Ahh, switching the reading settings to read it as the front page worked! I haven't changed the theme options from saying it's a front page though; it seems to work now though - I assume there's nothing wrong with leaving it like that?

Many thanks - problem solved.

Hi chartinboy,

In the main theme options, make sure you have the front page defined as that 'home' page. Then in your Wordpress Reading settings, make sure that the option is not set to a static main page but to display posts.

If that doesn't work, reverse the settings so that the wordpress reading settings define your front page and blog page and the theme options does not.

Regards,

Hi,
neither of those seem to have worked. My problem isn't that thumbnails don't appear, nor that the images don't appear ever, rather that my main slider doesn't appear at all on the root page, but the same page's direct link (/home/) shows the images just fine.

Please try to regenerate the thumbnails using this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/.

Howdy,

my image slider doesn't appear to work if you go to the root link for my site - jobconnections.co.uk
but the images do appear if you go to the direct link - jobconnections.co.uk/home/

I have a feeling this may have something to do with the fact that I just moved my site from it's own folder to root (leaving all the files in the folder) - however, on every other page the slider works just fine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

What I think Devin was pointing out is that every post, page, category, tag, etc, has a slug. It's usually hidden. If you click Add Category under Post, you will be asked for the name of the category and then for the slug of the cateogry. If you click Add Page, and then you click the Screen Options silver button on right top area of the page which will open a panel with check boxes, one of which is slug, and if you check it, you will find it on your page.

The slugs become a problem when admins decide that they want everything to be on the first level after the domain name. So http://www.you.com/shop / could be a page, post, portfolio item, category, portfolio category, tag.. etc... and it easy to accidentaly have the same name as a post and then forget and use it as a blog tag. So you would have a paradox of both blog tag and post occupying the same URL. .

The only thing you should watch out for is creating posts or pages by the name. If that happens either a black hole opens up or wordpress goes nuts.

Thanks,

Nick

Sounds like you had a conflicting slug name somewhere. The slug name is the url name that displays in the address bar. So if you have a page named yoursite,com/shop-name/ you couldn't also have woocommerce use the shop-name structure. Its not exactly what you had but a simple example.

Hi Devin

I just solved the page problem by going to WP-admin>woocommerce>categories>view category> "web address"
woocommerce uses 'product-category' instead of 'shop', so i link all my subpages to ../product-category/samplecategory instead of ../shop/samplecategory

and page 2 works there...

It's not the best solution cause the address is a different.
But if you have a better solution, please let me know~
Thank You!

Hi David,

The tab bug has so far always come from a plugin conflicting with WooCommerce. Try disabling all active plugins except woocommerce which should solve the issue.

For the pagination, try refreshing your permalinks by going to Settings>Permalinks and re-saving them. If that doesn't work, change them to default and see if it works then. Once again, change them back. If you still are unable to get them to work, it may be that a more in depth issue has popped up in which case you'll need to try the steps here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Fixing_Permalink_Problems

Yes exactly. If you didn't modify any theme files you can just overwrite the "old" files with the updated files and you can use ftp to transfer the files to your server. If you modified some files I'd make a backup of the theme folder first, then overwrite the files and modify the "updated" files again. You can also check the changelog (version.rtf/txt) in the themeforest zip file - often you don't need to replace all files but just certain files/folders.

Hi,

Please install Simple Image Sizes Plugin. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

This will provide you with height/width and whether to crop an image that goes into the various sliders, thumbnails, posts, portfolio items on the website. This can be found on Settings > Media after installing plugin. Please adjust the settings for image size 'Featured'. Right now your images on the page you mention on your site is cropped to 990px width - 360px height.

Please be aware that *the size of the image you are uploading should be bigger then the dimensions you set above. If they are smaller, the image will become blurry.

Changing this size *does not* change the size of images that you *already uploaded*, but only changes the sizes for future images you upload. To change the images sizes of your current images on the site, please use the Regeneration feature of the plugin which is also found in Settings > Media as well as on various Media related pages of the website.

On the page settings you are using a Move slider and in size small (consider adjusting those settings).

Thanks,
