The slider works better now - I just noticed a small shift between the transitions. You can try to replace:

with:

- otherwise the styling code of the slider doesn't work as expected.

Nick, my hands are tied because the whole website rests on a shopping cart platform. Aside from switching shopping carts, I'm locked into whatever arcane stuff the platform uses :(.

Hi,

Wow! An ASP 3.0 website, I miss that language still. But I would consider switching to table-less design. It was very difficult to switch to css/div but Google Developer Tools make life a lot easier making changes than it was possible with tables. Good luck!

On the Featured Media there is "Apply link to the image?" option, you can select "Link Manually" then supply the URL. If you don't want any link select "No Link".

Sorry if this isn't in the right place but I don't seem to be able to find where to start a new topic OR find a topic which is answering my question and I don't have hours to search it out.

I have purchased the Avia Slider and need to know these things:

- How do I link the slides to other web-pages or remove the links?
- How do I change the width of the slider?

Any help, links to answers etc. would be great thanks.

For overall SEO the image vs a few lines of html shouldn't make any difference on your search ranking. If you have the content elsewhere it will only get read by any crawlers once anyway.

Lists specifically you'll have issues with. You can add other html into the caption box (divs or anything else) but lists inside the slideshow are already getting effected by all the list rules that create the slideshow. Not impossible, just messy.

As an example, if you wrap the list in a div called html-slide, you would then need to add the following css to your custom.css file or Quick CSS:

.html-slide ul {
    display: block;
}
#top .html-slide ul li{
    display: block;
    visibility: visible !important;
    position: relative;
}
.html-slide {
    display: block;
}

Hi Devin,

For SEO this is not really the way to go. And when making changes to the content it's very time consuming.
No other option to add the 'li' tag, since 'em' does work its a bit strange...

Any ideas?

Thanks Devin for your response.

That put the controls there, though that isn't the problem I'm having.

The photos are all being loaded, one after another, all of them displayed, then all but one disappear. Then instead of the transition, the next image seems to load a top part of the image, then the image is swapped out. There is no nice transition.

I'm wondering if there is a specific version of php required for the scripts or am I doing something wrong in the html?

It looks like you are missing the controlls.gif and the bg.jpg files. The controlls.gif may be the issue. Check the main files you downloaded and it should be images>layout folder. Then upload it to your images>layout folder.

I just bought and followed the instructions above, but I must be missing something - which is easy for me to do unfortunately. I made the mods to where the files are located and everything is uploaded, but the result I'm getting is quite different from what it should be.

Here is my example - apologies in advance. I would appreciate any help to make this work like it's supposed to, instead of how I have it.

Hi hotspot,

You can use iframe content as a slide but it would be loading in another html page into the slideshow area and not adding it directly to there.

If you wanted it to appear like a caption, the most basic and probably best route is to create your image with the text list and use only an image instead of trying to add basic html.

Tbh I'm not sure if this is possible and I'll mark the thread for Kriesi. A possible workaround would be to call slideWrapper.methods.switchSlide() directly in the init function/constructor - by going this way you'll display the "second" slide as "first" slide however you don't need to take care of the animation code...

Hi,

Great script so far :). However, I did have one nuance I was hoping you could help with.

My client would like the first slide to "transition" in like the other slides - as opposed to just showing up after the preloading icon. I am assuming I need to edit the preloadingDone function but I'm not really sure how to call the transition.

Any insight on how to do this is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately this does not have any kind of editor other than HTML and is not a plugin but a stand alone set of code used.

You need to build the slideshow using the code sample and then paste in the HTML to your page where you want it.

If you can view the HTML of your home page, then you can use this.

Hi Devin,

for embed code, I mean to copy and paste the hotml code into my webpage and so to get it published.

The thing is for making my website I do not use dreamweaver, or anything similar to that. But I use a WYSIWYG website platform like word press. In my case is SBI! So there is no html code involved.

That's why I need to understand how I can use this plugin and have an embed code to copy in paste as a RAW HTML code into my home page.

Maybe do I have to use a CMS?

Hi David,

You'll need to add the first part into the head section of your html file so that it pulls the proper scripts. Then the second bit of code into the main body of your html file where you want the actual slideshow to appear. The content of each slide will be the image src as in the demo.

I'm not sure what you mean by embed code, could you explain a bit more?

Hey,
first include following files in the head section (before the closing head tag which looks like
):

And in the body section, add following code to display the slideshow/images:

Obviously you need to adjust the url to the images and the slideshow css/js files.

Hi All,

I just bought Aviaslider because I want to use it as a photo gallery slider show in my travel website.

Honestly I thought was kind of easy to set up this plugin, but I did not find any set up instructions in the file zip to help me out, and there is nothing at all in internet to take for granted.

I am now disappointed!

How someone can sell something without giving instructions?

Anyway...apart my critics...Can anyone kindly show me how to use this plugin into my website?

I do not use it word press but SBI for building my website.

Thanks a million to that person will stop by and be so gentle to help me.

David

Search for following code in jquery.aviaSlider.js:

$('

').appendTo(slideWrapper).css({
								zIndex:20,
								position:'absolute',
								display:'none',
								left:posX,
								top:posY,
								height:options.blockSize.height,
								width:options.blockSize.width,
								backgroundPosition:bgOffset
							});

However be careful because you can break the animation easily.

Tbh it's hard to say what causes the issue without investigating the slider code first hand. However you can try to use following html code instead:

Because the a href element is not required.
