Hi studiosalad,

No, the template builder is the only way to automatically add those features into a page.

You could use woo commerce shortcodes to get a basic product feed but it won't have any of the the theme effects applied to it. The same goes for a gallery in that you could use shortcodes and add in images but it wont have the same effects or be dynamic like a portfolio element would.

Regards,

Is there a workaround (not using the template builder) to add featured products and "recently added" galleries to my pages ala the replete demo page?

Thanks

Hi eseyo,

The shortcodes and template builder will not be able to create the exact same layout. The template builder includes functions and can work together and calling in other scripts where the shortcode has to have limitations to work within the visual editor.

Also, all product shortcode is created by WooCommerce. The product slider/display is theme built and definitely has no ability to be duplicated by WooCommerce shortecode.

You might want to look into using a different social plugin instead of trying to refrain from using the Template builder as it really is the best thing for creating layouts with the theme.

Regards,

I want to create the homepage for my website using standard shortcodes rather than use the template builder.

I need to do this because when I use the template and the jetpack plugin i get the sharing icons added to every section within my template (see http://ls.websiteinprogress.co.uk/homepage-temp/)

Therefore I am trying to recreate the same page as above but not using the template builder. When I try to include featured products I can only get it to show a 4 column layout and not as in the template. The template builder allows me to select 5 columns, no excerpt, paging = yes, sort = default, slider auto-rotate = 5. When I try to add any of these options using the standard shortcodes they do not work. I can only get 4 columns to render.

Do you think you could help me by providing either the shortcode that I should use to achieve the same effect as the template, or direct me to more detailed instructions on the featured products shortcode and how I can use the same options as the template builder provides.

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi tomboersma,

Unfortunately, that option isn't available. The only thing we can do about that is to create a new category and name it Featured then use that category to be used in the template builder.

Regards,

Hi carloshf,

Actually, it's this line of the default CSS that's causing the issue:

.entry-content h3, .entry-content h4, .entry-content h5, .entry-content h6 {
    letter-spacing: 1.5px;
}

What's happening is it adds spacing the between the letters which causes it to look like different fonts. So you can change that by adding this to your custom.css or Quick CSS.

.entry-content h3, .entry-content h4, .entry-content h5, .entry-content h6 {
    letter-spacing: normal;
}

Regards,
Mya

Yes, it works!!!!, but why the font-type is different than the first one, h3 is the guilty?, i would like the font-type were the same always, you know, the look and feel of the site.

Hi carloshf,

Sounds like you'll need to set the text-transform style of the product name to capitalize not uppercase. In order to give you the exact code we'd have a see the page for ourselves. Can you a post a link to your website?
