Hi nandanalin,

The portfolio page will be whichever page you designate to hold a portfolio through Theme Options>Portfolio. You can have multiple portfolio pages using different categories/options.

The protection text is generated by wordpress. They have a sample function in the codex for how to change it with a filter: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Password_Protection#Protected_Excerpt_Text

As far as I know the only thing that can be displayed from a password protected post is the title. The theme wraps all of the extra data like images into the protected status as well but I'm not aware of any way to change it so that only the thumbnail is view-able.

Regards,

Hello,

 I would like to edit the portfolio page but I can't find where or how.

 How could I delete the text:There is no excerpt because this is a protected post?

 Its possible to show the thumbnail when is a protected portfolio like when is not protected?

Thank you

Hi shoestringsites,

I believe the issue is that the sidebar and content are associated with the page content. So when you view a page with a password, the data is not even accessible to the user so it can not be manipulated yet.

By setting the content to be hidden on load there is definitely a conflict between how the item is requested and how a user would enter a password but I'm not sure if its a solvable issue. The nature of the protection means no content (even the presence of a gallery) can be accessed until the password has been entered and the server receives it.

I'll tag Kriesi on the post so that he can take a look at it and see if a fix/word-around or something can be done for that specific instance.

Regards,

Selecting 'Display Gallery on page load, user needs to click on the "home" button to show sidebar and content' and giving the post a password results in a broken portfolio item; In the portfolio the item appears as usual with a padlock. When entering that portfolio item the page is blank.

Caveat: If you've previously entered the password for that item (before choosing the 'Display Gallery on page load, user needs to click on the "home" button to show sidebar and content' setting) then the portfolio will work as expected.

Removing the password the portfolio item works as expected. Setting Instant Background Gallery back to 'Display Sidebar and content on page load, user needs to hide it manually' the portfolio item works as expected.

When the page is blank, viewing the source reveals that the HTML is there, so it looks to me like the password protection javascript removes the bottom bar (with the option to show the sidebar+content), and the 'Display Gallery on page load…' option removes both the sidebar and content area, despite the fact the content area is needed at this point in order to request the password. The result is a completely blank page that the user cannot enter a password into in order to progress.

The code to hide the sidebar+content should really take place AFTER the password has been entered, i.e. when displaying the gallery. Not before.

I deleted my cookies and catches and still nothing. I have a page that I am selling a product from a category so I made a page with a dynamic template to show only that category. Still, it goes through without the need to set a password. I also made sure that i selected the second line of text was what I changed it too as well.

Hi,

Dude's code works for me. What are the elements of your template?

Please try clearing all cookies and cache or use a different browser because the first time around I tested it without the template and entered a password, so when I added the template for the second test, at first it didn't show the password field, but once I cleared the cookies, the password field showed up again.

Also when switching between the code window and Dude's pasted code make sure you are grabbing the second block of code and not the first (another mistake I frequently made).

Thanks,

Thanks for the help, I did update it but it did not work. I put a password on the page with the dynamic template on it but when I went to the page, it went on through without having to put a password in there. Is there another step that I should do to that?

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to password protect pages with a dynamic template in them. I can add a password to the page but when I go onto that page, it goes through and does not really block anything. I have a client that is selling photos and he needs to be able to add passwords to pages for his pictures he is selling. Any help would be great for this, thank you so much. Also, I am using the Abundance theme as well. Thanks!

I found the solution! I'm surprised more people haven't noticed this bug.

The problem is that WordPress 3.4 has deprecated the use of wp-pass.php which was used in many custom password forms and replaced it with wp-login.php. The following link explains how to swap the code in the theme's function.php file. Worked for me! Hope this helps someone else.

http://tummel.me/wordpress-3-4-custom-password-form/

Thanks for your time Dude!

Hey!

I'm not sure what causes this issue (to be honest I never came across it before). Maybe a third party plugin interferes with the standard wordpress password protection?

Regards,

HI!

I've been having a problem and I think it may be caused by the most recent update 3.4.1.

I've made no changes to my site accept for updating wordpress and just recently I've noticed that one of my password protected pages is not redirecting me to the content when the password is entered. It just seems to load wp-pass and then reload the password "enter your password" form. See here: http://www.xpographics.com/ftp-client-upload/

I haven't been able to find anything online that fixes this. Not sure if others are having this problem.

I would LOVE some help!

Thanks!
(Using DISPLAY theme)

Hey!

You can add a password protection to all posts, pages and portfolio items which can also contain the gallery shortcode. There's no other way to show the galleries with wordpress.

Regards,

I am looking for the password protect gallery - function as well! Where do I find that? As I see it - password is only possible on posts, since there is no view of galleries? Or did I miss something?

One of the reasons I got this theme was because of the password protect on galleries - feature! So I really hope its not a misprint:o)

Hi,
1) Yes - you can add a custom menu by using the menu widget. You can even create product category specific menus by using widget logic.

2) Category archive pages will always link to the posts. I'm not aware of a plugin which can change this behaviour. You could use a redirecion plugin but obviously this is a dirty workaround.

3) I'm sorry. This is beyond the scope of this support forum. However you can try to hire a freelancer here: http://themeforest.net/forums/topic/themeforest/25

4) I wouldn't adjust the width of the area (otherwise you risk to overlap the left cursor area with the zoom area). Open up abundance\woocommerce-config\woocommerce-mod.js and search for following two lines:

zoomHeight: 'auto',

and:

zoomWidth:613

Replace 613 with any other value (it's a px value) and/or replace 'auto' with any fixed px value (eg 500).

Dude,
Thanks for responding. I have a few more questions:

1. I used the following code to hide the side bar and it worked, but is there no way to have the products display in the entire area?
.single_sidebar.template-shop .sidebar {
display: none;
}

If not, how can I create a menu and put in the sidebar? Do i just create a custom menu and then add it to a widget?

2. Because I a doing a print site, I need to have some information pages... Is it possible to have a category (like Other Services) that will link to a page rather than a catalogue type listing?
3. I really want to have the mouseover zoom on the product layout pages... Can you tell me what needs to change?
4. How do I make the Image Zoom area in the individual product page larger?

Thanks

Hi,
1) This is not possible without major code changes.

2) You can hide the sidebar with following code:

.single_sidebar.template-shop .sidebar {
display: none;
}

It's not easily possible to extend the width of the content/product area on the left side because this would break other theme layouts/features.

3) Plugins like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ allow you to filter the sidebar content. Put the widgets into the "displayed everywhere" widghet areas and filter the product categories with following code/condtional:

is_tax( 'product_cat', 'Cars' )

The widget will be displayed when the user views the "Cars" product category. Obviously you can use insert any other category :)

4) Go to this page: http://www.kriesi.at/support/profile/biggatings and click on "Edit" to change your account details.

Hi,
Just have to say that I love your work... I have a couple of your themes and am very happy with them. I do however have a few issues with Abundance.

I am doing a web-to-print site and I have some business cards, christmas cards etc that I want to offer for customization and sale. So here are my questions:

1. Is there a way to mouse over the business card and instad of it showing "Show Details" have it zoom in on the card so that people can see it? or even enlarge the image on mouse over?

2. In my product display, say the business card category, I have the side bar there with all of my subpages etc and I really dont want that. I would like a full-size page rather than 1 with a sidebar.

3. Because of the fact that there are 4 different categories that have customizing options, is it possible to create a side bar that only shows on the "Business card" products and then 1 that only shows on the xmas cards product pages etc?

Also, just a general question for this forum... is there a wat for me to change my password to log into support? and add other themes that I have purchased?

Thanks

Michael
