The popular post component uses following query to display the posts:

avia_get_post_list('cat=&orderby=comment_count&posts_per_page='.$posts);

As you can see it orders the results based on the comment count - thus posts with more comments are considered as "popular". The widget (and wordpress) do not track eg the number of clicks/views which would be more accurate but (from the technical point of view) it's hard to achieve...

Hi Stephen,

I know the description of the combo widget says there's a Recent Comments component but even the demo doesn't show a tab for Recent Comments so I'm going to confirm with Kriesi if this is in fact the case. As far as the popular posts, I can't answer that question so I'm going to tag the rest of the support team to see if they can.

Regards,
Mya

Hi,

There is something odd with the avia combo widget on my website. http://teu.ac.nz

It's not showing comments and most of the popular posts all date back to 2011 only showing posts from this year that I know have been more popular. Any suggestions? I've tried making changes to class-framework-widgets.php but can't figure it out. Is there any way to time limit the popular posts (e.g. within the last six months?) and any suggestions for why I am not getting comments showing on the widget.

Gratefully, Stephen
