I figured it out: I should have added the image to .entry-content li - and now everything works!

Hello,

I have added the following code
li { list-style-image: url(/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/rock10px.png); }
to the custom css to call a different image for list items instead of the usual bullet.
The problem is that when I add the code it adds these little bullets (=my new image) to the menu items and social icons as well.
Is there a way to get rid of them so that the new icon is displayed only on

when used on a page or post?
Please help! Many, many thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm not sure what's wrong since you're linking a page that has the issue in question completely removed. The only way I can provide specific instructions is by viewing the problem and live editing it. Could you put it in action again and let us know?

We use these applications with other websites (themes) without any issues. It is exactly the same problem when using both Jetpack Twitter and Twitter Tools. These are applied in a widget on our site.

The hashtags and links take on the style format of a bullet. How would I change that in the Newscast style sheet?

You can see an example at the bottom right of this website http://www.ZigPosterman.com

I am not using hashtags (e.g. #Newscast) right now, because the formatting looks so bad.

Hey,
yes the list symbols are background images. If you want to align the image in a new line (so not on the right side of your list) just change the image alignment by clicking on the image in your post/page editor - select align left or center or none and the image won't be on the right side anymore.

If you want to keep the image where it is you can remove the list lines behind it by following hack. Open up style1.css and search for following code:

.box img, .entry img, .wp-caption{
border:1px solid #E1E1E1;
}

replace it with:

.box img, .entry img, .box a:hover img, .entry a:hover img, .wp-caption{
border:none !important;
background: #fff !important;
paddding-left: 10px !important;
}

my research thus far seems to point to the fact that the bullets are set up as background images; is that the issue, perhaps? That wouldn't seem to have much to do with the lines, frankly.

I'm not sure how to resolve this, but check out what's happening with the bullets and lines on the lists on this page:

http://www.learnitsystems.com/new/2010/11/learn-it-report-portal/

I did some customization of the "li", creating some li ul settings for the main content window, and found that it was a tad diifficult to just affect the content area. However I did finally get content, sidebar and footer lis all working they way I want...I just can't, though, figure out why the bullets are showing up to the left of the image, within the padding, and why the lines are continuing all the way under images. This was the cast, with lines going into the margin and padding areas, even before I did any customization. I can't think of how to fix this....I don't even know what part of the css needs to be fixed, that for the images, or the lists.
