Hi,

For the following test site http://ecbiz124.inmotionhosting.com/ the blog posts are not showing up on the blog page. The post categories are set correctly and the page template is set to "blog".

Is there a checklist of things you can post so that I can make sure that I'm not missing anything? Or can we make this a private post and I can provide credentials so you can access the site?

Thanks!

I mistakenly hit the infamous "Insert Dummy Data" button in Propulsion trying to tweak a minor issue... I lost all my formatting and have been rebuilding my blog site eversince. I cannot get my blogs to show up on the frontpage like they used to do, in chronological order.

I have tried everything I know to do... all my posts are in archive now, and they only appear via catagorie on my current "temporary" front page.... see http://www.bobparr.org to see what I mean....

Is there a simple fix to this? I am not CSS or HTML savy but I can cut n paste if someone will direct me to the backend location.. thanks.... Bob

And also, I have set up a page as Home Page, which then shouldn't show the blog posts, but it does. It displays the content of my page and the latest blog post, which I don't want at all

Thanks for the response Ishmael.

I still can't get embedded videos/images to show up in the blog feed without clicking through to the single post that they are embedded in. Feel free to look at my website to see what I'm referring to at http://pinebrand.com/blog/?page_id=201. The most recent post has a .png embedded in it but it does not show up on the feed until you click through to the individual post.

Also, when I search my site's URL in Google, the following comes up:

How can I remove this warning and replace it with text?

Thanks again,

Hello,

To remove the lightning hr just put this on your custom.css

.hr {
display: none;
}

Flashlight by default will show the whole blog posts unless you put <!-- more --> on your post editor which will designate the above text as excerpt.

I tried adding that code to my custom.css file and the lightning bolt icon disappeared but there it's been replaced by a box that overlaps with post content. See what I mean here: http://pinebrand.com/blog/?page_id=201. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

Hi,

Just for clarification - Are you referring to your RSS feed or your actual blog page?

To remove the lightning bolt icon add this to your custom.css or Quick CSS:

.hr {
    background: none no-repeat scroll center center #eeeeee;
}

What that will do is remove the lightning bold image but keep the grey line.

Now with the Facebook and Twitter links you have to be careful about the " you use in "_blank" so you'll want to type it like this:

if($facebook = avia_get_option('facebook')) echo "<li class='facebook'><a target='_blank' href='".$facebook."'>Facebook</a></li>";
if($twitter = avia_get_option('twitter')) 	echo "<li class='twitter'><a target='_blank' href='http://twitter.com/".$twitter."'>Twitter</a>

How do you display the entire blog post instead of the title and a preview in the blog feed? My Reading Settings are already set to display the entire text, but for some reason the feed is still showing just a preview. Is there something within the theme that I have to change to make this work?

Any help is appreciated.

Edit: Also, is there a way to remove/change the lightning bolt icon between blog posts?

Edit 2: Is there a way to have your Twitter and Facebook pages open in a separate page? I tried adding target="_blank" to the links within the sidebar.php file but got an error message. Any ideas?

Hi Devin,

I apologize the site was sandboxed when I asked for help earlier. Now it's launched and public you can go to http://kbctech.com/blog and see that it only lists the sidebar archives but not the posts in the main container. Do you know how to fix this.

Thanks,

Jerome

Hi Unique1,

I could not locate the blog page on kbctech.com. Could you provide a link directly to the directory where you have attempted to install the Broadscope theme into WordPress?

If you have are having issues installing WordPress, the WordPress codex located here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress is a great resource.

Thanks,

Devin

My blog posts are not showing up on the blog page for the following site:

kbctech.com

So far we have reinstalled the theme, copied the template-blog.php file using editor and compared code to a successful working domain and don't see a difference. See working domain below.

jeromesouth.com

Do you know how to fix this?
Many thanks,

As far as I know the advanced excerpt plugin just avoids that wp strips html content. If your image is within the excerpt text it should be displayed automatically.

HI Dude,

Can you pls let me know if there's anything else I need to do to get the thumbnail pics working. I've done what you've suggested by installing the plug in but I can't see anywhere to insert the pics. Is there something I need to do in the backend?
Thanks

Thanks Dude. I downloaded this plugin you recommended and configured the settings. Is there code that I need to insert into the blogpost itself in the backend as the excerpt is not appearing in the post for me to amend it and add the pic.

Sorry for all the questions, but when I saw the live demo of the Theme, I assumed that this functionality was provided out of the box.

Thanks for your help.

You can use this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-excerpt/ - it helps you to display images in post excerpts. By default wordpress strips html tags + images from excerpts/summaries.

Thanks Dude, that's great. Would never have found that.

But to answer the second part of my question - do you have any idea why the thumbnail pics are not appearing in the blog summary the same as the demo you have on Themeforest.? Example, see the first blog entry which has a pic uploaded to the section on the backend. I have added a pic in the size required but it's not appearing in the summary for some reason. Would you mind taking a look when you get a chance please? Appreciate your help. Thanks /D
