Hi

About 7 months ago I posted an issue about how when people accessed my site (www.thevlog.me), through IE, Firefox or Opera, the Logo would stretch across the screen, encroaching into the sidebar area.
Dude kindly gave me some code to post in the Quick CSS:
.entry-content a{
max-width: 100%;

.logo img {
width: 100%;
}

Which worked perfectly. However recently, after a few notifications, the same problem has reoccurred. I have checked the Quick CSS and the code is still there, but this time is not working.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hi jmwilliams83,

Try to add this in Quick CSS(located in Incarnation > Theme Options > Styling) or custom.css:

h1.logo img {
max-width: 990px;
}

Hope this help fixing the header logo extending outside its scope.

Hey Boe,

I do understand the issue I'm just not sure how we could effect it. I found a javascript solution from stackoverflow here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4130649/detect-browser-zoom-level-using-javascript

But I have no experience with it so It would be up to you to actually integrate it in a way that leads to the solution you are looking for.

I'm just not sure under what circumstance a user would zoom out. Its a fairly antiquated feature these days with responsive design and resolutions so it isn't something I've ever seen come up (which is why I said the theme doesn't have any built in support for the browser function).

Regards,

Dear Devin,

Thanks for that note. Forgive me, I don't know what all that has to do with my question. But again, thanks for the comment.

My issue is with widgets inexplicably moving out the sidebar and to a completely different area on the bottom of the page... How is this happening? Did you see the screenshots I included above? Are you understanding what is happening? Were you able to recreate the problem in Chrome and Firefox on your end? Anyone else? Can you ask someone else to look at it? Do you have any suggestions as to how we can keep these widgets in the sidebar where they belong, even when the end users in Chrome or Firefox zoom out... ?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Hi Boe,

Control+minus is not reducing the size of the browser, that is your zoom for text/general zoom for the content. The theme has no support for altering the size of text with the hotkeys for zoom.

Regards,

Dear Devin,

Thanks for the response. In order to recreate this - and I suspect you will be able to do so in Chrome and in Firefox - please view one of our "sidebar-right" pages (link below ) and then do ctrl-minus to reduce the size of your browser window...

http://toronto.dreamhosters.com/partner/ (for example)

Screen shot at 100 percent (http://toronto.dreamhosters.com/images/widgets_at_100.png)
Screen Shot at 90 percent (http://toronto.dreamhosters.com/images/widgets_at_90.png)

Thanks very much for checking it again on your side. I have confirmed the issue on multiple Windows 7 PCs in both Chrome and Firefox.

BTW: We had built a site previously in Corona last fall: http://www.nycchurchplanting.net/planter/... same exact thing happens...

Hey lagalga,

I'm not sure what else to try. The code doesn't appear to work on my end in Firefox so it may just be the script being loaded in incorrectly for FF. It isn't actually loading in any data.

You might want to try going to facebook and getting the code straight from there and then just pasting that into a text widget.

See: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/

Thank you for your interest, but it is not what i want. I need a widget to be shown on all browsers.

That widget shows a facebook page status ("likers", a facebook page like button…) it's like:

but i want it without faces and without wall… only the avatar and the button. The widget is fine (i've tested on many browsers but firefox and on other wordpress templates), but i'd like the info to be shown on firefox too

Hi Boe,

I tested the site on my end but am not getting anything like that with the sidebars. There isn't any responsive code for Corona so there isn't anything theme side that would or should be causing anything like that.

Hi,

I can reproduce the issue. Win 7, FF it is not shown, while in Chrome it is shown.

The facebook iframe code looks incorrect to me unless you are trying to like a page on facebook from your website. since in the code below , the url in the query string should be the url of the page where the like button is located, and not a facebook url.

<iframe src="//www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpages%2FWotake%2F206525936095381%3Ffref%3Dts&width=420&height=100&colorscheme=dark&show_faces=false&border_color=%23666666&stream=false&header=false&force_wall=false&locale=es_LA" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:420px; height:100px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

this is the way it should look ... I used one of my personal app id's

<iframe src="//www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwotake.es&send=false&layout=standard&width=450&show_faces=false&font=tahoma&colorscheme=light&action=like&height=35&appId=404057446298884" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:35px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

I would use the code on this page which will dynamically set the url of each of your pages http://elure.co/43_facebook-like-button-dynamic-url-javascript.htm

Thanks,

Nick

I tried to reproduce the problem but it works just fine on my PC with Win8 + the latest version of Firefox. Maybe a browser extension causes the issue? I'll mark this thread for the other support staff members - maybe they can reproduce the problem.

Hi, it's me again… I've set a facebook likebox at the footer and all went well, until i tested it on Firefox: it's invisible!

By the way, the jetpack's twitter & facebook widgets show errors like showing `"<br />
<SPAN CLASS='WIDGET_FIRST'>FACEBOOK</SPAN> JETPACK"` on the title…
the page is http://www.wotake.es

Great, this one worked, thanks for the support!
Will you add this to the next update, so I don't have to modify the file with each update?
Best,
Tom

Okay, this should be the final change. You'll need to edit one of the theme files via FTP however. Open js>avia.js in the theme files and then search for this line:

if(!a.css('position') || a.css('position') == 'static') { a.css({position:'relative', display:'inline-block'}); }

It should be line 1137ish. Change it to:

if(!a.css('position') || a.css('position') == 'static') { a.css({position:'relative', display:'block'}); }

The issue is how IE and FF render max width inside an inline block (the link). You can remove the other css we've given as this should allow the proper max width to take effect.

Regards,

And I just noticed in IE8, images linked to themselves don't appear at all. It appears for a split second, than it disappears.

Hey!

Try following code instead:

.firefox img, .firefox a img{
 max-width: 98% !important;
}
.msie9 img, .msie9 a img{
 max-width: 98% !important;
}

Ohoh, a new bug has emerged, if you insert a smaller image than the div width, it gets enlarged in IE and FF. I guess the result of the 98% width property setting: http://dev.theguitarlesson.com/2013/02/18/test/
