Unfortunately Kriesi stores the theme options, dynamic templates & portfolio data in the database and there's no way to restore the data without a backup file of the sql database. Basically the best solution is to use your backup file - even if it's 2 weeks old. I asked Kriesi to add a confirmation window to the "Import Dummy" button and he'll probably include it in the next framework/theme update.

For now I'd complete delete the old database (it's useless anyway) and create a new one. Then import your backup file into the new database.

Hi Bob,

The SQL file Peter mentioned is what you download from your MySQL database. You can download the file either through your web host account (look for MySQL Database or phpMyAdmin) or you can use a Backup Database plugin directly in WordPress. I actually recommend the latter - it's simpler to understand and quicker.

Unfortunately, like Peter mentioned in order to re-import your previous settings you would have had to make a backup beforehand which I imagine isn't the case. So at this stage, I believe your only option is to delete the "dummy data" under Pages and Posts and redo your customizations.

You can read more about backing up your database here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database

Here's one of the more popular backup plugins:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/backwpup/

As far as a basic tutorial of Propulsion, that can be found in the documentation folder of the zip you downloaded from ThemeForest.

I mistakenly hit the infamous "Insert Dummy Data" button in Propulsion trying to tweak a minor issue... I lost all my formatting and have been rebuilding my blog site eversince. I cannot get my blogs to show up on the frontpage like they used to do, in chronological order.

I have tried everything I know to do... all my posts are in archive now, and they only appear via catagorie on my current "temporary" front page.... see http://www.bobparr.org to see what I mean....

Is there a simple fix to this? I am not CSS or HTML savy but I can cut n paste if someone will direct me to the backend location.. thanks.... Bob

Hey there.. Thanks Peter.... where would I find the (sql file) you are speaking of... is it an auto save item in propulsion or something I would have had to do deliberately??? I wonder if it would be wise to put a warning option on the "Dummy Data" button ( i.e. Are you sure you want to wipe out your entries and insert Dummy Data?") this would have alarmed me.... anyways... If I open one of the links in archives to my previous blog posts... they are exactly as they were before my mishap... how can I re-import them?? Is there a basic tutorial for Propulsion? You folks speak a completely different language than us novices..... thanks for any help you can offer... Bob

Hey!

The dummy data button will import the sample content data into the database. If you've a db backup file (eg sql file) you can simply reimport the database file to overwrite the demo data.

Hi All,

I suspect that what you are seeing is just the different font. The choice demo uses: http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Open+Sans

While the Angular demo uses: http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Questrial

Fonts can always be changed so don't let that stop you from purchasing ;)

And more to this - if I change the Choice homepage to version with portfolio (demo), the portfolio part also looks ugly. Angular again looks perfectly fine.

I've noticed that the large writing in Choices looks pixelated and raggy , i.e. antialiasing . Is there anyway to correct this? A different font perhaps? Also, this is my first word press site and I am struggling. I do apologise, I cannot find where i can edit the imported dummy data, the writing on the slider which says .."FLYING CAPTIONS Let them fly! Captions can fade in, slide in from left to right or slide in from top to bottom. Fancy, eh?" ... I've looked everywhere to find where I change this text, but cannot find it; can someone point me in the right direction. Or is it an image file and the words are contained in a file and are not editable via the theme?
thank you

Hi there,

I'm working with a client who bought your theme and needed some help getting her site together. Last Wednesday, we spent the day going through and inserting custom css code, various graphical and structural aspects of her site, etc.

Over the weekend, she pressed the "Import Dummy Data" button and all those customizations were lost.

Thankfully, we'd done a full backup with BackupBuddy, but I just can't believe that the first option in the Propulsion Theme backend can result in such a potentially catastrophic loss of data. I definitely won't be using your themes with future clients because of this.

Moving forward, how can I disable that function (and any others) so that my client doesn't accidentally erase her site's customizations?

Hi shailendra89,

Open up includes>admin>register-admin-options.php and look for this array:

$avia_elements[] =	array(
 "slug"	=> "avia",
 "name" => "Import Dummy Content: Posts, Pages, Categories and Portfolio Entries",
 "desc" => "If you are new to wordpress or have problems creating posts or pages that look like the theme preview you can import dummy posts and pages here that will definitley help to understand how those tasks are done.",
 "id" => "import",
 "type" => "import");

Replace it with:

//$avia_elements[] =	array(
// "slug"	=> "avia",
// "name" => "Import Dummy Content: Posts, Pages, Categories and Portfolio Entries",
// "desc" => "If you are new to wordpress or have problems creating posts or pages that look like the theme preview you can import dummy posts and pages here that will definitley help to understand how those tasks are done.",
// "id" => "import",
// "type" => "import");

That will remove it from view but not completely delete from the code in case you want to bring it back. If you do, just delete the // before each line.

Regards,

Devin

I wonder if someone could shed some light on this problem please. I am new to the theme so apologies if its a beginners question, have searched but cannot find the answer.
When i install the theme and activate the 'import dummy data' everything looks great - i then go and make any simple edit - e.g change the logo to the site logo, and then the front page changes to show the blog layout and loses the thumbnail images for portfolio etc... I have to click 'import dummy data' again to get the look right? Anyone know how to get the frontpage back to show the thumbnails of the most recent portfolio additions again?
I thought the setting to amend would be the Angular > Theme Options > Front Page Settings yet this doesn't seem to rectify the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
