No, you don't need to add them manually. Just add it on the custom fields then make sure to update the event. Remove browser history or cache then reload the page.

Unfortunately the theme framework does not support custom post types at the moment and Kriesi just added an option for portfolio posts (hardcoded post type + taxonomy) and "standard" posts/pages. You'd need to change some files in the framework folder and register-admin-dynamic-options.php to modify the template builder options. Depending on your php skills you maybe need to hire a freelancer/php coder for this task. You can also try the ether content plugin: http://codecanyon.net/item/ether-content-builder-wordpress-plugin/1690784 but I'm not sure if it supports custom post types.

Hi there,
I'm loving the Choices theme, and am interested in finding a way to pull in a custom post type and its custom fields into three columns for my frontpage template. So instead of having a column pull all posts by category, I'd like it to pull all Features (custom post type) by custom taxonomy (Concerts, say).

I'd prefer to do this using the template builder and CPTs instead of posts, and modifying whatever I have to to get it to work,but am open to other suggestions, as well.

Any ideas?

Hi

Not sure if anyone has looked at this issue but after a very long research process I found the solution and it thought I would post it in case someone else has the same problem ( the creator of OiO publisher foound it for me - I would never have guessed or found this one - so thanks Simon :-)

The style.css in newscast has .js_active #main img set it hidden (not sure why this is - maybe you can give the reason Kriesi?) anyways find this code in style.css

.js_active #main img {

    visibility: hidden;

}

And change hidden to visible and refresh your cache etc etc and voila - JavaScript ad code for OiO publisher ads embedded in a page or post using custom fields short code plugin - are now fully working

Hope this helps someone

Hi

Firtly of all I have purchases all your themes and love them and been a long time user of them but this issue is stumping me- I have been at it for 2 days nows

We swtiched our theme to Newscast and we are using OiO Publisher as our ad server plugin and the sidebar widgets/code seem to be working fine but not the embed custom fields or any custom fields plugin

I cant get a javascript or a php ad code to ppear in any post or page

I dont want to put in t template file as each post and page has its own separate ad code and zone

Site is in maintenance mode now but happy to share back end access if you PM me - am happy to pay someone for halp as well
Is there some special code i have to add to functions for them to appear?

When I switch themes back to any other theme..all the ads are appearing fine..just not within posts and pages in Newscast

BTW its this simple little plugin I am using http://gonahkar.com/wordpress-plugins/custom-fields-short code/

custom field would be

Thanks in advance

Hi ovistomih,

The link Peter provided should give you the details needed to display your own meta fields into the custom post type you've created. The simple loop example specifically shows how to insert the code into the loop: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_post_meta#Simple_Loop_Example

What you'll need to do though, is create a new if statement in the header.php to check for your new post type and display the new custom field in the same spot as the themes.

The additional headline of the theme is not a simple custom field so you wouldn't be able to just add the same named custom field to a new post type.

Regards,

My problem in detail:

1. With Content Types I've created a new post type called: "MyPostType"
2. For this post type I've created a custom meta box called: "Additional post options" with a text field with the id "myheadline"

How do I make the text I insert in this meta box display as the additional headline?

PS. I created the custom meta box because the one titled "Additional page/post options" that shows in the theme's regular pages/posts doesn't show up on my custom Post Type

I need to be able to change the way Portfolio items are displayed on the Portfolio overview page. By default, they appear in reverse chronology, based on the post date stamp. However, I would like to be able to order the posts by the value of a custom field. I have had some success by modifying line 12 of loop-portfolio.php as follows:

if(isset($avia_config['new_query'])) { query_posts($avia_config['new_query']); }

changed to:

if(isset($avia_config['new_query'])) { query_posts ( '&post_type=portfolio&meta_key=show_date&orderby=meta_value&order=ASC'); }

However, by removing
$avia_config['new_query']
, I am no longer able to choose which categories are displayed; regardless of what I set in the template builder, posts from all categories are output.

Can anyone offer a solution?

Many thanks!

Hey,
you can use the get_post_meta function: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_post_meta to retrieve custom field data. I'd include the code in includes/loop-portfolio-single.php or includes/loop-portfolio.php (depends on your needs).

2) In loop-portfolio.php replace:

the_excerpt();

with:

if ( "1" == $avia_config['portfolio_columns'] )
{
    the_excerpt();

Hey Martin,

The only required fields for actual registration are User name, email and password. The required fields for checking out does include the phone number. Its just that if you require registration before checkout they get combined into one page to make the user not have to go through so many hoops.

As for adding new fields/removing which are required, I remember reading that WooCommerce might be adding that ability in later but for now it is not part of the built in features so you would need to modify the WooCommerce plugin itself.

nobody? you guys all happy with the fields WooCommerce provides and the fact that clients have to reveal their phone number (or enter a fake one....) for a simple online order?

Would appreciate if someone could share a way to modify the fields and how to make them (not) mandatory.

Or has anyone tested if plugins like Cimy User Extra Fields work with WooCommerce?

thanks & cheers

sheeeesh - have been staring at the screen for too long recently and seemingly can't find the point where to start, neither in Abundance settings nor in those of WooCommerce... LOL

I would like to customize the user registration form, since I do not need some of the fields for my business, but would like to include others. Is that possible, and if yes, WHERE??? ;-)

And second challenge: some of the fields are set to "required" by default, but actually are NOT required in my opinion. E.g. I would love to give my customers the ability to enter their phone number, but do not want to force them to do so. Where can this be changed?

thanks for pointing an old blind man into the right direction... ;-)
cheers

Thanks for your reply, Chris. I was able create a new page template titled "home" and created a new loop-page.php and just removed the h1 tag.

What I would like to do is use Custom fields to assign an ID to a page that I can use over and again - so that I can create .CSS styles for each of those reusable IDs...(So the customer can easily implement).

However, after reading about creating new page templates, and the way your file structure is in Broadscope, I think I have solved my problem.

Thanks!

P.S. I can pay you for your time, if you can help modify the "broadscope" slideshow so that the Slide image can be 1800px wide, like this:

http://themeforest.net/item/explode-corporate-blog-portfolio-wp-theme/full_screen_preview/473140

I would try to do it, but know nothing about PHP or Javascript and it will take forever.

My client is paying for this, so it will have to be done one way or another..I have already chosen your theme, which we love.

Hey,
in your includes folder you can edit the loop-index.php file to remove the h1 tag

<h1 class='post-title'>
	<a href="<?php echo get_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark" title="<?php _e('Permanent Link:','avia_framework')?> <?php the_title(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
</h1>

I'm confused why you'd want to add an ID to pages, every wordpress page already has it's own ID. Am I missing something here? I think this could be of help, I read it diagonally so I'm not really sure whether or not it is helpful.

How can I remove the H1 element from the the home page? Also is there a way to add an ID to a specific page by using custom fields?

I love your themes by the way!

Hey,
for portfolio entries you must activate the "custom fields" manually. Open up portfolio.php and search for:

'supports' => array('title','thumbnail','excerpt','editor','comments')

Replace it with:

'supports' => array('title','thumbnail','excerpt','editor','comments','custom-fields')
