Hey!

In this case I think Nick is totally right. I include certain functionalities for the most popular services but I am not a fan of adding every feature under the sun to a theme. Adding a linkedin share button is a perfect feature to be added by a plugin. actually my latest themes also no longer come with the facebook and twitter share buttons as well :)

"Keep it simple" is the name of the game ;D

Hi,

I think the problem is that there are just too many regional social networks around the world and to add them all (as well as keep track of all changes to their api,) is pointless, as there are well cared for plugins whose only purpose is to do all that. The plugin will let you know that an update is available if a single social network changes their API without the need for a complete theme update.

A great WordPress theme should not restrict developers by including every known bell and whistle, but to provide a robust foundation/framework easily extendable by the thousands of free (and premium) WordPress plugins.

Just my opinion,

Thanks,

Nick

I'm not familiar with the LINKEDIN api. You can try to find a social button plugin here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ or (if you're familiar with the linkedin code) you can implement it into Kriesi's social media "framework" - it can be found in flagship\includes\helper-social-media.php after following code:

######################################################################
# CUSTOM FACEBOOK & Twitter BUTTON
######################################################################

I'll also tag this thread for Kriesi as a feature request.

Hi,

Not yet as of Choices version 1.4.

In the meanwhile, you can either:

1) If you know PHP, you could modify helper-social-media.php and add the functionality yourself.

2) It is also possible to let visitors share a single page you select on their Linkedin profile, the same link from every page of your website. So only your homepage would be shared (for example) on your visitor's Linkedin profile from every post and page, and not the actual page on which they clicked the icon.

You can read here how to create that link here:

https://developer.linkedin.com/documents/share-linkedin

and then insert it in Choices backend, where you normally add the Linkedin icon.

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately It didn't work. I changed what you said:

if($dribbble = avia_get_option('linkedin')) echo "
".__('Connect with us on LinkedIn', 'avia_framework')."";

When I add the LinkedIn name in the social networking field, the icon only appears on the footer and not the of the site and still connects to Dribbble.

If I were to change all the php files that had dribbble to LinkedIn would that work?

Thank you

Kindly open wp-content\themes\propulsion\functions.php, and find this line of code:

if($dribbble = avia_get_option('dribbble')) echo "
".__('Follow us on dribbble', 'avia_framework')."
";

then replace dribble with linkedin. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Peter,

We still want to make the download 'public' so that anyone can download it, we just wish to track who is downloading the file. Therefore by requiring LinkedIn authentication or requesting an email address, it allows us to contact the individuals who are interesting in our download at a future date.

I have set up a page using Angular with access to download a document but I would like to set up some authentication prior to download as a way to track who is downloading the file. Is there way to create a pop-up screen or lightbox pop-up that requires users to login via LinkedIn or email in order to download the file?

Hi,

Open sidebar.php in your theme folder or by using Appearance > Editor then scroll to the bottom until you see this code.

####### SOCKET CONTAINER #######
 echo "
";
 echo "	© ".__('Copyright','avia_framework')." - <a href='".home_url('/')."'>".get_bloginfo('name')." - Wordpress Theme by Kriesi.at";

 echo "
";
 echo "
<a href='".avia_get_option('feedburner',get_bloginfo('rss2_url'))."'>RSS
";

 if($facebook = avia_get_option('facebook')) echo "
/

Facebook
";
 if($twitter = avia_get_option('twitter')) echo "
/

Twitter
";

 echo "
";

 echo "
";
 ####### END SOCKET CONTAINER #######

 echo "
";

After the Twitter link you'll want to add this:

/

SoundCloud

/

<a href='http://your-link-url-to-LinkedIn">LinkedIn

So final results would be:

####### SOCKET CONTAINER #######
 echo "
";

 echo "
";
 echo "
<a href='".avia_get_option('feedburner',get_bloginfo('rss2_url'))."'>RSS
";

 if($facebook = avia_get_option('facebook')) echo "
/

Facebook
";

Hi,
Is it possible to add custom Social Stuff links? I like the simplicity of the RSS, Facebook and Twitter links but would like to have a link to SoundCloud and LinkedIn.

Hello,

I also wish to add the LinkedIn icon too. Doing this method, will the icon be added to the header too?
If not, is there a way to add it to the header too?
Thank you,

of course. open the footer.php file and scroll down to the social bookmark list. there you need to change the url:

"http://dribbble.com/" with "http://linkedin.com/"

Whenever you fill in into the dribbble field in your backend will now link to linkedin. you might also want to replace the dribbble icon in your images/layout folder with a linkedin icon like this one: http://www.iconfinder.com/icondetails/65837/24/

Is it possible to use the Facebook (or Dribble) account field in the theme options and have this pointed to a Linkedin account?
If not, how can i add Linkedin?

I don't see any Linkedin icon in the layout images folder. Can I find/get this somewhere?

Is there a particular reason Linkedin is not included in this theme? I see it is included in other Kriesi.at themes.

as cybersven says you'll find the code for the social bookmarks at line 171 in your functions.php

You can follow the guidelines in my post to add your icon in there, the theme uses the same framework.
