Hi Niels,

The main slideshow images are set to 930x340px (or whatever the height of the image is when scaled to the 930px width) so if its a different size than that it could be getting compressed or stretched slightly.

So setting your image size to exactyl 930x340 or modifying the featured image size to a different height if need be would be the best route using something like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

Hi,

The header image on our front page is displaying quite soft. It is an uncompressed PNG. We have tried to set the width to that of the template but don't know this figure, so there may well be some rescaling happening.
What's the best practice for getting header images to display as sharply as poss?

Many thanks again,
Niels

Hi,

1) That is border thickness. You are not setting it specifically to 0 so thats the way it comes out. In Dreamweaver if you click on insert > table , the default will show border thickness 1, and cell padding and cell spacing as empty. if you change them all to 0, and do that every time you add a table , this problem will not occur.

2) As for the gallery, I don't use NextGen but after a brief look, what is happening is that you are using Nextgen (1st time click thumbnail) then when you click inside NextGen the prettyPhoto (which is still there 'behind' NextGen all along) comes up.. etc..

To handle this I suggest you go to http://forums.no-margin-for-errors.com/ the lightbox prettyPhoto forum. They have a few thousand regular users and its where I go when I am stumped. They are good people and will tell you the correct way to do this with no learning curve.

I am going to close the ticket, since its the biggest one open, but please open a new one if you need a hand.

Thanks,

Thanks for your help Nick. I had a look at that plugin, I'm not really down with the lingo as yet as I am all self taught but picking it up quickly I opted to just get a basic Table Plugin at this stage until I know more about Post Types, Taxonomies and Metaboxes. However when i insert a new table on this page: http://oidutsphotography.com/jl/photos/ it comes up with thin lines around it the same as the table i brought over from Dreamweaver? Do you know how to fix this ??? I currently have the border set to - '0', but doesn't change anything, and then I also updated the table to have white border at border '1' but can't get it to disappear.

Can i just say your help as been amazing thank you!!!!

Also any idea on how I can get the extra pop up window/slideshow box to not appear when you click on the image on this page: http://oidutsphotography.com/jl/photos/canada-new/
I currently have been using the NextGen Image Gallery Plugin to make the slideshow but it comes up with two slideshows when you click on the thumbnail.... rather annoying. If you could help here that would be awesome too!

Thank you again!

.Hi,

That's the problem with DreamWeaver, and I been using it since v2 came out - it's awkward to use it with WordPress, forcing developers or enthusiasts to work outside Wordpress as you have done with the Wall Paper page.

What you are lacking is a plugin to allow you to instantly create a new content type 'Wall Paper' as well as automatically create an archive and single page for wall paper, with its own taxonomy (cities) , and custom meta boxes for the specific fields relevant to wall papers (screen size).

If you develop with WordPress regularly, consider investing $30 to get Easy Custom Content Types premium plugin from Code Canyon.

The best part, is if you are making something for a client, the plugin will generate all the code, then you can disable the plugin, stick the code into the functions.php file, and you look like a genius for building a custom WordPress wallpaper component in under an hour. (I am not affiliated with the content type plugin developer, just use ECCT on every project personally.)

Thanks,

If you want to lose the white band at the bottom of your logo image too, you can add this to Nick's fix:

#top .logo {
margin-left: -20px;
margin-bottom: -15px;
}

If you want to keep a bit of white so it looks more even, use -9px for the bottom margin.

Hi Nick, thanks for yours too! Really i'm missing a stylesheet?

Hi ticktacs,

To create a photo gallery, you can either use WordPress' default gallery option (see instructions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/The_WordPress_Gallery) or you can use a plugin.

Before we can tell you how to remove the white banner on the header image, we would need to see the page or at least a screenshot.

Regards,

Hi JFairbrass,

Make sure that you are using a dynamic template for the frontpage (selected on the right hand side of the page editor in the Layout box). Then, in the Frontpage dynamic template (or if you are using another named template that one) you'll need to add an element at the top of the template called "Margin bellow Main Menu". Select Big Margin from that dropdown and then save the template.

Hello,

Are you using the Display Theme? You can open up a new thread if you do. :)

For the meantime you can use

#wrapper {
background: black url(../images/skin1/bg.png) repeat-x left top;
}

Regards,

Hi!

Please post a valid url. The url you posted above redirects me to a 404 error page which uses another theme too.

Best regards,

Hello Mya,
I am using Newscast. I have found the way to have full-widht for the post, but as you can see on my last post (http://voyagesenmer.com/croisiere-2/en-cargo/laranui-croisiere-en-cargo-dans-les-mers-du-sud/), the image is just a square formatting of the featured image (700x320). How can I have it on full-format like in the slider?

Hello,
How can I have my blog posts look like the full-width page template? I cannot find templates for blog posts. Just in my posts, I would like to get rid of the sidebar and enjoy a full width header image.
Can you help me doing that?
Thanks,
Mapi

Hi,
I haven't tested Adsense with Expose and I can't say "yes" or "no" but I see no reason why adsense would conflict with this theme. There're some great plugins out there (like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/adsense-manager/ , http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/komoona-ads-google-adsense-companion/ , http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/adsense-now-lite/ ) which will help you to integrate adsense adverts with a few clicks.
