The codex on the author template and the calls to display author information may help: http://codex.wordpress.org/Author_Templates

So if its on a post inside the loop you would use:

<p>Written by:
<?php the_author_posts_link(); ?></p>

Or something like that. It just depends on exactly how and where.

Hi,

I installed Buddypress to my Enfold site and everything seemed fine. Then I installed the BP Template plugin to supposedly make it work with Enfold. However, now my Advanced Layout Editor is gone on every single page. If I switch to Default Editor it shows up, but then I click on Advanced Layout Editor and it just shows a blank space.

Any ideas how to get it back?
Thanks.

In your theme files, just about all loops are in the includes folder. For the author, its loop-author.php.

When a user clicks on the author link on a blog post, it will currently lead them to the author archive page, as is standard for most WP themes. However, as I am using Enfold for a Buddypress site (looking great so far), I need the author link to go to that user's BP profile page instead. Can you help me accomplish this?

Hello,
I am useing Propulsion Theme with the Buddy Press Xtra Signup Plugin (to get more files uplon user registration)

The default privacy rules for each Data (Phone, Adress, E-Mail...) can be set by the user.
The Visibility of these Options can be toggled.

But it does not work in Propulsion theme. Even when I disable all other plugins.
But It works with all default Wordpress Themes but not with Propulsion.
click on "Ändern"

it just did not hide. They are all open.

For those also struggling with this, the item that needs to be altered in replete-child/style.css is on line 5, not line 11. For me, Replete had to be changed to replete to match the name the theme uses for it's theme folder. Line 11 already had the lowercase, but line 5, where it says Templete: Replete, had to be changed to Template: replete, for this to work. Cheers!

When I install the replete-child theme, either via the dashboard or FTP, I get a message that says "The parent theme is missing. Please install the "Replete" parent theme." Even though the parent theme is right there. Does the change to functions.php have to be made in order to get the child theme to even work at all? And if so, what happens with the next update to replete, will the child theme stop working?

Hi Brendan,

Yes, the code you put inside Quick CSS is stored in the database, so when you update the changes you made won't be lost (only changes on theme files will be lost during an update as the theme files will be replaced). But if ever you update, just backup both theme and database just to make precautions.

Regards,

Hi,

First, you should have Firebug installed or if you are using Chrome you can simply right click and "Inspect Element" on any object in your browser to check it. This is the link to Firebug plugin. http://getfirebug.com/

You can place all your modification on Quick CSS box or custom.css located on the theme's css folder.

This links might help if you're just starting to learn CSS.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Hi.
Buddypress 1.7 is just about to be released and it has support for ANY theme. I am currently testing their beta plugin on a test install using the Replete theme.

At first glance it looks great but there are some minor issues with font and button sizes. I am willing to try my hand at CSS styling as the job looks quite minor.

Q. Could you show me where I can learn how to do this + what I should do with your theme?

Cheers!

I had the same problem, and the child theme didn't work for me (Replete 1.0). It seems that Replete currently doesn't support child themes.

So I changed line 160 in functions.php from

wp_register_style( 'avia-custom',get_template_directory_uri()."/css/custom.css", array(), '1', 'screen' );

to

wp_register_style( 'avia-custom',get_stylesheet_directory_uri()."/css/custom.css", array(), '1', 'screen' );

and put my styles into replete-child/css/custom.css.

I think all the wp_register_style() calls around line 160 should be changed from get_template_directory_uri() to get_stylesheet_directory_uri(), then we could override the styles. I didn't look at the other register calls, maybe they should be changed as well.

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Bernhard

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I've put up a child replete theme here

Replete Child-Theme Download

.. Just download the zip and install it as you would any theme, and activate it. If your parent theme folder is called anything other than 'replete' (capitalization counts), then you will need to modify line 11 of style.css in the child theme folder.

Thanks,

Nick

Howdy everyone, can anyone at all help me in creating a child theme for replete that will allow me to override the default styling?

I have looked at the WordPress codex and I have created child themes before...but having an issue with my css in the child theme not overriding the parent theme (replete).

Ps. I tried searching the forums here to see if there were any other similar cases as mine but couldn't find one.

Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me with this. Cheers :)
