Hi Vanwero,

I think only flash is the only thing that is compatible to both. I think uploading it to youtube or vimeo and paste the embed code in your site, is a better solution to it.

Regards,

Hi Ismael,

thanks a lot...

Which video-extension works best in both? (Windows & Mac, iPad, iPhone,...)
Do you know that?

- wmv seems to work in windows (as it is a Windows Media File)
- MP4 seems to work on mac, iPad, iPhone (but not online on Windows pc's)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vanwero,

I think you should convert the file, .wmv is not recommended on the web. But if you want to still use it, you can check this site: http://www.ehow.com/how_8256006_import-wmv-files-wordpress.html

Hi,

I want to embed a movie (.wmv) in a page or post. Is this possible?
I've uploaded the wmv-file in my media-uploads, so I can create a link to it, but as said... I want to embed it into a page or post.

Any suggestions? Usefull plugins? Html-code,...?

Thanks in advance!

Ps: I also tried to do it with youtube (plugin: "Advanced YouTube Embed Plugin - Embed Plus"), but thats not such a "clean" solution (youtube => advertisements, similar movies at the end which are proposed,...)

Vanwero.

This may help and save precious time.

Mediaelement did not switch properly between video formats: in FF I could hear audio but had a black screen - no video. Quite a common issue, I learned.

AddType video in htaccess did not solved the problem alone.

Apparently it's a server issue the causes a bug in the mediaelementplayer.css file: I changed .me-plugin position from absolute to static.

Don't know why, but works.

Ciao!

Hi,
Choices does not support self hosted (html5) videos out of the box. However you can use plugins like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/projekktor-html5-video-extensions-and-shortcodes/ or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/videojs-html5-video-player-for-wordpress/ or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/media-element-html5-video-and-audio-player/ to embed html5 media into your website.

Hi Guys,

I'm using the Choices theme, and have 2 questions/issues:

1. I want to place MP4 encoded videos inline, but can't find any reference to how I can do this in the docs nor other posts.

2. I was able to place a self hosted video into the post slider, but it doesn't resize the video (nor the div around the vid). This happens in all responsive states as well.

Here is a test page: http://dev.theguitarlesson.com/uncategorized/video-test/

Hi,
1) To get the same effect (Thumbnail + embedded video if the user clicks on the thumbnail) use following configuration:

a) Add a featured image/slide to your slider (you can also use other sliders except the 3D slideshow).
b) Search for the "Apply link to the image?" option and select "Embed Video when image is clicked (Enter the URL to a video file or a service like youtube/vimeo)". Then enter your video url (I'm not sure if self hosted videos from "external" servers are supported or if you need to store them on your local server; youtube, vimeo, etc. are also supported).

2) If you changed the image/slideshow size you also need to regenerate the images with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

When I insert a video (mp4) there is no thumbnail image like in the demo, the video is misaligned, and it doesn't handle the onHover state as well as the others do in the accordian.

I added an image on one slide, and without paying attention to the size, it's too tall. I guess I thought it resized the image to fit. No worries, but when I try to adjust its size it doesn't affect the size of the image. I tried deleting the initial image, and it won't delete. (I had to delete slide altogether.)

Here is the link: http://metroindybasketball.com

Otherwise, it's looking sharp.

Hey,
I'm not aware of a solution for this problem. Obviously many mobile devices don't support the adobe flash player at all but support html5 videos (eg mp4) but I'm not sure why desktop players can't play the mp4 video without quicktime....

Hi there.

I can successfully play flash or mp4's using prettyPhoto (3.1) My question is that if I choose flash it works on desktops but not on mobile devices. Conversely if I change format to mp4 I now have it working on mobile devices but for PC's that don't have the QT plugin no such luck. The movie wont play. Do you know of any way I can get this to work on both? Is there some type of fallback for mobile devices if Flash is not supported. Someone must be trying to have done the same thing using prettyPhoto due to it's popularity.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I have tested out “WP Lightbox Ultimate” but sadly it is not compatible with the Avisio Theme. When using the standard theme (Twenty Ten 1.2) the HTML 5 Video option works beautifully on the iPad but that is not an option... ;)

Hi Kriesi, I need help with the integrated lightbox.

It is playing videos fine when they are in .mov format. But I does not work with an .mp4 file which I need for being compatible with iPad users.

I have searched for a lightbox plugin which supports .mp4 files and I found “WP Lightbox Ultimate”.

Do you think after installing this plugin all will be fine or will it conflict in somehow with the integrated lightbox solution in your theme?

I guess even when it should work I will loose your beautifull mouseover effekt where the pictures gets a bit darker and you can see this video symbol. Though I hope not… ;)

Great theme btw!

---

I tried to follow the advice of user bmeier which you can find here:
http://forums.no-margin-for-errors.com/discussion/674/prettyphoto-for-avi-and-mp4/#Item_2

and put his code in the file: jquery.prettyPhoto.js

but it does not work here either…

---

Finally I got it! :)

After changing the “jquery.prettyPhoto.js” file I just had to use this code structure within my post to show the mp4 video within the PP Lightbox:

<a href="http://trailers.apple.com/movies/universal/despicableme/despicableme-tlr1_r640s.mov?width=640&height=360" title="Despicable Me" rel="prettyPhoto[movies]"><img src="/wp-content/themes/NMFE/images/thumbnails/quicktime-logo.png" alt="Despicable Me" /></a>

and change the word ”.mov” to ”.mp4”

<a href="http://trailers.apple.com/movies/universal/despicableme/despicableme-tlr1_r640s.mp4?width=640&height=360" title="Despicable Me" rel="prettyPhoto[movies]"><img src="/wp-content/themes/NMFE/images/thumbnails/quicktime-logo.png" alt="Despicable Me" /></a>

(Source: http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/#!prettyPhoto[movies]/0/ )

Best of all: I did not loose the beautifull mouseover effekt & do not have to use another plugin! :)

---

Correction:

Sadly it just works on FF 5 but not with IE9 & more important not with the iPads Sarafi though it worked strangely with Sarari on Win & Mac.

Avisio is sweet. The way it is put together makes sense (not to mention it looks great!). The code inside is nicely labelled and tight. Nice job.

I'm experiencing similar problems as mentioned above. Unfortunately, the code provided above (which I also found on the prettyPhoto site) aren't doing the trick for me. I am either getting the 1) "Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and image exist." or 2) " I see only white box in lightbox" situations.

Here are examples of what happens if I just use the DEMO code provided:

If I post the demo code for Flash, I get a white, empty lightbox.

If I post the code for the Despicable Me quicktime movie, I get the exact same thing. If I remove the width/height code and the img src code, it will actually pull up Quicktime, but not play anything.

If I link to my own FLV clip, I get the "Image cannot be loaded. Make sure path is correct and image exist" error. However, can I link directly to a FLV in prettyPhoto, or does it need to be a .swf? (That will be my next question.)

I have a feeling this is something really stupid I'm missing, but I just spent more time than I'd like to admit wrestling with it and I'm willing to humiliate myself at this point to get it working.

Witness my problems for yourself here:
http://cinemediaproductions.com/cineblog/?page_id=26

I have samples with the code I used listed in the post. There are a couple images to let you know lightbox works fine with still images.

Thanks

Thanks, Dude!

That did the trick. Now the video links and plays fine. I didn't have to put in all the code you showed above, just

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqXOKg2dCQc. I was copying the address from the url line at the top of my browser instead of clicking the "share" button right below the video window in YouTube.

Thanks Dude for the quick response! Thanks, Kriesi for a great theme!

@ genesiscom - please don't link to your channel but to the video itself, so it should look like:

Hello,

I've run into the same problem getting videos to work. If I place a video inline in the portfolio post by clicking the insert video on the toolbar, then paste the link from YouTube, I get an error message "Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and image exist." I get the same error message when I click the filmstrip icon that shows when you mouse over the book cover image. The website is: http://christian-publishing.net/category/portfolio/through-the-eyes-of-god.

Hi there

Love the work, I use Avisio as the carcass for many new sites. Just have same issue as Openmedia11. I've tried pasting as follows:

http://www.youtube.com/v/rkgH63Vz4lI

into the portfolio WSYIWYG editor, but to no avail. I get no image at all, evenin the post itself.

Do I put in the embedding code instead? Or do I need dimensions?

Any help is much appreciated.

If it's a YouTube video, just paste the URL, if its a SWF file then paste the SWF file URL along with width and height parameters.
