Do you have any plugins installed? Try to re-install the theme. When you create a page and assign it as your Blog page on Theme Options, all posts should be individually linked to itself by default. In your case, all posts are link to the news page. I'm not sure how this happened. I mean, our blog posts all feed to the News Page, but how do you get each post to link off into its own individual post? We need to be able to allow comments. Generally, anything that is a feed of other posts/pages/categories/tags etc isn't considered a page but just an aggregate of other posts or pages. Logically, from the point of view of wordpress a page with a loop in it wouldn't be getting responded to because its displaying pieces of other posts (where comments would be shown). They can only work on regular pages or posts. If you have a regular post or page with the comments turned on but are not showing up, can you link it here so we can inspect it live? However none of the pages or posts have any option for comments. I've already checked "discussions" and checked everything to make sure nothing interfered. I've disabled all plugins to do with comments. I've read previous posts in the forums but cannot find a solution. The only way to add a comment is for me to be logged in and edit the post and add a comment beneath the post on edit page. I did not change any of the .php or add additional css. I've tried it on responsive layout and fixed and the results are always the same. I do have bbpress on the site but as far as I know that should not interfere with the comments. Please let me know what I can do to fix this! First try downloading the theme files from Themeforest again so that you have a fresh copy to work with. There is actually an update to the theme available so while troubleshooting this it would probably be a good idea to update the theme as well. Specifically the framework files since there was security update in 1.3. Make a backup of the files you've edited within the theme so that you can re-add in your changes and replace them on the live site and see if comments are working. Or you haven't closed the commands properly (a stray parenthesis, or a semi colon missing, or an unclosed div). Really, you shouldn't need to change the .php files unless it's to change the way that the theme runs. To hide boxes etc you can use css commands which are easier to fix if anything goes wrong. I would put back the original .php files of the three that you changed, so that we can see if the comments are working. Then we can see how to make the changes that you need to hide the author boxes etc. You can get the original .php files from inside the .zip file of the original shoutbox download. Try that and see what happens. rich The blog meta is the little line of text that tells you the date the post was made, which category it's in, who posted it etc etc. It usually appears under the title of the post. That should appear, even if the comments are off. When you said that you made changes to Shoutbox, what did you change exactly? Did you change any of the .php files? I have checked everything - all the discussion box options, screen options: comment fields, discussion, comments and the quick edit options: allow comments, allow pings. On the post page under discussion, I’ve checked: allow comments, allow pingbacks and trackbacks on this page. I’ve also checked and then unchecked show avatars. What I can’t figure out is why a reply box only shows when I activate the Twenty Eleven theme for testing purposes. I have made changes to Shoutbox but only those that I found on the support forum for Shoutbox. Is there somewhere that I could look in the theme to make sure the correct information is there? In comments.php or loop-comments.php? I can make changes to files such as these if I’m told what to do!
