Hi,

You are using an old version of the theme. Current version is 1.6 and you have 1.4 .. I believe one of the updates fixed the mobile hover issue with the video. Please login to themeforest.com using the account you've purchased the theme with, and download the update. Please be aware that the update will require ftp to install and will overwrite all theme files including custom.css so please make sure to create a backup first.

Thanks,

The image shows up just fine, with a play button overlay, but trying to interact with it causes absolutely nothing to happen. At one point, I managed to hit just the right area, and tap at it multiple times, and the video loaded. I'm not sure if YouTube made a change on their end, but the functionality has been broken for a little while now.

I can't find out why using a preview image breaks the functionality of YouTube videos embedded in a post -

http://danmerhar.com/2012/12/13/orbital-wonky-music-video/

It is happening on both of my Android devices - Nexus 7 and LG G2X. One of them is using Chrome, and the other is using whatever the default browser used to be.

Any ideas?

You can add a post/page element to the template. Set the "Which Content?" option to "Display the content of this post/page". By going this way the element will always show the content of the current entry and you don't need to create a template for each post/page.

Yes, I understand the big image need. Our shop is very image based (thus our name ImageAbility) the issue I struggle with is the cropping and aspect ratio problems. But back to the question on this thread.

I set up a dynamic template with nothing in it. Assigning it to the page eliminates all the content I have in that page now, not just the preview image. I would have to set up a template and enter information for all our pages as different templates. Am I missing something? I must be it must be so simple it is looking back at me.

The most important thing to remember when working with images is to use *big* images. That way they can always be re-sized down to fit the various theme uses.

Thanks Devin, let me take a look at that. Sounds simple enough. Better than the code changes we have made in the past with Newscast to do the same thing.

I have to tell you though, I am having a hard time getting my hands around the image management issue. I think we need a "thumbnails for dummy's guide, but that would be another thread.

Hi SteveYoung,

You can create a new dynamic template with the template builder that only has the page content element on it and then assign it to that page. That should make it so the page displays without any kind of slideshow.

Trying to set up "Columns" on the home page that have images and page titles in them that link to a page.

Content set to "Single Page" Page set to the page I want, "display page" set to "Preview image and post title"

Adding image to "featured media" in page brings it up on the home page. However it also brings it up at the top of the page. Since it is a different aspect ratio I do not want the image there. (I don't want it there regardless)

How do I turn it off on the page but have it in the Columns display on the home page.

I tried "Logo Partner List" as a workaround but that only shows the image not the title of the page and the image.

Hi,

Before you *upload any images* , please compress them here http://www.smushit.com/ysmush.it/ . (just upload them, and then get them back lean and fast. Each of your images is 4 megabytes in size! So the reason nothing loads is because your front page is as big as a small movie.I compressed just 4 images using the above URL 99% (10 megabytes less) without any loss in quality. Your customers and visitors will thank you.

hello

the plugin works perfectly!

a little confusing is - you have to change the 'shop_catalog size' and not the intended 'portfolio size',
what could be a problem if the shop catalogue and portfolio should have different thumbnail sizes.

but nevertheless it works great - thanks a lot!!

Hi,

The best way to go about it, is to first install the Simple Image Sizes plugin ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ ). The plugin will give you complete control over all images in the theme -from aspect ratio, to width, whether to crop the image, and even has a built in thumbnail regenerator.

After installing the plugin, you will find your Settings > Media page in the backend to contain the various sizes. Then simply find the dimensions you want to change. Save. Regenerate the images and see if you like what you see or want to tweak the image sizes further.

Thanks,

Hi burn4ever,

I'm not quite sure what you mean in your first question. Do you have a link to a page showing what you have so far?

For the second question, you can add 'crop'=>false to the images you want to not be cropped in the functions.php file in your theme files.

Hello,
I can´t finde the class to make the preview image always visible. I´ve managed in the priview-image class to show the picture by loading the page but the hover of the entry is activ. So when leaving the article withe the mouse the image disappears.

How can I deactivate that?

And second question:

Some preview images are trimmed/cropped. Is there a way to create them dynamicly, so that the preview-image size will fit to the image and didn´t cut out any information of the picture?

You could remove the inclusion of the image at the top of your pages and then manually put the image in again. This way you'd have your featured image as a preview and any other image at the top of your page.

To do this you can go in your theme folder to includes. Open up loop-page.php.
Remove

<?php
 //call the function that displays featured images and slideshows within posts
 $slider = new avia_slideshow(get_the_ID());
 echo $slider->display_small($avia_config['size']);
 ?>

and

<h1 class='post-title'>

	</h1>

Now you can just put your image in the post through the upload media feature. You can also include H1's to get the title back. Let us know if this works for you :)

I Chris,

Im happy with the actual sizes of the preview images being 300px x 170px so dont need to change the sizes, but when I upload an image to the page using the featured image tool for the image on the page I have to create that image the size needed for the page at 620px x 200px then the automatic cropping and sizing for the preview image outputs at the right size but not the correct part of the image, so important parts of the picture are cropped.

How can I upload an image for the page and only the page and then upload a seperate image for the preview image. This way I can create a seperate image showing the correct parts of the image at 300px x 170px and not let the automatic cropping of the wrong parts of the image happen?

thanks
James

Hey,

in your functions.php file you'll find all the image sizes. When you upload a new image it'll automatically create these - try changing the values to your liking and then re-upload your image, it should now create new thumbnails/other image sizes to your liking.

Let us know if it works or if ou have any questions :)

Hi there,

I have had a look through the forum and cant find an answer, i might be missing it.

Currently trying to setup 3 pages and the home page to have the 3 columns with 3 preview images and excerpt linking to each page. When I add the featured image required for the page being 620px x 200px this looks perfect but it crops the image for the homepage preview to be 300px x 170px and misses important parts of the picture.

Is there a way I can have a seperate image for the page and the preview? so I can create the image how I want it to look the correct size before hand?

thanks
James

Hey,

There are a couple of ways to do this, the first and most obvious is to not add an image to the post.

Assuming you do want to add a featured image for use on other areas of the site, you need to modify this code:

<?php
 if($preview_image)
 {
 echo '<div class="entry-previewimage rounded preloading_background">';
 echo $preview_image;
 echo '</div>';
 }

 ?>

in single.php, adding WordPress Conditional Tags around the code so it won't show up on specific posts.
