Hi Doug,

Can you link to the page that is having the issue?

Make sure to disable all active plugins while trying to figure this out in case one of theme is causing a conflict.

Regards,

I have a standard content page on my site (WP 3.5) using the Choices template. I was able to add and modify content when I created the page several days ago. Now I cannot make any change to it unless I cut the content in half. Any additional content, modifying content, even deleting a period.... produces a "404 - page not found" error. But if I cut the content in half, it will update. There is not a lot of content on this page! Also, I tried copying the content and pasting it into a new page and I get the 404 error there too.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Doug

Hi remeoner,

Have you tried changing your permalinks? Go to Settings > Permalinks and switch to one not already selected, click save/update, refresh the website then test to see if the pagination works. If it does, go back to Settings > Permalinks and repeat the process - only this time select the permalink structure you want to use.

Regards,

ashtonhall.org - I have worked with this theme on other sites without this problem, however for some reason when I click on page 2 or next page in my portfolio I get a 404 error. I was hoping that after I update to v1.7 that, that would resolve the issue, however that is not the case. All my settings are correct, portfolio is the page, 6 posts per page, show pagination.

Hey,
1) Try to flush your permalinks - go to Settings > Permalink and click on "Save". Make sure that you use a valid permalink structure.

2) Make sure that the portfolio slug does not equal a page or post name. Otherwise wordpress will output 404 errors for all portfolio items.

Hey,
like Chris I couldn't reproduce the 404 error. If I click on a slide the right post displays with the whole content (no 404 error message, etc.). Maybe try if it's browser or internet connection related. How does the url look like in your browser bar?

Hi Cris. Thanks for the response. Sadly haven't managed to solve it. I have tried creating new posts and although they appear in the slider, and in the area below, when clicked they both reveal the error code mention previously. Was thinking i might have to re-install the theme, any thoughts?

I know some users/experts who recommend against %category%/%postname%/ because of resource reasons, etc. (this structure can cause longer page loading times on large websites). Personally I use this structure nevertheless because it gives me reasonable urls whereas some numbers or date slugs aren't "pretty" or useful in any way. However if you've a news website/large website (many entries) or if you need to take care of page loading times (i.e. slow hardware/hoster) you should use another structure. An overview can be found here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

I downloaded all the latest files, including the portfolio.php file, (re)uploaded all of them to my site, deleted all cache, and the Portfolio Entries section is still not present on the dashboard.

After looking at the Portfolo.php file and a little trial and error I discovered the Direct URL to portfolio cats - http://certainwisdom.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=portfolio_entries

Also, there is a lot of discussion above about permalinks, what they should be and re-setting.

/%category%/%postname%/ is what I have saved. Is this still correct?

it sounds like theme_options/portfolio.php is missing or corrupt. Try to (re)upload this file. The portfolio categories are terms and are assigned to the "portfolio_entries" taxonomy (the code can be found in theme_options/portfolio.php)

Hey,
1) Try to flush the permalinks - go to Settings > Permalinks in your wp-admin menu and click "save" there.

2) You can build a custom menu by using the menu manager under Appearance > Menus. You can include/exclude any pages, categories, etc. by using this manager. A tutorial can be found here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/i-can%E2%80%99t-create-a-custom-menu-the-menu-behaves-weird

Also, is there a way for the home page to not show as a menu option?

I am having a problem with all of the added pages giving a "page not found error" when clicked on. I originally installed the dummy info to help fill out the content and thought that there might be a problem with that, so I deleted and reinstalled the theme but I'm still getting the error. Didn't see where anyone was having this issue. Thanks in advance. http://www.berndtcompany.com
