Hi,

You mean you replaced the code and are having an error on line 97 with the new functions.php file i gave you ? what do you see on your line 97?
This should be your line 97 now

'wp_list_comments',

Please set me up a temp admin account and email me at usjahm (at) gmail (dot) com.. If it is really the case that you are getting an error on the same line no matter what code is on that line, then your code is haunted :)

Thanks,

Hi,

If by manually upgrade you mean that you deleted the wp-admin and wp-includes folders and then deleted every file in your root folder except wp-config.php and the wp-content folder and then uploaded all the files via ftp , you've done it correctly. However just in case try doing it again.

When you pasted the contents of include_framework.php into functions.php , the error now would be inside functions.php on the same line as before which now is an empty space or ##### ?

Because I am wondering if those perl style comments with hashes are causing a problem.

Please try this file, its a combination of the two files and i changed the line numbers around a little so you should definately not get an error on the same line number now. Please let us know

http://pastebin.com/QWVd196K ..at line 103 starts the include_framework.php

----
also you are using http://designtexsi.com/designtexsi/ and http://www.surfaceimaging.designtex.com/ ... are you calling the correct pages into your frameset?

Thanks,

Hi,

I am not sure about the complexity level of the problem but it looks like you rewrote practically the entire theme inside a frameset. so its definately not something I've seen yet. But no worries, we will get to the bottom of this.

Would you put file /framework/include_framework.php on gist also.

Please test something. After you put the file up. copy the entire contents of /framework/include_framework.php and paste it all in functions.php after line 97. Please comment out line 97 so that it will look like the code below after you pasted everything after it.

//include_once(KFW.'/include_framework.php');

Actually before you do any of that, could you delete everything below line 95, your last line. I am not sure what you have below it but those aren't lines. My new fresh theme has lines 95-97 as proper lines

include_once(KFW.'/include_framework.php');

while you are missing 96 and 97 entirely so you empty space is not quite empty. I think we may have some paranormal activity on those two ghost lines.

Take a look. http://i.imgur.com/EzldbW7.png Yours is the left one. The only differences are the missing \r\n on 96 and 97 and that strange colored area.

Can you copy 95-97 from what i pasted above over your lines first and see if anything changes.

Thanks,

Strange, the file doesn't contain any syntax errors. You can try to re-upload/re-install all theme files. Make a backup of the newscast folder, re-upload all files and then replace the php files one by one to find the file which contains the syntax error.

my site loads fine but when I click any page or link I get this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?' in /home/skinney1/public_html/designtexsi/wp-content/themes/newscast/functions.php on line 97

I looked at line 97 but can not figure out what needs to be changed or updated. I compared the code in the functions.php on the server with the back up copy I have and they match - so nothing has changed but I'm getting this error.

Any help?

I was running 3.4.1 and manually upgraded to wp 3.5 thinking that would work - but no luck.

Hey,
try to add following code to style1.css:

.entry .aviaslider li, .entry .aviaslider li a, .entry .aviaslider li a img {
padding: 0 !important;
margin: 0 !important;
border: none !important;
}

In addition check the text/slider input. It seems like WordPress adds breaks (br tags) between the link tags and images.

Hello, buy the aviaslider, and I tried to follow the instructions given in the forum to install WP, and
I managed to get the images change, but do not appear in the same place so the effect is not well
I have installed the theme Newcast 4 in 1, which is excellent, but I want to add this effect to internal pages aviation,
if you could tell me I'm doing wrong?, not where I place files that brings aviaslider folder, I place it inside WP plugins now Nose to do because there are two Newcast custom.js and that of the aviaslider must be put together?

This is the blog to see what happens: http://www.epicatours.byethost32.com/?page_id=313

and this is the code I put on the page

<!-- JAVASCRIPT GOES HERE -->

<!--this file includes the aviaslider: -->

Rereading this you asked for the URL of the "modified state" I had that in a prior posting.

Here is the page I am testing on http://visitlondonderry.com/2011/05/strawberry-fields-forever-in-londonderry/

The files function.php and single.php would be in the appropriate WP locations, the reason I sent you my email on your personal contact page.

I did come up with a possible workaround, but intend to hold off on that testing until you have a chance to look at this.

The thought is we would remove the preview image code in single.php and add the full width image by hand in the post. I note this if others want to try that option.

Well James, that had odd results. I am going to go check the code, I must have made a mistake. Made the changes, and I regenerated the thumbnails with the plugin... rechecking the code...

Looks like the changes to function.php and single.php match what you gave me.

The image is distorted with lines of color and is still the original "M" size 180x180.

I changed the "99999" you recommended in the height setting to "320" and that eliminated the distortion. We are planning on a standard 700x 320 for our feature image so that works for us. We do not need a unlimited height for this project.

With that change the feature image is still 180x180, oddly a magnifying glass is in the middle of the post at what would be the center of the new wider image. I think we need to make one more change to have that image span the entire column, but I am not sure what that is. Here is the page I am testing on http://visitlondonderry.com/2011/05/strawberry-fields-forever-in-londonderry/

Also once we find the changes, I would also like the single pages to support this option, not just the posts.

Hey,

I agree that the image size needs fixing, the page doesn't look right as it is.

In functions.php immediately under this code:

$k_option['custom']['imgSize']['base'] = array('width'=>267, 'height'=>180); // backend preview size, if changed does not affect the frontend
$k_option['custom']['imgSize']['S'] = array('width'=>60, 'height'=>60); // small preview pics for half sized posts and sidebar news
$k_option['custom']['imgSize']['M'] = array('width'=>180, 'height'=>180); // big preview pic for full sized posts
$k_option['custom']['imgSize']['L'] = array('width'=>700, 'height'=>320); // image for accordion and featured news slider
$k_option['custom']['imgSize']['XL'] = array('width'=>960, 'height'=>320); // big images for fullsize pages and fade slider

add this code:

$k_option['custom']['imgSize']['P'] = array('width'=>566, 'height'=>99999); // post content image

This creates a new image size called "P" (for page?) which is the content width (580px) minus the 7px padding on each side of the image (580 - 14 = 566) with unlimited height.

Next, in single.php find this code:

$preview_image = kriesi_post_thumb($post->ID, array('size'=> array('M'),
 'display_link' => array('lightbox'), // '_prev_image_link' or array('lightbox')
 'linkurl' => array ('fullscreen','_preview_big'),
 'wh' => $k_option['custom']['imgSize']['M']
 ));

and change it to:

$preview_image = kriesi_post_thumb($post->ID, array('size'=> array('P'),
 'display_link' => array('lightbox'), // '_prev_image_link' or array('lightbox')
 'linkurl' => array ('fullscreen','_preview_big'),
 'wh' => $k_option['custom']['imgSize']['P']
 ));

to use the new image size.

Lastly, you need to regenerate the thumbnails as the image sizes defined in functions.php only apply to new images, not to existing ones. Use the WP Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to do this.

Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Great Question! Woke up thinking about the same thing.

We set the feature image to 700 x 320 it works great in the slider. The square image is fine in the post on the home page. It would be nice to have it a full width on the post page when the reader clicks the "read more" or title. I estimate that would be about 600 pixels wide by 275 pixels tall spanning the top of the story. Sort of a wide screen image that matches the aspect ratio of the slider.

Can you please tell me - the featured image for my posts (which is currently displaying at the top of all posts as a small image) - how can I make display as a large image?

e.g. http://www.my4212.com.au/2011/06/03/westfield-on-acid/ the image at the top of this post is the featured image. I want it to be large and at the top of the post. NOT small as it currently is.

How can I make that change please?

Thank you very much.
