Hi!

Ipad and iphone problems:
1) You have to click twice on the portfolio thumbnails to open it. People don't realize it, they click once and than they just wait, complaining about the connection speed.
2) On the iphone, when you open full screen image, you cant leaf images by clicking on it. Its very uncomfortable to push the very small button below.
Thank you!

Hi SAdesignsUnltd,

Try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

/* All Mobile Sizes (devices and browser) */
@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
    .entry-content .widget.newsbox .news-link {
      float: none;
    }
}

That will clean it up a bit so that the image doesn't float left and allows the content to wrap under it.

Regards,

It just squeazes the text into a small column next to image, makes it really hard to read and looks bad.

How do I make it look like the blog page when in mobile? featured image, then title and excerpt below.

I'm having a lot of issues pulling up your site. The request timed out a few times and when the site was finally able to load there were a few of the resources unable to fully load.

The issue with the iphone may be related in that the iphone request is timing out and is causing it to appear like it can't pull things up.

There are a few things you can try:
- Disable any non critical plugins to reduce the strain on extra file loading into the page
- Remove the videos from the front page and just have the slides link to pages where the videos can be played
- Look into having your hosting account with your hosting provider upgraded

A caching plugin might also help but you'll need to make sure to set it up and not just install it and active it.

Hi,

There is no need for you to ever find rules, just drop the new rules at the end of your custom.css file or enter them on the bottom of Quick CSS which is located in the back end if you follow thee buttons -> Choices > Theme Options > Styling ... at the bottom of the page is the Quick CSS and that is where you would paste the code block above.

On the iPhone it makes little sense to keep the menu as is since it will become difficult to use due to the size constraints. The menu automatically is converted into a a drop down navigation select box which is already optimized for multiple smartphone screen sizes.

If you are interested in scanning the theme files to look for specific css or html structures, just download the free notepad++ ( http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.2.3.html ) and after installing , download a copy of the theme to your local desktop. Using Note++ do a Find on the entire folder and sub-folders and you will be shown the line numbers wherever the term is used that interest you.

Thanks,

Hi lvablog,

What specifically is showing incorrectly? Can you provide a link to your website?

It could be the responsive design which will change the layout for mobile browsers as well as tablets. You can disable this in the theme options under "Layout & Settings" and use the dropdown to select Fixed Layout. Make sure to Save all changes to see the change live.

Hi Devin!

Thanks for your response, but I can not find where should I change this rule. Can you just point the right direction to it?

Also, I would like that my logo partner list links to open in a blank page, I tried to add some simple html code to the link field in my frontpage template builder but it didn't work. Can you please let me know how to change this? I'm working hard to have this site ready to launch this weekend.

Hi Devin,
I wrote you a mail some days ago... but no answer. The problem still here but in part looks is solved.

In office we updated our iPhones OS to iOS6 and the problem disappear… It remain on iOS 5.1.1 … So is a problem related with scale or image resolution on the old iOS.

At this time I think we can consider the main problem solved…? Let me know.

Hi mctt,

There isn't a need to define the height and width of the #header_sub_menu that I can see. Removing them does help alignment a bit however.

On layouts below max-width of 767px, the sub menu class gets display:none added to it. To remove that, you should add a new rule to overwrite it. Ex:

@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
  .sub_menu {
  display: none;
  }
}

Then you can work on styling it for the various layouts. Even just adding a right padding or margin to the .sub_menu will get it looking like it belongs.

Regards,

Hi,
In the website I'm working on I have added a secondary menu on the header (you can see it here --> themconcept.michtormos.ca)
This new menu looks great in iPad when horizontal but it gets cutted when vertical and it desapears in the iphone.
I really would like to know how to make it "responsive".
And another question, is this menu going to be a problem when I install WPML and the translation buttons?

Thanks!

Can you add one of the images being used on the choices slideshow to your Flagship site and test it?

I believe its actually just the images and the way they are scaled down that is the issue and not anything the theme is doing.

Regards,

Hi Devin,
thank you for your answer. At this time I’m using iOS 5.1.1

1.	Regenerate thumbnails – I made this before to write on the forum
2.	I use WPML plug-ins and I prefer to not deactivate it… I’m afraid to have some trouble when I will reactivate it…

I send the mail today with some screen picture too of the problem. Let me know if you correctly receive the mail.

Is this with iOS6? Which iPad as well?

Just to clear up any outside issues, make sure you have no plugins active and then install and use this plugin to regenerate all your theme wide image files: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

If you can send me the link I can forward it on to Kriesi if the issue persists since I believe he is the only one who has an iPad for testing right now.

You can send the information to my email at DevinVinson (at) gmail.com. Make sure to include a link to this topic so that my spam filter doesn't grab it :)

Regards,

Hi Devin,
thanks for your reply! I think I was a bit unclear, sorry for that.

The problem is not related to the font (or the caption text) but only on the quality of the bitmap images. My Slide is a 990x556 px dimensions and tested in png+jpg format. On iPad with retina display the bitmap image looks not so bad, but on the iPhone is extremely pixelated.

I suppose that 990x556px is enough for the iPhone Retina display.

I can’t make public the link now (is a upcoming Event) but you can send me a email at suspect (at) casiersouze (dot)com I will send you the link of the site if you want take a look at it.

Again any help is welcome ;)

Hi Caiser,

Can you take a look at this font on your iPhone and see if it looks the same (pixelated) http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Open+Sans

If so, its just the way Google renders the font for iPhone and you'll need to use a Web Save font instead of a google font (or just another google font) for the headers.

Is this also happening for your images? If so, you may just need to use larger and better quality images so that they appear better.

Regards,

Hi, I’m a bit lost.
Using Choices 1.6.0 I notice with the responsive layout active my images (with graphic) looks terrible on iPhone. The first load look perfect and after some millisecond it downsize the quality and the image look ultra pixelated and simply horrible to look.

This experience is the same with the theme demo here at kriesi.at. You will se perfectly the issue with the first slide the text “Flying Caption” will look ultra pixelized …

This didn’t happend on Falgship theme for example…

Any help will be super appreciated.

Caiser

(sorry for my bad english...)

Thanks Dude! I am on top of this one.

As stated in email, you have one of your plugins injecting a second vieport meta directive on line 70 if you view source

in addition to the original which is on line 14

You will need to edit the plugin that is doing that (i suspect the social plugin, as it is also throwing an error for using a bad google+ jquery ) and change the above meta tag so that the plugin just inject a single space '&nbsp ;' (without the empty space between the single quotes.)

You will also need to edit your header.php file and remove the above viewport on line 14 of source (though its probably on a differnt line, should be easy enough to find) and delete it. Paste the line below in its place:

Now open this page please https://github.com/scottjehl/iOS-Orientationchange-Fix/blob/master/ios-orientationchange-fix.js and copy that javascript and paste it in your footer.php right *before* the *closing body tag* ...

Just dont forget to put it inside

Or you can use this plugin by Ben Wong , though I haven't tested it, but it seems to be doing the same thing.
http://benwong.me/downloads/ios-orientation-change-bug-workaround.zip

Thanks,

Nick

Please resent Nick the url. Personally I'm unable to reproduce the issue with an ipad/ipod, etc. because I don't own such a device. Flagship works fine on my Android 4.0 phone though. I'll tag this thread for Nick.
