Hi Samantha,

Go to the theme options>Styling tab and where it allows you to choose your Heading Font, set that to "no custom font". Then the themes base style.css will set the font to use Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial and finally a sans-serif font if none of those are available just like a normal web page would load in a font.

Dude,
Thanks for the reply!
How would I do that and what happens if I deactivate the font replacement script? Will a default font be used in all other browser's?

Thank you,

That's an cufon script issue. Unfortunately IE8 won't execute the font replacement script properly if the sidebar is hidden. Thus you can either deactivate the font replacement script or just show the sidebar by default and let the user decide if he wants to hide it or not.

P.S. There is one bug / error that I forgot to mention with hiding the menu when the site loads. It's occurring In IE8. The text for the menu is not showing on the Frontpage when you click the home button to make the menu show up. It's very difficult, sometime's, to click on the links to the other pages. But when I do go to other pages, the menu text is showing just fine. I've not tested this in all browser's yet but it appears to be happening in just IE8.

Are there any idea's on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Ismael,
Thanks for the video link. I've not had a moment yet to review it and attempt it but I will. I've been trying different methods with the .htc file but to no avail.... yet.
I've run into some other problems that I'm more concerned about and will have to post another ticket about.

I do have an update on the first question I had about hiding the menu on the home page.
I tried the code that Dude suggested in the avia.js file and it didn't work for me in Chrome or IE8 & 9.

I did find a solution though! I was able to make the menu hidden though by creating a page for the Front Page. I called this page "about". Then at the the bottom of the page, there is an option for Instant Gallery Background. I set this to hide the navigation upon loading the page. This method appears to work for Chrome, IE 8 & 9. I still need to test it though in other browser's.

Thanks,
Samantha

Hi,

IE8 doesn't support border radius, the solution is to create border radius images or do it via jquery.

Hi!
Thanks for the tips!
Somehow I managed to get the home page to show up with the menu hidden. I'll have to look at the other post you suggested to see which method leaves the most flexibility.

In the meantime, I've done some research and was able to find some additional code to make this happen in all the browser's except for IE 8 or earlier. Is there a way to create the rounded corner's for IE 8 and earlier as well? My client is using one of these older browser's unfortunately, and can't see that i've made the changes.
Here's the code I'm using now:

.box {
opacity: 0.8;
border:none 0px #000000;
-moz-border-radius-topleft: 30px;
-moz-border-radius-topright:30px;
-moz-border-radius-bottomleft:30px;
-moz-border-radius-bottomright:30px;
-webkit-border-top-left-radius:30px;
-webkit-border-top-right-radius:30px;
-webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:30px;
-webkit-border-bottom-right-radius:30px;
border-radius: 30px;
}

Thank you!
Samantha

Hey!

1) Add following code to css/custom.css and adjust the border radius value:

.box {
    border-radius: 8px;
}

2) Have a look at this post: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/start-webside-in-fullscreen-mode-without-menu#post-54243

Hello,
1. Is it possible to customize the shape of the main menu and main content area boxes to have rounded corners? It's too boxy looking for my client's tastes.

2. I'd like for the landing page or Home page to have the menu hidden when a visitor enter's the site. I realize they can do this by clicking on the hide menu button but it's not as obvious at first and I'd like to showcase the photos upon arrival.

Thank you,

Hi,

I concur with Devin. Not sure why it did'nt work I just tried http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bj-lazy-load/ on a site with many photos and it worked great. In the plugin's settings please try loading the javascript in header and another time in footer and see if there is a difference. First though, you should empty your cache.

Thanks,

Hey fla_dechen,

Yep, in that kind of situation where you are loading a huge amount of photos a plugin is going to be the most simple route followed by attempting to mod the theme, which with this situation could be fairly complex.

Thanks Nick, I installed the plugin but didn't noticed any difference, actually... maybe I'm missing some configuration, I don't know.
I'll look further for another solution, but I believe using plugins may be the best way, right?
Thanks again for the help, Nick!

Hi Flavio,

Please install this plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/lazy-load/) . It loads only the images which are on the user's screen first and only then starts loading images off screen. This would be the easiest solution.

This is a similar solution as above (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/lazy-widget-loader/) but for very slow widgets, to make sure the widget loads last.

Hello people,
is there a way to load product categories before all product images in the homepage?
I mean, my client wants a hundred products in the homepage, and they take a while to load... just then the categories load. What I need is that the categories load at launch, so the user won't need to wait for the entire page and products to load before they know what the categories are.
Thanks in advance,

Sorry Ismael I may have not expressed myself correctly. I am aware of what you would like to have me do with the template builder, but I want something different.

I want to create a link that when you click it, it brings you to a portfolio page that can sort multiple categories (Angular can do this by ctr-clicking the all the categories) BUT I want the user to land on a PRE-sorted category (specified by this link I need your help with). So this link I need to create would have to be equipped with a function that when you click it brings you to the portfolio page and sorts the categories to one specific category, while loading all other categories selected as well (but hiding them with the sorting feature).

The goal is to bring the user to a pre-sorted portfolio page (sorted to 1 category out of 4 on the page, let's say) so that the user could then sort through the other categories without leaving the page.

What you proposed forces 1. the separation of portfolio categories on different pages and 2. the user to switch pages for different categories... so it's not at all optimal for my needs.

I hope I have explained myself better this time, let me know if you want me to clear anything up. Even though I don't think you have a theme option for this, I am positive that this is possible. Could you please ask one of your team mates to make sure? Thanks a lot :)

Hi Andre,

Try to use a template builder, create a new template and add a portfolio element. Then set the portfolio post number, same with the total number of your images and select the specific category. I don't think we have the option to display all portfolio items so, the instruction above is an alternative solution. To make the instructions above clearer, try to check this demo: Abundance Theme Demo 6: Building improved layouts with the template builder, in this link: http://www.kriesi.at/themes/angular/template-files/video-tutorials/. Hope this helps. :)

Hey guys! A quick question to see if this is possible :) I would like to have my entire portfolio on one page, non-paginated portfolio but with a few categories. Then I want to have a few links on my home page that link to those sorted categories. So I guess the link would call the portfolio page and then execute the sort category function.

Possible?

Hi Andre,

It has a little bit more to do with overall performance quality than UX. The page does a single query when it loads up for all of the portfolio categories + a number that you define in the backend. When you "sort", it just hides what is currently shown on the page except for the option you chose.

To do what you, and others, have asked for would be another full query to the database and then to load in all of those that were selected dynamically into the page. The ajax loader already gets a lot of performance flack for doing this and it is only loading in one set of data at a time. Multiply that by 2,3 or more and you can see how it would quickly turn into a big performance issue.

Regards,

Hey Dude, I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed with that answer "we don't consider this a bug/issue". Maybe it's not a bug, but it certainly is an issue. Unless you guys don't consider UX problems issues.

I completely agree with user 'evantage' who says:
"Maybe you should put little more effort on this case! because it's almost useless to use/display portfolio items with sorting if you don't or actually can't display more then 8 items due to page space or scroll, I bumped into this one and it's another thing that is limiting the use of the theme, the theme is great, its really powerful and rich in features, but this stuff really killing it's functionality."

This means I will have to have a giant portfolio page with all of my entries, completely overwhelming the user. The page will obviously have to SCROLL (lame) in order to get the sorting feature to work. Also, contrary to the argument that you put forth on why you would not support this functionality, loading a giant portfolio page to make use of the sorting feature would make it slow and laggy anyways. No? Pretty counter-intuitive in my opinion... Doesn't look like I'm the only customer to feel this way either.

I'll add that your demo on themeforest was a little misleading as the portfolio wasn't presented in a way to notice this huge limitation.

It's really too bad because I love the template and was almost satisfied with my purchase. Sadly, because of this issue, I will have to invest a lot of time trying to make my own "makeshift" solution to this problem.

I understand that you don't want to distribute something you're not happy with, I completely respect that, but it would be nice for you guys to provide your customers with a little support on this issue. Maybe even a few suggestions on how to achieve this functionality on our own. You guys are superstars, you got to have something. Anything?

Thanks for the honest response though.

All the best,

This issue is being fix at the moment. Please hold on for further updates. I will tag the rest of the support team.

The only solution so far is to increase the number of portfolio entries shown on a single page.

Hey guys thanks for an amazing looking template. I tried searching but couldn't find the answer to this and I really hope this is possible.

On a portfolio page with pagination you can display let's say for example 2 portfolio pages with 6 items on each page. But when you sort them, the sorting only filters down what's displayed on that page and not what's actually in the entire portfolio. So for example you can only sort 6 items at a time instead of the actual 12 existing items.

Is this true or am I missing something? It's pretty jarring from a user's perspective. Then the user would have to switch pages and filter through the second page... if they even realize there is a second page. I don't think the average user would realize that the filter didn't work on all items.

Is it possible to sort through ALL of your portfolio items from any portfolio page you're on?

Maybe there is a way to load all the portfolio items at once, but only display them in pagination according to the grid settings in the back end. This is what I expected the functionality to be like for some reason. Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Other than that A+ guys! Solid template :)

Thanks, Andre

Thats correct. It might just be in the communication between the site and the video hosting sites or the large images themselves loading in combined with the server response in loading everything up for the end user.
