All the css that is used on that page is available via inspection. You can use Chrome dev tools and inspect the slideshow and compare to what you have now.

Hi jay,

Kindly open wp-content/themes/eunoia/framework/php/function-set-avia-frontend.php and find this code (line 796):

$output = __('Archive for category: ','avia_framework').single_cat_title('',false);

Just replace the text: Archive for category:

There is text under the main slider. Also, please click on the portfolio item entitled CHRISTMAS EVE CAN KILL YOU (2012). Ther eis text in the right sidebar that is transparent. If I remove main_color from the above list it works fine, but the background is white.

Hi rsn8,

The mailchip plugin uses the same clear class as the theme. The theme however hides the clear class and the mailchip version needs to be set to visible. Try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

#mc_embed_signup .clear {
visibility: visible;

Hello. I've embedded a Mailchimp mailing list sign up form on my site here:
I've also embedded a tiny version in the footer site wide. For some reason the prominent grey "Submit" button is not appearing in either instance. Is anyone aware of a fix to allow this code to display properly?

Hi rsn8,

The line height is a bit small it seems for the low hanging g. You can fix it by adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

#top .main_color.title_container .main-title {

Hi rsn8,

Just keep in mind the width is going to be determined by the container of the image in the theme. So if you need to image to be smaller than what the layout creates width wise, you'll need to put it on a white background in a photo editor (or a transparent background) for the width to be smaller.

The height on the other hand can be adjusted via Nicks methods above.

Great! Thats exactly what I was trying to achieve (and glad you like my work by the way!).
One detail is still a little weird. In the case of this page:
http://www.nemogould.com/portfolio-item/detritus-ascending/
The lower case "g" in the title gets the bottom cut off, and this is with the padding adjusted up to 80px. I prefer the look with the padding at 20 as you suggested. Any thoughts?

Hi,

Sorry, fault is mine.

What sizes do you plan on uploading? You see, in file functions.php on line 67 which looks like

$avia_config['imgSize']['featured']  = array('width'=>1140, 'height'=>461 );// images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider

There are constraints. You can change those numbers *however it will only affect new images you upload*. To change the sizes of current images you will need to install the following plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ and then in your Admin > Settings > Media, you will see all the image sizes available from the theme (including the ones from functions.php).

More importantly you will get an option to 'regenerate images' based on the new settings. I explain more about what's involved in this post. http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/portfolio-fullsize-image-height#post-89178

But your original image size, and how that compares to the constraints plays an important part in all this. If you plan on uploading images in various aspect ratios, you will not get optimal results.

I suggest you take one image, rename it 5 times. then create a page upload your image, then change the settings in functions.php (or using the plugin above) and create a new page and upload the same image with a new name and see how the size changed. You will quickly get the idea. Wordpress 3.5 just came out, and unfortunately for now this is the best recommendation I can offer since they made major changes to the media center.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi,

Wow that praying mantis is mad cool! I want that lol!

You can target specific screen sizes to change every item on any page as long as you know approximate screen sizes to target. But looking at your site, I think all sizes can use a bit of a trim. Please add the code below to Quick CSS or to your custom.css file. You can play with the two non zero numbers to position it better on top, and the last 20px is for below the image which was also a bit big (40px) before..

#main {
margin-top: 20px;
}
#top .title_container {
margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
}
#top .title_container .container {
padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
}
#top .padding-container {
padding-top: 20px;
padding-bottom: 20px;
}

Thanks,

Thanks for the response! I don't have an exact proportion in mind, I just wanted to try some options.
I inserted the code, but I'm not seeing the width adjust accordingly, only the height. I tried with both the "full width" and "adjust to page" settings. Am I missing something?

Hi,

What end result would you like to see regarding your height in pixels? You are 641 height at the moment. Just remember that scaling down while keeping the proportion of your image intact (without cropping) will change the width too (which is currently at 1140). So for example if you want your height to become 50% less (320px), your width will become 50% less as well (570px).

You can add this to your quick css located in Eunoia > Theme Options > Style .. the text area at bottom of that page

#top .slideshow.fade_slider {
height: 320px !important
}

Your other option is to prep your images first to make sure they are cropped the way you want to and are of the size you want to show. Wordpress is capable of doing that dynamically on its own, thought trusting the program's artistic eye may not lead to the best of results.

Thanks,

Hello. I'm wondering if there is a way to set a custom size for the "big slider" I've set up on my front page:
http://www.nemogould.com
I've toggled between "full width" and "adjust to page layout". In both cases I'm feeling like a little too much scrolling is required to get to other elements on the page.
Any advice?
Thanks.

Hello. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to adjust the padding above and below page and portfolio titles in Eunoia? I'd basically like to pull the main content higher on the page. I find that when viewing on lower resolution screens too much scrolling is required.
Here is a random page example:
http://www.nemogould.com/portfolio-item/praying-mantis/
Thanks

Hi Jay,

Try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

#top .logo {
    padding-top: 25px;
    padding-bottom: 0px;
}
#header .container {
    min-height: 140px;
}

The main one is the min-height since it restricts how tall the main container can be. Then its limited by the padding on the logo so I've set the bottom padding to 0. Just play with the values to get the effect you are looking for.

Regards,

Devin

I would like to reduce the amount of white space below the logo and menu on the front page (and all pages) as well as above and below the title on the portfolio item pages. I tried adding the following code to my custom css ::

.title_container h1 {
padding-top: 0px;
padding-bottom: 0px;
}

but it did not seem to make a change.

http://nemogould.com

can you help?

Hi,

Yes, you will lose all your settings but it will not delete any customization made on custom.css nor delete the templates that you have.

Regards,

Hmmm....

That doesn't sound like a great solution for me as I have customized so much of the site. Is there truly no other way?

Will hitting reset lose all my templates as well and rewrite over css files?

Thanks...Jay

Hi Devin :::...

I followed the instructions on the link you sent, but I'm still seeing the issue on the frontpage portfolio pagination.

It would be great if this feature was implemented in a future version of your theme.

thanks for trying.

I was able to create a workaround using the tools we had. I was able to create a look-a-like nav menu similar to the sortable on each type of portfolio category. What I did was use the template builder to create a new template for each category item. then I added a text area that shows the portfolio menu and then I added a portfolio section that only pulls from that specific category. Rinse and repeat for each category. Then I created distinct pages for each category type that uses the corresponding template for that category. ET voila. what you wanted.

You can see the results here :: http://nemogould.com

Thanks again...Jay
