You can change the thumbnail height. Open up functions.php and search for:

$avia_config['imgSize']['portfolio'] 		 	= array('width'=>465, 'height'=>346);						// images for portfolio entries (2,3,4 column)

Decrease the height value and regenerate the thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Hey,

Try to edit and increase the image HEIGHT - the width will not make any difference here, but NOT with the built-in wordpress editor do it with Photoshop or Preview or whatever app you got, as far as I know it will not work if you increase the height after upload, try to edit the image before and then upload it again...

Hope it helps..

Hi
I have a problem with the way one item is displaying. There is a white space under one item. I cannot figure out why there is a space on the one but no other. I have tried changing the image size and replacing. Is there an optimum size for portfolio items? I noticed on your live demo the images are quite large. I notice that images at 600px or larger seem to work well. Anyway I don't know how to fix it.

Hey,
you need to create portfolio pages for each horse race. Actually these pages aren't sub portfolios but "standard" portfolios - sub portfolios aren't supported at the moment. Then you create one portfolio where you enter the urls to the different horse race portfolio sites as custom fields for the portfolio entries. These entries will link to the other portfolio pages afterwards.

thanks, that worked perfectly to get the custom fields option, however, now I can't seem to get any portfolio entries to show on the "sub" portfolio. When I click on an image in the main portfolio it just links to the generic page I created, not showing any portfolio entries.

Sorry forgot to mention that :( -
You need to modify the portfolio options to support custom fields. To do this, open /theme_options/portfolio.php and find this code (around line 59):

$args = array(
        	'labels' => $labels,
        	'public' => true,
        	'show_ui' => true,
        	'capability_type' => 'post',
        	'hierarchical' => false,
        	'rewrite' => array('slug'=>$slugRule,'with_front'=>true),
        	'query_var' => true,
        	'show_in_nav_menus'=> false,
        	'menu_position' => 5,
        	'supports' => array('title','thumbnail','excerpt','editor','comments')
        );

Change the supports to include custom fields like this:

$args = array(

Hey,
you can use custom fields to enter custom links. In template_portfolio.php replace:

echo "<a href='".get_permalink()."' class='more-link'>".__('Read more','cleancut')."</a>";

with:

if (get_post_meta($post->ID, 'website', true) != ''){
echo "<a href='".get_post_meta($post->ID, 'website', true)."' class='more-link'>".__('Go to Portfolio','cleancut')."</a>";
}else{
echo "<a href='".get_permalink()."' class='more-link'>".__('Read more','cleancut')."</a>";
}

Then create custom fields called "website" for each portfolio entry and enter the portfolio url you want to link to.

Hello, I am setting up an extensive portfolio to showcase various sale horses.
The main portfolio will list all the categories of horses and I'd like each portfolio entry to link to a portfolio page that showcases the horses of that type available for sale.

Could anyone walk me through how to link a portfolio entry to another portfolio? Right now it is just linking to a static page.

Hey,

If you upload an image then click "Use as Featured Image" it'll show up everywhere according to the size specified for the specific page. If you delete an image but don't remove it from the posts featured image WP still thinks it's there and will try to load it - hence the placeholder but no image.

The featured image is a WordPress function and not specific to the theme so the documentation can be found in the WordPress Codex.

Please define what you mean by "content resource" and "image resource".

Hi,

I love this template, but I'll love it even more when I figure out why I'm having these issues...

I can't upload a feature image without it being posted to the page content. I tried to change the feature image on the home page from the Avisio to the client's image and it wouldn't change the feature image - it put it in the content resource. Thinking it was because there was a feature image there, I removed the image. Now it won't finish loading the image url. Just sits and spins for up to an hour.

The site is being built on http://witnword.com/preview2 and will be moved to the real site when complete.The feature image shows up as the slider background because I put it in the php. But I can't change the Avisio logo thumbnail and I can't create a feature image for the page. There is no button on the image window to save as feature image. I only have one for 'insert in post'. Help! What is wrong here?

Frustrated with that, I thought I would start creating portfolio pages so I can do away with the demo portfolios. I created a portfolio image resource but the image isn't showing on the page.

I would so appreciate it if someone could help me fix whats wrong or tell me where I'm not doing something right. There is nothing about the feature image in the template documentation.

Thanks :)
