Hi BWIdaho,

I'm not really sure what the issue is but if you apply the css above (from Ismael) the single page for the individual case looks correct with the sidebar and layout all positioned as it should be.

Thanks for helping Ismael.

I am still confused. I took another close look at the page source differences between a regular blog post and a custom post and the I see all the same divs with exception of <div class="status"> and some of the <div class="post-10 cases type-cases status-publish hentry category-idaho tag-air tag-land tag-water tag-wildlife post-entry post-entry-type-standard post-entry-10 post-loop-1 post-parity-odd post-entry-last single-small with-slider">, where cases would normally be posts. On the single custom post for cases, the sidebar even gets floated to the bottom of the page. I'm not sure why the css isn't being applied.

Thank Devin for your help.

I have managed to get custom posts to feed into the blog and almost look like regular blog post but is missing some of the html. The custom posts have the small meta box picture to the left but the content is flowing over into the left margin because it is missing or because the css classes for the blog are not being applied. What can I do? Thank you so much. I seriously google a ton before asking question and I feel I understand more.

Hi Bethany,

A page template in wordpress is what would be selected from the templates dropdown when creating a page. So adding the template label inside your cases.php would give you that file showing in that dropdown.

If you have not already, this is a good overview of templates http://codex.wordpress.org/Stepping_Into_Templates and http://codex.wordpress.org/Page_Templates

Generally, I'm not sure you'll be able to do what you are looking for just because a custom post type isn't a post but actually a page (a weird wordpress naming scheme). Blog posts specifically are the only thing in worpdress that gets treated like actual blog posts with the ability to use archives by date and things like that.

If its just the style of the page however, you may find this tutorial by Nick helpful: https://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/64996057

Hi. I love the theme!

I want to use the blog layout but for custom posts in their own directory. I can't get the html in the loop to load.

I have created a child theme and have done the following:

• I've copied the Index.php and labeled it cases.php
» Added a template label to cases.php
» Changed "get_template_part( 'includes/loop', 'index' );" to "get_template_part( 'includes/loop', cases' );"
• Copied single.php and created a single-case.php
• Copied loop-index and created a loop-cases.php
» Added post query for cases to loop-cases.php

What am I missing something? If this it too much trouble, how much would I need to pay for an answer?

Thank you some much for your time!
At the moment not possible without manually tweaking the theme files. You can request the feature here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-feature-requests though.

I'm using a plugin that provides me with a few critical custom post types.
But when I edit those posts - I do not have access to things like Header On/Off, Sidebar selector, and other important Avia/Enfold settings.

Is this a matter of adding something to the CPT support array, in the plugin files?
Or is this something that has to be done within the Enfold theme itself?

Thank you for any direction you can offer on this.

Unfortunately the theme framework does not support custom post types at the moment and Kriesi just added an option for portfolio posts (hardcoded post type + taxonomy) and "standard" posts/pages. You'd need to change some files in the framework folder and register-admin-dynamic-options.php to modify the template builder options. Depending on your php skills you maybe need to hire a freelancer/php coder for this task. You can also try the ether content plugin: http://codecanyon.net/item/ether-content-builder-wordpress-plugin/1690784 but I'm not sure if it supports custom post types.

Hi there,
I'm loving the Choices theme, and am interested in finding a way to pull in a custom post type and its custom fields into three columns for my frontpage template. So instead of having a column pull all posts by category, I'd like it to pull all Features (custom post type) by custom taxonomy (Concerts, say).

I'd prefer to do this using the template builder and CPTs instead of posts, and modifying whatever I have to to get it to work,but am open to other suggestions, as well.

Any ideas?

Is there a way to access RSS feeds for the portfolio and/or portfolio categories? All I can see is how to do that with blogs and with the comments on portfolio posts, but not the portfolio posts themselves.

I saw a solution for how to add portfolio posts into your main RSS feed, but I'm interested in having separate feeds for subscribers. Any ideas? :)

Thank you Peter, this could be the problem. I am using version 1.1.
Can I download a newer version in my themeforest account?

Hey!

As far as I know this error occured in an old version of Brightbox - newer versions (eg the latest 1.2.2) should not cause any troubles with custom post types. Which version are you using?

Regards,
Peter

A litte update:
I managed to adapt the existing Brightbox portfolio post type to fit my needs (I dont need categories but added custom fields). This is working fine.
But I cannot change the name from "portfolio" to any other name. Then I get the "-1" error.

Plus: I really need another post type - this always results in the error "-1".
What do I have to change to get a second post type working properly?

This is my adapted and working code:

add_action('init', 'tf_register');

function tf_register()
{
	$labels = array(
 'name' => _x('Themen + Frequenzen', 'post type general name'),
 'singular_name' => _x('Ausgabe', 'post type singular name'),
 'add_new' => _x('Neue Ausgabe', 'portfolio'),
 'add_new_item' => __('Neue Ausgabe erstellen'),
 'edit_item' => __('Ausgabe bearbeiten'),
 'new_item' => __('Neue Ausgabe erstellen'),
 'view_item' => __('Ausgabe ansehen'),
 'search_items' => __('Ausgaben durchsuchen'),
 'not_found' => __('Keine Einträge gefunden'),
 'not_found_in_trash' => __('Keine Einträge im Papierkorb vorhanden'),
 'parent_item_colon' => ''
	);

	$args = array(
 'labels' => $labels,
 'public' => true,
 'show_ui' => true,

 'query_var' => true,

Hi,
I created my own custom post type using Custom Post Type UI.
But whenever I save (publish or save already published post types) one of them the page goes blank showing only "-1" (source code is empty too). I was able to create new entries a drafts.
All changes I make during editing one entry are saved (reloading the front view of the current entry).
Then I deleted this post type and created my own one basically using this tutorial http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/wordpress/rock-solid-wordpress-3-0-themes-using-custom-post-types/. The error keeps the same.

Regular posts and pages are not affected.
I checked my code and the functions.php, but besides adding my own custom post type I did not change anything.

What can be the problem? I really hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Nadja

Edit: Needless to say that I already checked deactivating Brightbox - the error was gone.
Another thing I noticed: the URL after saving does not contain the post ID and the message, like "post.php?post=123&action=edit&message=1", it ends with "post.php".

Hey,

So far I love the theme! Very nice and clean, both front and backend.

We currently use all-in-one events calendar to handle our events. I set up a template for the homepage, and then selected the insert post/page content in the template builder. However, the short codes no longer work for the plugin when I do this. Other wise on pages not using the template builder short codes work as expected.

I was wondering how difficult it would be to build into the template builder the functionality to display all-in-one events similarly to how you can select to display your blog? I'm not so concerned about using the formatting that is supplied with plugin, I'd prefer it to be displayed simply like a blog post. I'd like to do this for future users of the site, so if someday I'm not around they can still build pages including that functionality.

I've worked with custom post types before and feel comfortable getting my hands dirty with a some coding.

Cheers,
Julia
