Hi Berza,

No, not as far as I know. They used to use the same data but Kriesi found that it created unreliable translations and the best way to solve it was to create duplicates for each language that can be customized as needed.

Its an extra step of work but one that is the best solution and removes the larger issues that would be created otherwise.

Regards,

Hello,

Is there a way to have the WPML plugin sync the "Featured Media" for portfolio items among different translations?
At the moment, I have to set all the featured images (for the portfolio slideshow) twice: once for the "original" article, and another time for the translated article, that should be a perfect copy of the first one except for body text (I already have all the original and translated titles and body texts, just need to set up the featured media).

Similarly, I'd also like to be able to sync the "portfolio meta information" (e.g. skills needed, client and project url in the sample site) among translations, or maybe just copy the values in the original post to the translation, so that I can have a "placeholder text" to translate manually..

I tried with the WPML Media Translation plugin, but I suspect it does something different.. or anyway it could be able to sync WordPress' default featured images that are replaced by Flagship's "featured media"..

Yes, you can hide it with:

.page-id-645 .slideshow_container{
display: none !important;
}

.postid-282 .slideshow_container{
display: none !important;
}

on single post pages.

Insert the code into the quick css field and replace the post/page id.

Hi

I need to create a homepage template with teaser blocks that link through to featured pages.

I want to use the column layout to show three blocks, then display Single Page and show Preview Image and Post Title as the content.

The problem I have is that I don't want to necessarily show a slideshow on the linked page, but I need to add featured media in order to have an image show on my homepage template!

Bit of a conundrum, but I'm probably just not seeing the right way to do it?

Is it possible to add featured media but not show the slideshow?

Thanks very much in advance!

Hi!

I will close this one up for now. the update that brings ajax portfolios to the theme will also bring a better compatibility feature for existing portfolios :)

Yes, you need to reconfigure the theme options (all Settings on the "Theme Options" page) and you need to rebuild all "dynamic templates" with the new page/layout editor because the dynamic templates are not compatible with the new layout editor and vice versa. It's also not possible to write a converter or something similar because they're too different.

Hi Kriesi,

I have also just upgraded from Choices to Enfold and I'm a little surprised so much has not come across in the transition. I'm wondering if I have done something wrong.

e.g. Frontpage settings lost, logo, pricing tables, etc.

Looking forward to an easier transition.

Hey! I think I found a way to solve this issue. Since solving this requires me to implement the "ajax functionality" of choices as well it might last a little but I have already some ideas on how to make the transition as easy as possible :)

Hey Carl!

Unfortunately Enfold works with a completely different system so out of the box the old feature media is not compatible with enfold. I will think about a way to port those settings from previous installations to Enfold. Not sure yet if this can be done in a manner that makes sense. I will keep you posted if can come up with something smart...

I am moving from Choices theme to the Enfold theme. It appears that the "Featured media" images and video from the Choices theme are lost when switching to the Enfold theme. Am I missing something here? An easy way to get them to appear? Do I need to relink hundreds of portfolio item video and images to make the transition to Enfold?

Hi,

Simply turn the slider off (setting) this way it will not slide. Create a dynamic template. Make it full width (setting on top), and add element slider to it. Can you make a mockup demo image to show what you want to display so we can help you better.

In future maybe Kriesi can consider a update for all the people who are using other gallery mangers, by having option for featured images not run as slideshow on the pages since at moment its

Image slideshow options

Small
Medium
Fullsize

Solution - adding none as a option

So since this is gonna take some to implement is there any work round for me have featured images / thumbnails without these displaying in relevant post before the header as a slideshow

Hey!

Actually Shoutbox should set the first "Featured media"/slideshow image as featured image. Kriesi deactivated the "set featured image" option because the first slide will be used as featured image automatically.

Regards,

Hey Guys

I found this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/drag-drop-featured-image/screenshots/ do you think i could use this as a work around for the built in Featured media? If so i could use the Premium Gallery Manager in posts pages while Drag & Drop Featured Image takes care of the Featured Image

Hi,

Yes, that's a good strategy. You can have multiple 'support pages' for each page whose sole function is to be cannibalized by the main page. This way you can have multiple slideshows, area of content within a single page.

Another useful trick is that you have the ability to have your portfolio items automatically redirect to woocommerce products, blog posts, pages, or outside url's instead of going to the portfolio-item page. So the end user will just see the thumbnails with the automatic sorting and after clicking one they taken anywhere you want them to go.

Benefit here is that you can create sortable mini-shops or mini-displays of products with portfolio sort functionality. To have that , when you add portfolio items, only add the image, and in the image options you will see 5 options of where you want the portfolio thumbnail to redirect the end user to.

Thanks,

Hey, actually I don't need to try this anymore. It just hit me on how to accomplish what I need through dynamic templates.

Initially I wanted to run a special page that I could featured it's slideshow and it's comments beneath it. But say for instance, I wanted to pull that particular slideshow and it's comments and display that set up on the home page amongst other home page elements.

But it just hit me thinking more about it. I can create a dynamic template with the "slideshow element" from that particular page, and then create the "post/page content element" feeding content from that same page beneath that slideshow. This will accomplish what I need.

Appreciate your help...
