Hi Conny,

Re-uploading the original theme files should bring you back to square one without actually effecting any of your theme settings (those done in wordpress backend).

You can download the theme from Themeforest through your Downloads and then install it in the same way you first installed the theme.

Regards,

Hi Nick,

thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately you are right. I am not sure what to do and am afraid to mess up even more if I try to 'fix' it myself. Do you offer such a service?
Many thanks, Conny

Hi,

Please go back and download the theme again and replace the file you edited. I don't recommend for you to edit the theme files. Instead consider making a child theme and only making edits there. this way the original is never touched. Also, unless you know what you are doing, I know that editing theme files will only lead you into trouble.

Thanks,

Sorry Mya,
one more thing as I have just had word back from the domain host team:

'Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have checked your issue with website http://www.mcgbusiness.com/ and it seems that the issue is with the cleancut theme. I have tried to restore the backup, however the issue persists. Hence I suggest you to contact your theme vendor to fix the issue or restore the oldest backup if any is available in your local machine and check the issue.

If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

Sincerely,

Hi Mya,
yes, I went into the template file and changed content for the first two placeholders (line 72). The first one could be saved and viewed fine.
But the second one has thrown up the error as mentioned above.

At this stage it will either take:
1.) Restore to original content (not sure how to do that)
or
2.) Get a techie to access and fix.

Any thoughts?
Thanks again.

Hi kriesi.at Team,

trying to change content in the #2placeholder on the main index page causes this error message: 'Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /hermes/bosweb/web294/b2948/ipg.mcgbusinesscom/wp-content/themes/cleancut/index.php on line 72'

First time, had the domain provider change it but it did not fix the problem. They simply restored previous content.

Can you help?
Many thanks.

Hey,
I changed the images - they display fine for me now. I noticed that all 3 columns link to portfolio pages. You need to assign portfolio categories to each portfolio page otherwise all categories will be displayed. You can assign categories on this page: http://nbrdesignstudio.com/wp-admin/options.php?page=portfolio.php

Thank you very much. Still, every time I tinker with the indes.php for these images I get a page error or the same picture shows up in each of the main page placeholders.

You should be receiving an email with your admin name and password to http://nbrdesignstudio.com/wp-admin .

The pictures are named medium1.jpg, medium2.jpg, medium3.jpg (which are actually the smaller pictures that should show up on the main page pkaceholders.I also placed large1.jpg, large2.jpg and large3.jpg in the folders and these are the 2nd or medium pictures that I linked on each of the individual pages. I included no large pictures as I want the images on the main page to link to the pages web design, logo design and illustration.

All images are in the files folder:
http://nbrdesignstudio.com/wp-content/themes/display/files/

@Dude,

I know that you are hopefully sleeping right now in Vienna. I want to thank you and tell you how impressed I am that
you are managing to solve so many issues on kreisli.at ,have your own website, inoplugs and go to law school.

I read on another forum support request that was the same as mine, you asked for admin
priviedges to help solve issues.Therefore, the answer was not posted to his question.If you would be willing to ave me do the same for my site, I woud appreciate it. If yo would kindly send me your email, I will send you the info. I am in a real funk over this main column issue on the front page and I am sure there will be other issues as well. It seems as soon as I fix one thing, something else happens.

Well, none of that worked I( guess I am just too inexperienced to know how to change the php to point to my files. No matter what I do the same 3 pictures appear in the 3 display areas on the main page or I get errors and have to revert back to the original code.

I have been working for over 8 hours on this and have become exasperated.Dreamweaver will not let me edit the code locally using the online code editor.

Thank you for the help.

I think I understand also that I have to upload the 3 images onto each Page that links to the Main Page placeholders inorder for them to show up. I had selected auto-resizing so if I leave the large image (#3) blank but fill in the small image only, it will ink directly to my page and not to a Lightbox.

I hope this makes sense.

Hey,

The code dictating the image path and size is commented out. Replace this code:

$placeholder_image1 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium1.jpg';

#$placeholder_image3 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium3.jpg';

$placeholder_image1 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image1,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));
#$placeholder_image2 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image2,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));
#$placeholder_image3 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image3,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));

with this:

$placeholder_image1 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium1.jpg';
$placeholder_image2 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium2.jpg';
$placeholder_image3 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium3.jpg';

$placeholder_image1 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image1,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));

I am very new to al of this. Although I have edited many Blog Themes, they were very simple and not used as my main web Site. So I apologize for my naiveté.
I was able to change the text placeholders on my main page without any problems.However, when I changed the image placeholders(which were named medium1.jpg for all three images to the following:
$placeholder_image1 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium1.jpg';
#$placeholder_image2 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium2.jpg';
#$placeholder_image3 = get_bloginfo('template_url').'/files/medium3.jpg';

it changed nothing and all three images were displayed as medium1.jpg.

should I have edited this instead?:

                $placeholder_image1 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image1,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));
#$placeholder_image2 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image2,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));
#$placeholder_image3 = kriesi_build_image(array('url'=>$placeholder_image3,'height'=>'124','width'=>'280'));

Originally, I thought I was being crafty and just replaced the images in the directory where the original display placeholder images were and even though I uploaded three distinct images, it displays only medium.jpg in all three locations n the page.

How do I properly edit the index.php to resolve this issue?

If I would have remembered that I can add widgets there earlier, I could have saved us all a lot of time, sorry about that!

I would definitely recommend this method to the next person that asks...

Ok I just tried it and it has two problems:
it places a second set of the three images (with no text and no link) below the original three and:
The three images and their text are placed vertically (in all browsers), on the screen instead of horizontally.
Screen cap: http://webtransit.mobi/images/SS2.png

The first one was easy to fix, removing:
`		$placeholder[1] = $placeholder_image1;
$placeholder[2] = $placeholder_image2;
$placeholder[3] = $placeholder_image3;	'
removes the second set of the three images at the bottom with no seen adverse effects. the three images above are still placed vertically instead of horizontally though.

I'm thinking we are almost there, but I'm out of time. I have to have this website ready for launch this afternoon. I just found that I can place widgets on the main page(?), so I'm going to try to create the desired effect with three text widgets real quick if that doesn't work I'm going to just go back to the original with no links on these images. I'll update the post either way, but if the three widget thing doesn't work I'm going to leave this post open. For usability sake we believe that it's very important that these three images be linked to a page.

One promising thing about your method is that I can now easily place an alt tag in there!

Problem solved after a long night sleep ;-)
The plugin redirection made some redirections it self. So deleted them and ....yes page back!

Dear Kriesi,

Today I wrote a new page and now my homepage shows that latest page. I tried to update with the newest Display theme but that didn't work out so I changed it back. I am using WordPress 3.1 which wasn't a problem till I created that new page.
How can I get my index / homepage back? I searched the other topics but couldn't find the solution.

With friendly regards,
Els Tan.

and while talking about the Three Amigo's (the three images below the slider, I noticed they have a blank alt tag and I's like them to each have a different keyphrase in there. Should I open a new thread for that or can we address that too?

Hey,

Looking at the site in FireBug, only the first image has a link attached to it so the 2nd and 3rd column images won't link anywhere in any browser.

Can you upload the code you've used to http://pastebin.com (selecting PHP as the Syntax Highlighting) and link back to it here?

my bad, i typed it incorrectly, it's http://webtransit.mobi . . .

And thanks for fixing my code sample!

I appreciate your input, but adding

<a href="http://website.com"><img src="my-image.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a>

didn't work, I suppose because it was in the middle of a php statement and it's html not php? In fact it gives an error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/webtrans/public_html/wp-content/themes/display/index.php on line 58

I didn't mean to hijack this thread, it was just so closely related that I couldn't resist! :)

Hey,
first I cleaned up the thread a bit - my lightbox thread was intended for another request (was not the answer to your question). The first answer I gave was (second post) is the correct one.

Can you post a correct link to your site please. The link http://wentransit.mobi doesn't work for me.
