Hi Michael,

Use this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

Then set the fullsize image size to the bigger size you want or if its the featured, then you can change that as well. After each change you'll need to regenerate your thumbnails to get the new sizes generated for previously uploaded images.

Hi there, when I upload a 2400x2400 image to Featured media in a blog post, the Propulsion crops off the top and bottom. If I upload a 300x300 version, it doesn't crop, but it scales larger and we lose quality.

How do I set Propulsion to not crop at all? If the image is 2400x2400, I want to see the full image even though it won't be 2400 wide thanks to your FANTASTIC responsive CSS.

hope you can help,
Michael

The thumbnails are not centered on the demo site. Look at the balloon. All the thumbnails align to the left.

No worries, I stripped out the featured function and used the same effect as the link I posted that does center the thumbnails.

Hi azimpact,

You can check the demo site: http://www.kriesi.at/themes/newscast/

As you can see in the demo site, if the mouse is not hovered on the accordion thumbnails, by default those thumbnails/images are centered. Can you post a link to your site? so we can check it further.

Not the approach I'm looking for.

I want them centered like this does :http://humanreconstruction.com/

In fact, when I bought this theme I thought I was getting that one. My fault for not paying attention. Won't happen again.

I'm stripping out this themes accordion and am going to add that themes which uses kwicks.

Not the ideal approach since the theme won't center thumbnails and I can't get a refund, I really have no choice.

Thanks.

Hi,

I wrote a lengthy answer below, but after re-reading your post a number of times i am no longer certain what it is that you are asking. Please look at the demo site http://www.kriesi.at/themes/newscast/ , and run your mouse over the images in the accordion (i am guessing by your last sentence that is what you were talking about? though i am not sure where thumbnail comes into play).

Plan A) *the easy way* Using FTP , find the image in the folder on your server that you do not like, and replace it with an image that you like which you already cropped, resized yourself using photoshop., replacing the old with the new.

Warning: Algebra, Formulas Ahead

[I hope your Algebra/Geometry teachers used to tell the class ; 'Why can't you all be as smart as ____(fill in your name)]

Plan B)
Always upload images bigger than the size you want those images to shrink down to. So if you are uploading images whose thumbnails you want to be 700 x 320 , then both the width of the image you upload must be bigger then 720 and the height of the image you upload must be bigger then 320. *BUT* the aspect ratio of the image you upload *must* also be identical to the aspect ratio you want your thumbnail to be. This would require for you to use photoshop or a similar program to make sure that you resize or crop if necessary the image.

You can use the standard proportion formula to plug in the number and solve for x (or use a calculator online ). You need the height and width of your ideal size (what you want the image you upload to become). And you need either the height or the width of your current image you will be uploading. After you enter those 3 numbers into the formula, and solve, it will give you the size of the width or height your current image needs to get cropped to in order to be proportional to the perfecrt/ideal image and not get cropped by Wordpress.

The Math: Proportions

(get the pocket protector out and put on the bifocals)

You will first need to figure out how to crop /resize your image in order to make it proportional to your perfect sized image prior to upload (remember it must be bigger) , so you will need to pick either height or width (up to you) that will be cropped.

perfect height / perfect width = current height of image i will upload (no crop) / X (what my width should be cropped to)
or
perfect height / perfect width = X (what my height should be cropped to) / current width of image i will upload (no crop)

Example Exercise 1: Algebra use in Real World

Your image before upload is 490x200 and you want the thumbnail (ideal size) to be 100x50. You dont want to crop the 200 (height) but are ok to crop some of the 490 (width) and are not sure how much needs to be removed so your image becomes proportional:

(100/50) = (x/200) is (100*200)/50 = 400 ;;; an image 100x50 is proportional to an image 400x200 so if your image is 490x200, you must remove 90 pixels from the height, or wordpress will do it for you. (Of course since you are removing the height yourself you can remove 20 from the top and 70 from the bottom or whichever way makes the most sense).

If x is identical to the size of your image that you left out after you solved, then your image is already proportional to the ideal size and you should do nothing but upload it..

Class dismissed, and don't forget to read pages 34 to 190 for a surprise quiz tomorrow.

Thanks,

Hello,
I have the following problem: The pictures of my products on the item/product side are correctly uploaded and appear as they should.But on the front page, under "new products" and "new on shop" they appear cropped, which doesn t look good.
How can I avoid that the images from the item page appear cropped on the frontpage?

Thanks for answering.

I've found some posts about this over a year old and am wondering if I am missing something obvious.

Is there a way center the thumbnail so that more of the image is shown prior to them mousing over it to see the full image?

Right now, it shows everything starting from the left side so there is not a lot of image showing in thumbnail.

kwicks accordion js does it so I'm sure it can be done, I just can't figure out how.

Hello all,

When I installed Eunoia my main page slide show displayed my photographs at full resolution (roughly 2084 x 1600) and I absolutely LOVED the way it looked but unfortunately I had a problem where my photo galleries were displaying a question mark on the gallery thumbnail and weren't changing from black and white to color when the cursor hovered over it. My solution was to delete the photographs from my media library and re-upload them. Then when I went back to the main page to re-add the new photographs to the slide show but I found it crops the image at the top and bottom - a major disappointment since I'm hoping to show potential clients examples of my work right from the main page.

Please help!! My temporary website URL is listed below. I'm hoping to get this resolved so my site can go live by the end of the week.

Thanks!

Hi Sylvie,

Sorry about that, I noticed that something is wrong, this is the code that you need to change the height and width (still in functions.php):

$avia_config['imgSize']['featured'] = array('width'=>990, 'height'=>360 ); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider

Don't forget to regenerate the thumbnails after.

For the 2nd question, kindly disable the plugin disabling the right click and enable it after we are done.

Hi throsenb,

Each time you post a response here it actually pushes your post back further in our Queue system since we go by oldest posted within each topic. Just keep that in mind to get a quicker response in the future :)

As for the issue, you have the following css in your custom.css file which is preventing your images from showing fully:

.slideshow_container.slide_container_small {
max-height: 216px!important;
overflow: hidden;
}

You just need to remove that and the images will be able to show all the way.

Regards,

Hi Antiplume,

The min-height is what I was going to suggest as well so following the directions from the topic alainaho linked should work for you.

As for the images, you can set them to no crop using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ without having to modify the functions.php directly.

Just make sure to regenerate the images after you've made a change with the plugin.

Regards,

Hi!

Did you regenerate the thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ after your "crop'=>false" code mod?

Best regards,
Peter

This is the solution that I used to fix the long title problem: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/portfolio-overview-page-title-area-sizing

It's not perfect, since it doesn't look so great when the screen is resized down (too much padding below) or when there's only one line of title text (again, too much empty space below), but it does line up the thumbnail images.

Dear Mr. Ismael,

I have tried changing "crop'=>false" and tried changing height but it remained un-changed.

Please suggest.

Your urgent response will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

PS: changing of height on this portfolio entry page code also does not have any impact.
