Hello there,

can we upgrade Wordpress from 3.5 to the new release Wordpress 3.5.1 (especially with the Replete theme)?

If so, do we need to do some things (save languages, plugins, etc), do something with Woocommerce?

Sincerely,

Hey downeasy,

Yep! You can just replace the files listed as updated in the version.rtf via ftp and that will update the theme.

I just downloaded the latest version of Abundance, and would like to upgrade my current version, 1.3.2, but I am unsure about how to do this without completely uninstalling the current theme. I haven't done much customization of Abundance, but I have done enough that I don't really want to start over. Is there a walkthrough on how to properly update this theme?

Alternatively, can I simply replace the files listed as updated in the new version.txt file? If I ftp in to my folders and delete/replace each file will that be sufficient or will I need to hand-code some hooks within other files?

Hi LEKelly,

There were a number of fixes in the last update so I would suggest, if you can, upload the new theme files on top the old ones via FTP. The fix isn't css related so a quick copy and paste wouldn't fix it.

You can download the custom.css file and re-upload the file after the update to make sure any css changes present are added once again.

Regards,

I just wondered if instead of all the backing up and theme updating, maybe it's possible for me just to add some custom css coding to my current theme to make the cufon rollovers show up? If so, can you share what that custom css would be? If not, I'll try the updating and overwriting, with fingers crossed. Thanks.

Currently we do not offer an update notification service.

I'd recommend to use a ftp client like filezilla for this task. Connect to your server, navigate to wp-content/themes/flashlight and backup the theme files if you've made any customizations. Then unpack the themeforest zip file and unpack the flashlight.zip file. Then upload the uncompressed theme folder into wp-content/themes/ and overwrite the existing files. At least replace your custom.css file (if it contains any custom css code - otherwise skip this step).

Hi, I'm very excited to read that the new Flashlight 6.0 update fixes the cufon rollover problem. However, I guess I've never updated a theme and am not exactly sure what to do. First I downloaded it from Themeforest, removed the Flashlight.zip from the larger folder to my desktop (not doing that resulted in a "The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet" error), and then tried to upload to my site via WP theme uploader. I get this message: "Destination folder already exists. /home2/bar9/public_html/wp-content/themes/flashlight/
Theme install failed."

Do I simply rename the zip file to something or ....? Also, do I have to worry about losing anything, like all my custom css, by doing this upgrade?

Thanks for answering these basic questions.

Hey,
it's not a bug but a feature. IE8, 7, etc didn't support the border radius css property (while Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc. did). Now Microsoft decided to release something which isn't crap (no I'm not an apple fan, I'm using Win7 :) ) and implemented css3 features like border radius. If you want to remove the rounded corners just search style.css for "border-radius" attributes and delete all entries.

Hello again,

Just realized that you've already provided an update which, among other thing, deals with the IE9 slider problem. I'm impressed! :)

The css rendering problems with circles instead of squares on the dropcaps, and rounded corners instead of sharp corners on the frontpage tabs, persists.

Hi,

Yesterday I updated to Internet Explorer 9 on one of my computers and suddenly the frontpage slider doesn't work properly on my Avisio site (http://www.yttra.se/). When I watch my website in IE 8 everything works fine.

Moreover, there are some css issues like the []dropcap2] quickcode used to render nice-looking squares but in IE9 renders round circels.

The font rendering issue has been brought up to discussion here already and I managed to find a solution in the forum, changing to the new version of cufon.js.

I know this is strictly an IE9-related problem, however, is there a new slider script to use, a new styesheet or some other fixes to deal with this IE9-problems?

Thanks for any help!

Best wishes from Sweden,

There's always a few steps to upgrade WP or a theme.

1.) Backup your Database (very important!!)
2.) Activate the Twenty Ten (default) theme
2.) Rename the existing Display folder to display-backup
3.) Upload the new version of Display to your Themes folder.
4.) Activate the new Display theme
5.) Check and save the options.

If anything goes wrong, you have the old version of the theme to set live again straight away (just rename it back to display) and you have the database backup in case it needs restoring.
