WordPress.org is where any user no matter who they host their website with can download the WordPress package and install it. </p> <p>WordPress.com, on the other hand, is for those users who want to use WordPress but don't want to bother with finding a host, buying a domain name or installing it themselves. The other difference is that with WordPress.com you have added features such as email notifications when someone likes your post. With WordPress.org you only receive notification if someone comments on a post. That is unless you use a plugin that offers that feature. If it did it would be under the plugin's settings or options page.</p> <p>So you may want to check your plugin's page to see if the feature is offered.
