

1) Menus are created by you in the Wordpress Appearance>Menu section.

2) I've never created or used a Shop Overview page with WooCommerce so there is no reason to have one as far as I know. Go to WooCommerce>Settings>Pages and look at the list of pages there. Those pages need to be selected for woocommerce to work.

3) You need to set a default background image in your main theme settings.

SSL is complete up to you. We really can't give any advice on it at all as its entirely server dependent.

Everything is ok. The basic store is up. I just have a few questions before I place products.

1. When I click the "My Account" menu button the only part of the dropdown I see is "Lost Password", The "my acct" menu goes to "login" and "register" when I click it. The dropdown should have -- My Account: Logout, Change Password, View Order, Edit My Address, Lost Password -- Is this because this full drop down will be displayed when the shopping cart and ssl is all fully installed?

2. You said the "shop overview" page is required, but it did not install automatically, so I installed it. It does not have links at the top. -- Will
this populate at some time after the store is completed? I have one product in the store now as a placeholder.

3. When I click on the "cart" and "checkout" menus, the background image does not download --- is there something I can do to make this happen.

In internet explorer the background image does not show up at all, --- is there something I can do to change this or is this the way it is?

4. At what point should I get my ssl certificate installed? Should I wait until the store is all full? Or does it matter?

http://www.artbazz.com

As long as the pages are set for shop, checkout etc in the woocommerce settings it should work without issue. You just need to have those pages created.

However, if you are having issues you can delete all of the woocommerce pages (shop, checkout etc) then delete them from your pages trash as well. Go into the woocommerce settings for pages and make sure all the page options are not set.

Once that is done, you can de-activate woocommerce and then re-activate it to get the page creation dialogue again.

Edit: You need at least one product created for the page to format correctly on the main shop page.

Still trying to get simple pages up on shopping cart:

This is the second time I have asked about this problem. I was told to update my theme, and deactivate some plugins -- that helped some of the problems, but two pages still don't work. They are the "shop" page and the "shop overview" pages.

The problem is with my Base Page - "Shop" and "Shop Overview".

I made the mistake of deleting the woocommerce, "automatically add pages". So, when I placed a "shop" page it falls apart, AND the "shop Overview" page have no links at the top that should read -- Log in | Shopping Cart | Checkout.

Is there a shortcode I am supposed to use after creating my "shop" and "shop Overview" pages? I don't see one.

My Base Page "shop" falls apart on the web, and my "shop overview" page has no links at the top.

I have:

1. updated my flashlight themes

2. updated my woocommerce themes

3. deactivated major plugins(kriesi's sample has a lot of plugins so that should
not matter).

4. Please look at the sample on my site to tell me what I am
doing wrong. I have:

      Shop
-Shop Overview
-Checkout
-Cart

Questions:

I notice the shop page and the shop overview page are the same in Kriesi's example. Is this what I need to do? Make them
the same page? His pages were already installed-automatically, I made the mistake of dismantling the auto install - now my base page
does not work.

I added my shop page, but after I added it to the
woocommerce > settings > pages > base page -- it fell apart.

I don't see a shortcode for the "shop" and "shop overview" pages.

I have been through every single channel on the wordpress admin panel for woocommerce pages setup.

Please help so I can put up my store. The websites are:

http://www.artbazz.com

I would suggest contacting your hosting provider. It sounds like the wordpress installation was installed as a root admin level user and your ftp account doesn't have re-write ability. I've done this on accident before and its just a matter of being logged in as the root user and changing the chmod permissions on the theme folder as that user.

Regards,

Devin,

Sorry about the double post. I meant to delete it.

Ok, I normally ftp by deleting the old theme file and uploading the new file from my desktop.

With this theme, everytime I try to delete it, it tells me I don't have permission. I tried to sync the new file with the old and that doesn't work.
I tried 2 different ftp programs.

Themes purchased outside of Wordpress.org don't typically have the update option from within Wordpress itself.

You need to unzip the theme folder on your computer and then FTP to your site and replace the 1.8 files with the newly downloaded theme files. This is because your wordpress installation isn't letting you overwrite folders from within wordpress. Otherwise, you can contact your hosting provider and ask them for assistance in changing permissions on your wp-content folder to allow for that.

Once again, wordpress will not tell you at this point in time when the theme has an update available so just keep that in mind. You can also always check this topic: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/latest-theme-updates-please-check-if-yourre-using-an-outdated-theme-version

I didn't realize I had to go to facebook or twitter to get updates to flashlight. Now I know.

I usually update via ftp.

I tried to update in dashboard the same way I originally uploaded, just upload the zip file. But when I do that as in update in dashboard
it tells me the files are already there, but my theme is out of date, only 1.8. How do I update via dashboard?

With woocommerce you only click one button, they do the major work for you.

My dashboard says that all files are current. The flashlight does not have an update on it. I just updated woocommerce. to 2.0.7
I disabled my plugins 1. copyright and 2. rss

It still doesn't work.

I will re-download flashlight theme even though it says I am up to date. But, I have 2 instances of flashlight, how do I know which to download.
I see the license number on the download file, but I don't know where to find it on the dashboard instance of flashlight. Or, does it matter which one I use?

First try disabling all active plugins. There is at least one error with one of the javascript functions that is being loaded in. Specifically the "copyright protection" plugin as its not only interfering with the theme code but also our ability to troubleshoot your issues. As a side note, its also terrible user experience to disable right click menus on sites (and easily bypassed).

You will also need to update your theme files if you are using WooCommerce 2.0+. The Flashlight updates for the big 2.0 update of WooCommerce should help get the plugin working better with Flashlight as well as re-do the way images are attached to posts as that was redone with the most recent version of the theme.

You can download the updated theme files from your Downloads on Themeforest and then install them in the same way you first installed the theme.

Please help. I need help to move on.

Here is my "Shop" page and "Shop Overview" page. They are not integrated into the woocommerce "shop". Please help me, this is the second request.

http://artbazz.net/shop

http://artbazz.net/shop/shop-overview/

What do I do to integrate the page, it is listed in woocommerce > pages > shop, But it does not integrate. The "shop" nav bar is all over the page.

Shop base page template falls apart no matter what I do. No matter what page name I put in the "shop base page" > shop or gallery shop etc.,
when I look at the page the template is all over the page, all messed up. If I remove the page from the:
woocommerce > pages > page setup >shop base page -- then the page straighens up.

Is there something else I must do to get the shop base page to display normally?

I have: shop (no parent)
shop overview (shop parent)
checkout (shop parent)
cart (shop parent)

the shop page is in the woocommerce admin as "shop base page" -- when I look at it on the website the nav bar is skewed all over the page

Hi,

1) Just put the favicon.ico and apple-touch-icon.png in the root wordpress directory (next to wp-config.php file) You can use ftp to upload it or a plugin.

2) Portfolio items needs to be setup using Portfolio Items tab not the Page button. I am not sure what you mean by 'have images not show up' http://artbazz.net/about/ . I see background image and no errors.

3/4) I think the /shop/ page is reserved for WooCommerce main shop page. Its not a good idea to change it into a gallery. That could be the reason why it doesn't display the meta fields for the shopping cart on top. http://www.kriesi.at/themes/flashlight/shop/ .. Have you checked WooCommerce settings to see if that page is listed in WooCommerce as part of the store area? Because if you look at the demo, pages like about or contact do not have the metadata. So if your about page has them, that should mean you defined it somewhere within WooCommerce.

5) Tooltips are the bubbles with text that appear above an image or text when a mouse is placed over the text or image. The left sidebar structure is not tooltips, however it can be removed.

This CSS code will remove the thumbnails

.avia_fullscreen_slider_thumbs_inner {
display: none;
}

the css code below will remove the play/pause piece of sidebar on the bottom left

.arrowslidecontrolls_fullscreen {
display: none;
}

Just add it to your custom.css file or quick css in flashlight > theme options > styling.... on bottom of page

6) Yes, you need a new akismet key (they are free i think).

7) Yes, you will need to purchase an additional license for Flashlight to use on another website.

I am sorry if I missed anything, but there were a lot of questions :) If I did miss something please let us know.

Thanks,

I am in the middle of setting up flashlight and I absolutely love it, but I have a few questions I would appreciate help with.
my site is artbazz.net, I am new to flashlight, and have only put up one other wordpress site.

1.I put up a logo in the flashlight admin panel, but I don't see a place to but up a favicon.

Q)
Is there a simple way (non-code way) to put up a favicon?

2. I set up portfolio item as "photos", then I put pages up on them like-/photos/gallery,
this is the only setup where I could get pictures to show up.

I also put up pages directly named as, /contact, /about,etc.
I can't get pictures to show up on these pages.

The, /photos/pages, don't have the shopping cart info. at the top such as account-login-cart

The direct pages(not in a photos directory) do have the account-login-cart

Q)
Will this change when I format my woocommerce shopping cart?

The "shop" page I currently display, will probably be changed to the gallery or portfolio page after I set up my cart.

Q)
A different shop page is generated through woocommerce right?

On the "hide sidebar & content" for the background images I choose, "no tooltips" in the flashlight admin panel--but I still get the
"hide sidebar & content" at the bottom, which is of course, the tooltips..

Q) Can I hide that "hide sidebar & content"?

I have one akismet key from another wordpress site,

Q)
do I need a different akismet key for this and each new site?

I want to use another instance of "Flashlight" for another site-

Q) It will have a different license number and it is not possible to get them mixed up, right?

my flashlight website-in-progress is:
http://www.artbazz.net
