Glad you were able to get it work. I seem to remember you modifying the title code at some point before so this might have been a step that you had already done that was written over by the update.

It would be a good idea to keep a changes.txt file to go along with the theme so you can keep track of any code changes to the theme files themselves. That way you can easily re-add things after an update.

Regards,

Hi Nick,

Thanks for heads up on the code error. It was residue of a wayward plugin gone bad. Now removed completely.

As far as the pip character goes, I tried to alter this in Yoast SEO but still had the same issue. I then removed the pipe symbol '|' from the title line 18 in header.php and this fixed the issue.

Thanks for looking anyway.

Hi,

Have you checked your settings ? What would happen if you put 2 pipe characters in Yoast SEO, would the initial pipe double as well?

Off Topic----

You have an error in your code from a plugin i guess. If you notice the /some-plugin-folder/ is missing after .co.uk

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.manscape.co.ukjwplayer.js?ver=3.5"></script>

Hi, after the last update the pipe symbol (vertical bar) '|' appeared a the beginning of the page title (browser bar) example here: http://www.manscape.co.uk/a/shaving/cream/ I have tried in vein to remove it it's still there. I already had one that separated the website name from the title. However this extra one appeared before the title.

How can I remove this please?

Thanks

Hi Devin
Thanks for that - okay a couple of things:

The button is now displaying to the left and the bread crumbs is still aligning with it. I am trying tog et the breadcrumbs to fall under it neatly. As for preventing the site to go live no it is not. I meant to say I will not put this site live until it has been fixed. I am still building it.

Thanks

Hi Vincent,

You can add the following to your Quick CSS or custom.css to change the positioning of the affiliate button:

p.cart{
float: left;
}

You can target that container to move the button to where ever looks good to you as well.

Thanks Martin, I'm a little mifed that this is an onbvious bug but nobody from the staff wants to talk about it or anounce a fix. I have been trying to get it to work now for a couple of days but still no luck yet. It still keeps appearing down the side. It got worse when I actiavted Jetpack share buttoms. I had to remove themas theya pepared in two different places.

Yeah, the formatting for affiliate buy buttons is "unlucky", and it gets even worse as soon as you activate the social sharing buttons in WooCommerce. I reported this earlier and a minor CSS fix was promised for one of the next updates.

In the meantime:

I suggest using Firebug to inspect the relevant CSS classes. Then you can play around with the CSS settings for this button in Firebug and watch the changes live - until it fits your needs.
I wanted mine to be bigger and have more whitespace around it so it sticks out, so I added some custom CSS and now it is ok.
It is not that difficult - and getting the hang of Firebug and basic CSS is unfortunately a necessity anyways, usually no pre-made theme does/shows everything exactly the way you want it to, so modifications have to be made....

cheers and good luck!
Martin

Hi,
When I set up a product as an affiliate link the Buy Now button appears to the right of the product and sits flush with the tags etc. It looks broken and not very nice.

If I set the product as a buy now product it appears in the left and works fine.

Is there a way I can get the Buy Now for Affiliate to work ont eh left the same as it is in the demo?

Thanks

Sure thing Vincent - actually it is just a tiny addendum to the modification that Dude posted:

errrr, wtf - looks like there are too many single quotes in that code, I can't post it here without the code (between code tags) getting partially executed...
one second, will post a screen...

here you go: http://d.pr/QQrK

That gives you the usual "Read more" link under the excerpt and can be translated as you can see on http://www.waldwort.com/blog

thanks Dude! will modify the code a bit further to show a nice "read more" link under the excerpt, but that was exactly what I (and most likely the others as well) was looking for.

Is there a certain secret policy ;-) about what forum posts are ignored and which not? I have so far received valuable and knowledgable feedback from staff almost immediately in several cases, other rather simple questions (like this one) and bug reports (like the post about the missing list formats in product description tabs) are flat out ignored.

This question here is of interest to at least 3 paying customers, and even if you consider it to be a customization topic, it would be nice to hear either
- a solution
- a hint in which file/function/whatever we could start looking,
- or at least a blatant: "not our problem, do not expect a solution from us" - or maybe a "have to ask Kriesi, expect answer next week".

thanks for talking to us. :)

*bump* + one more voice added :)

of course one could use the "more" tag in the content, but using custom excerpts on blog overview and archive pages has a lot of advantages (more customization, more value for SEO).

Would be cool if we could select this in the template designer's "blog" section, like a tick box "use custom excerpts where available"
