Hi,

Devin's good, you can click on his name and see 200+ pages of customizations he provided for Avia framework alone. I would say he is one of the top 3 experts on the framework. That Codeable.io looks interesting, a no nonsense approach.

I just compared the "Weekly Top Sellers" and all of them display the sidebar at the bottom (eg the most popular theme "Avada" too: http://theme-fusion.com/avada/sidebar-left/ or the popular Karma http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma/pages/left-sidebar-no-nav ) - simply because it's not intuitive at all to display the sidebar first (eg if the user clicks on "About us" he excepts to read an article about the company and not some random "newsletter" or "latest news" widgets at the top).

That said it's not easily possible to display the sidebars at the top and it would require some time intensive modifications of the template structure and to the css code.

Thank you for your response.

This is true for none of the themes or regular html responsive template available on theme forest. but nonetheless I can understand your company's decision to make their templates like this. I was just trying to get more info from you on how can i go about editing the template-blog.php file in order to define the sidebar position on top of posts, like all other responsive themes & html templates i have worked with.

Hi,

I'm sorry but I don't know if there are themes who renders the sidebar first before the content. You need to hire a freelance developer to fix the layout for you. If you look on template-blog.php, the content part is always at the top.

get_template_part( 'includes/loop', 'index' );

And the sidebar, at the bottom.

get_sidebar();

This is true for almost all of the themes available.

Devin, actually you don't need to see my website, to understand my problem. problem is: left side widgets, when viewed in one column view on mobile (responsive) are supposed to appear before the content in the middle or right, that is the logical order. only in your theme, the left sidebar widgets appear last (bottom) on page, and not top of page, as in other responsive designs.

I need a possible solution for this, in order to continue with my project involving your theme

Hi Ismael

so far, only problem is left sidebar widgets when viewed in responsive mode, should retain their order and come out on top of other columns instead below other columns.
Every other responsive layout so far works like this and it is only i found out about this issue after buying the theme. Please advise if it can be fixed through css, because if it can not be fixed I 'm afraid i will have to continue my project using (unfortunately) some other theme :(
Thanks in advance for your understanding

Hi everyone,

I'm building a site using Incarnation and am looking for some customization examples. This is a great theme, but looking to make some customization from the standard look, visual changes, header, colors, fonts, graphics, etc. Not looking to copy someone else's, just some ideas of what others have done.

If you could comment with your website address that would be great!

Thanks..

Craig

P.S. this is my second site using a Kriesi Theme. GREAT themes and support!

Thanks!
One more question - is it possible to configure slider in Coherence so that there are either no thumbnails (maybe dots instead?) or that the thumbnails take up a lot less space? As it stands in the theme preview, they eat more than 100 px height in the most valuable part of the page.

Thanks,

Hi tonidrabik,

Both Choices and Coherence come with the Template builder that allows you to add elements to a template and then apply that template to a page. It is quite a bit different than Twicet in terms of basic easy custom structures and layouts.

You can do a two column element with both themes and put almost whatever content you want into each column. Then repeat down the page or keep adding in other elements as needed. You could also use the themes shortcode and do the columns in the visual editor alone.

Coherence does have buttons as part of the slideshow options. See the second image here: http://www.kriesi.at/themedemo/?theme=coherence

This is a small preview of the template builder in both Choices and Coherence though not all the elements in Choices are in Coherence: http://www.kriesi.at/themes/choices/template-files/features/

I would like to buy Coherence (or possibly Choices) in order to replace my aging Twicet theme. Before I do this, I would like to know to what extent is the home page customizeable?

I would like to keep the slider, but below the slider I would like to have a table-type layout with two columns (picture in a first column, a bunch of text in second column - maybe something like this: http://www.woothemes.com/), several rows long. Is it possible to do something like that in Coherence or Choices without a lot of digging though the code?

Also, is it possible to integrate buttons in slider in Coherence, the same way it is done in Choices?

Thanks!

Hi Demi,

You can put any length of text you want into the Excerpt field when editing or creating a portfolio item.

As far as I know, the featured media displays images and video in the same way with the order going from top to bottom. Is it behaving differently for you?

The only way to customize the Archive pages would be to modify the taxonomy-portfolio_entries.php page in your theme files. It controls the output and calls some various functions to get everything displayed. It has some commenting to allow for some basic changes but if you aren't comfortable with basic html/php it will be a little hard to edit.

Hi everybody,

I have several questions about portfolio options. Is there any way to set the amount of text that shows up when the title and excerpt option is turned on for a portfolio page? I would like a few lines of text, but not a huge chunk, which is what shows up now (and it doesn't make any sense because it doesn't recognize new paragraphs). The page I'm having this issue with can be found here: http://www.demianter.com/past-works/

Also on the portfolio page, and portfolio item pages, I am having an issue with slideshows that contain videos and photos. For example, on this page (http://www.demianter.com/art/demiland/), I have a video file set to display first (the screen that says "DEMILAND"). Instead of displaying the video first, the last photo in the slideshow set pops up first. This happens both on the overall portfolio page (Past Works, above), and on the individual item page. Is there any way to fix or get around this?

My other question is about portfolio categories, for ex. "Spoken Word" (http://www.demianter.com/portfolio_entries/spoken-word/). Is there any way to customize category pages? Just a couple things I would like to be able to do: remove "Archive for:" in title/customize title, insert a slide show at the top with the portfolio following it, customize number of columns in the portfolio, customize the sidebar... These are all things I could do with the template builder, but I don't know if there is a way to choose a dynamic template for a categories page. I know I could just create my own page for each category that used these elements, but that is not helpful if a person clicks on the category from a portfolio item page and ends up on the default, not customized categories page.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks,

Demi

Hi Boris,

The padding I believe is the main change so if you want to adjust the size of the containers that would be the number to try. Though the sub menu items have an additional width property that you can play with. In your style.css look for:

#top .catnav li ul a{
width:150px;
height:auto;
float:left;
text-align:left;
padding:0 10px;
}

Regards,

Hi Devin,

thanks! Thats better. Since I dont understand to much of the code, which values should I play with to get it fit just perfect?

Have another look, there are still some glitches...

Best Boris

Hi Boris,

In:

.catnav li:last-child,
.catnav li:last-child a {
 border: 0 !important;
}

Remove the " !important " so that the sub-nav child list items still get the border. Just make sure to leave the rest of it.

Next you'll need to add the following CSS as well:

#top .catnav li ul ul {
left: 160px;
top:-1px;
}
.sub-menu li a {
padding: 5px !important;
}

That should get the sub menus adjusted a bit better.

Regards,

Unfortunately I don't think there is an easy way to get the sub menus to conform to the same width as the parent since they don't have a defined value.

Great! It works.

Thanks a lot.

Do you have a solution for issue #3? Wit the current changes, the submenues look even worth now: to much height.

And by the way, talking of updating the theme, I would like to recommend to do so!
I set up a blog with the sentence theme and compared to that newscast seem a bit outdated! There are a lot of nice features in Sentence that I am already missing in newscast...

Pleaz!!!! ;-)

Best Boris

And thanks again! I love your support!

Hi alconsulting,

My mistake! I should have said add them both to the very bottom of your style.css! Yes, deleting the other block would cause issues. Alternatively, you could add to the current set of attributes but adding at the end of the file will make it easier to back up in case of updating the theme.

Regards,

Hi Devin,

#2 worked just finde.

#1 screws up everything. (The menu is complete deleted and the menutext is right next to each other - look awful) ;-)

So replacing the whole bloc
from .catnav li a{

to

}

cannot be right.

Can you instruct me more precisely, please?

Which part do I need to replace?

Hope you don't need a screenshot. ;-)

Hi Boris,

You can either replace it in the case of #1, and with #2 add it to the very bottom of your Style.css.

Regards,
