Hi,
Kriesi didn't report back yet and tbh I doubt that he'll add this feature to avia feedback because you're the first one who requests it. If you're in a hurry I can help you (on a freelancer basis) to implement this feature - just send me a mail by using the contact form here: http://inoplugs.com/contact/ and I'll make you a quote.

Hey

it's me again :). Sorry for the inconvenience but I've just one more question:

At this time we can only give a predefined number of votes for every visitor of the site. And the visitor is able to vote on every entry. this is great. But we would like to make a restriction so that every user is only allowed to give not more than one vote to each entry. Is this possible?

For example: Since we have 10 entries each user gets 10 votes. One vote for each entry. But we do not want that the user can give all of his votes to the same entry.

Many many thanks in advance!
Best regards

A temp. fix for the ajax loading icon - add following code to a stylesheet (eg style.css) to hide it:

    display: none !important;

Thanks Dude,

I recently deactiavted some other plugins and now that Sociable error no longer occurs but the spinning AJAX thingie remains.

1) The socialable plugin causes a js error ( http://outlawvern.com/wp-content/plugins/sociable/js/async_call.js?ver=3.4.1 ) - this error probably affects other js scripts on your website too and causes the loading icon issue.

2) You can try to deactivate the comments for "closed" suggestions. The user can't post a comment afterwards.

3) Maybe socialable offers an option to exclude certain post types? If not you probably need to hack the plugin core files to exclude the feedback post type.

4,5,6) I'll ask Kriesi to look into it. I can't promise that he'll add these features to the avia feedback box though.

Howdy!

I posted this over at CodeCanyon but after seeing few replies to earlier questions I checked your profile and saw you did support here.

I bought your plugin for a site I help manage, http://outlawvern.com

The author of the site does movie reviews and this seemed the perfect solution for users who wanted to suggest movie for him to tackle.

This plugin does almost exactly what I need, so I can save myself the trouble of rolling my own lol

A couple of issues:

I get a constant spinning AJAX image underneath the info button (see it at http://outlawvern.com/review-suggestions/)

Any way to set an option to exclude completed items when the user first enters the page? Not much sense having them vote for things that have already been done

This may not be your issue, but the Sociable plugin tries to stick itself after each entry because you are using a custom post type rather than your own database structure. I have to manually clear at the Feedback edit page which will be frustrating.

Any chance we could get Gravatars for the user who made the original suggestion rather than just for the commentors?

It would be nice to block votes for items already marked finished. I'm guessing if I lock the item that would prevent votes but haven't risked testing it as I still want the suggestion to appear so people no it was completed and the link to the finished review.

It would be nice to have an option to expand all comments on load. The comment indicator really gets lost and I'd prefer all the SQL regarding entries to happen at once rather than a later AJAX call should someone expand comments.

Thanks for the great plugin!

Chris

Hey,
it seems like the plugin files/resources can't be found. I.e. http://enoda.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/avia_feedback_box/avia_feedback_box.css gives me a 404 error. I'd use a ftp software like filezilla to upload the uncompressed plugin files in the wp-content/plugin folder. By going this way you can be sure that everything is uploaded/installed correctly. The correct path is wp-content/plugins/avia_feedback_box/

I've unzipped the archive from theme forest, opened the right folder, compressed the items, uploaded it to my site and configured it correctly. However, the plugin isn't displaying correctly at all.

Adding
<?php wp_head(); ?>
and removing the previous js/css references worked perfectly. I am still seeing a conflict between the one js and the fade in/fade out script. I am hoping to get off of work early enough today to really dig into the js file and see where conflicts may exist.

Thanks again for the prompt and helpful responses.

Please insert the wp_head hook before the head closing tag. Otherwise the plugin can't load the required resources. All modern themes should provide at least the wp_head and wp_footer hook.

Please insert:

<?php wp_head(); ?>

before the head closing tag

</head>

and delete all js/stylesheet references you created in header.php (to the plugins stylesheet + js files).

Hey,

Without a copy of the theme it's difficult to fully diagnose the problem and provide a quick solution.

Important question, raised because the plugin scripts don't appear to be called automatically is do you see the code:

wp_head();

somewhere in header.php before the close of:

</head>

?

Ok, so I removed all .js src lines from the header and then pasted them one by one, testing the site after each addition. The culprit appears to be the js src and the action script to run the WIP.slider.js:

script type="text/javascript" src="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/js/WIP.slider.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">
	jQuery(document).ready(function(){
		<?php if(is_home()) { echo "jQuery('#featured').WIPslider();"; } else { echo "jQuery('#page-featured').WIPslider();"; } ?>
	});
</script>

I can't seem to find any reference to the "addlink" class as you described. Here is the js text. Is there something that seems to conflict? I admit I know little to nothing about javascripting and defer to you for advise.

(function($) {

	var opt 		= new Array;
	var played		= new Array;
	var currentpos	= new Array;
	var autoInterval = new Array;

	$.fn.WIPslider= $.fn.WIPslider = function(options){

		init = function(tg){
			opt[tg.id] = $.extend({}, $.fn.WIPslider.defaults, options);

			$('#'+tg.id+'').css('background-image', 'none');//remove the preloader image

			$.each($('#'+tg.id+' img'), function(i,item){ //grab the data for each image.
				played[tg.id][i]	= $(item);
			});

			played[tg.id][0].addClass('onPlay');

			if( $('#'+tg.id+' img').length > 1 ) //only do the animation if length more than 1.
				$.transition(tg);

		};

		// transitions
		$.transition = function(tg){

			autoInterval[tg.id] = setInterval(function() { $.tp(tg) }, opt[tg.id].delay);
		};

		$.tp = function(tg){

				currentpos[tg.id]++;
				if(currentpos[tg.id] == played[tg.id].length ) {
					currentpos[tg.id] = 0;
				}

				if(currentpos[tg.id] == -1){
					currentpos[tg.id] = played[tg.id].length-1;
				}

				$('.onPlay').fadeOut(opt[tg.id].animateSpeed).removeClass('onPlay');
				played[tg.id][currentpos[tg.id]].fadeIn(opt[tg.id].animateSpeed,
					function(){
						played[tg.id][currentpos[tg.id]].addClass('onPlay');
					}
				);

		};

		this.each (
			function(){ init(this); }
		);

	};

	// default values
	$.fn.WIPslider.defaults = {
		delay : 6000, // delay between div/object
		animateSpeed : 1000 //speed on amimation per div/object
	};

})(jQuery);

I am stuck at work all day today. I will try to do some more investigation later today but in the meantime I need to put the "Coming Soon" page pack up to prevent any unwanted site traffic.

It seems like we have a real js conflict now (because jquery is working correctly). Something causes the fade out effect to start automatically everytime. I'm not sure which js conflicts though. The fade out effect code looks like:

if(voteCounts == 0 && !$(link).is('.avia_inactive'))
					{
						votelinks.addClass('avia_inactive');
						addlink.fadeOut();
					}

- this if statement must be "true" or the addlink class is used somewhere else otherwise the feedback box would work correctly....
