Hey!

The next version will add a different kind of gallery manager and improved WPML support. Please wait a few days until the update arrives, it should then be easy to translate posts and the images attached to each gallery ;)

Cheers

Hi maratino,

Because Flashlight doesn't use the default wordpress attachments I don't believe that plugin will ever be possible to be compatible to the Flashlight galleries.

I've tagged Kriesi on the topic to see if he has any other thoughts on it but from the description of how it works I don't believe it would work.

Regards,

I am using WPML and tried to translate image descriptions using the WPML Media Translation Plugin http://wpml.org/2011/05/new-plugin-wpml-media-translation/. Seems that the Flashlight gallery is not compatible with that plugin.

Any recomondation on how to translate image descriptions?

Hi!

Yes, unfortunately this is a wordpress limitation: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/apostrophes-not-being-escaped-in-lightbox-title-or-description

You can try to escape the quote with a backslash:

\'

or

\"

Best regards,
Peter

Hi all:

I've noticed while using Flashlight that if you type an apostrophe (which is rendered as a non-curly single prime mark directly from the keyboard) anywhere in the Description area for any image in a gallery, the description text will be truncated from that apostrophe onward in the popup slideshow box! The description text is not truncated in the regular gallery page display, however....

Any thoughts?
I'm guessing that the single-prime mark interferes with the PHP string that is passed for the Description field causing the rest of the text to be ignored?.....

I have tested it, and if you take the time to enter the Alt codes for ‘real’ curly quotes anytime you need an apostrophe, the problem is fixed. Double-quotes that are rendered as double-primes when typed directly from the keyboard do not cause the truncation...

You should probably enter the Alt codes for real typography anyway for quality's sake, but when working on large numbers of images, it's just very time-consuming.....
