Hi Bendobd86,

As far as I know there isn't a normal output for them with WooCommerce. The only things that show on the product are what gets entered in on the product page specifically. So the attribute description is just for backend/admin use.

Regards,

Does nobody know how?

I've experimented a bit with various codes and so far no success... I think the only possibility is to have another tab in the product description and put in the decription there ... ?!

No, I'm not aware of an easy way. Maybe you can use a hook or js function to check the cart items against the products in the shop loop and if they match you can add the icon. Personally I'd solve this with php but this definitely requires some coding...

Hi there,

do you guys know how the attribute description of two Attributes shows up in the product page?

I have a variable product in the shop, which comes in sizes "Large" and "Small" and the colours "black" and "white". So the attributes are "Colour" and "Size". When i filled in a description field for the parameter "black" (for example I wrote: "a shiny black") - it wont show in the actual product page. It does only show me under the field "additional information" that my variable product comes in colours "black" and "white" and in sizes "large" and "small" ...

Is there any possibilty to also show the description?

Thanks in advance!

You can check somewhere like odesk or maybe codeable.io for a freelancer to do the customization.

As for the the other issue, make a new topic for it when you get back. I'm going to close this one for now so we don't get off the main topic and to keep things easier for searching/indexing.

Hi Nick,

I will be away for a week from today, so I won't be able to proceed on this until I get back in any case. I understand it is not a pure support topic as the theme works fine, I just would like it modified. I'll have a look at jquery sites when I get back but am happy for someone to freelance on this. I would like the captions to behave in the way outlined above... and while we are there it would also be good if the thumbnails could keep their original proportions rather than square - if that can be possible.

Regards,

Hi,

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was hitting you up for some cash. I will let the other team members know but if I were you, I would search on either a jquery showcase site or a site with lots of themes that have effects on portfolio thumbnails, till you find something nearly identical, because its much easier to adapt and modify something then to create an effect like that.

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

Yes I am looking for a change to the background slider thumbnail caption. Currently the caption appears on mouseover of the the thumbnail but disappears when the mouse is moved off. I would like the caption to stay for 5 seconds UNLESS the mouse is moved to another thumbnail and then it will be replaced by that thumbnail's caption.. Or alternatively the caption could be displayed on clicking on the thumbnail and only disappears when either the main image or another thumbnail is clicked... I think either of these two options will allow me to hyperlink to another page from the caption, which is what I'd really like to do.

If this can't be done I will need to change all my galleries to the flexible grid gallery which is something I would prefer not to do if possible - would like my images displayed in the background slider...

I am hoping there is a fix for this???

Thanks in advance again if you can help here...

Hi Devin,

Not sure why but I am encountering the same problem as before - the title/caption of the background thumbnails moves upwards and disappears as soon as you take the cursor away from the thumbnail, thus preventing me clicking on a hyperlink that I've made in the caption...

Is there any way of changing the behaviour of the caption of the thumbnail so that it stays visible and does not move for a period of time after a thumbnail is clicked?

This wasn't a problem recently but it seems to have recurred...maybe it is something to do with the settings of the background slider but I've changed a few things and it doesn't seem to help...

Thanks for your help!!!

Glad that worked for you :)

I don't think anything like that will ever be added in to the theme simply because the shortcode functionality is the proper implementation of that. Even in Kriesi's new theme all of the layouts are done using shortcodes simple because its a great way to handle these kinds of layouts.

Thank you Devin.

This is a work-around we can make use of.

Perhaps in the future, you can build this functionality (ability to add direct links to individual images) within your "Products," "Product Slider," and "Slider" page elements, within your template builder...?

For those of us who not adept PHP coders, making use of the tools you provide in order to maintain consistency in our web design is essential.

Hi Lyana,

I would use a regular page to build that section. Use the themes shortcodes for columns and arrange the images in the columns and set them as the links you want.

Then in the frontpage template, add a page content element and have it set to that page so that it outputs the image navigation how you want.

We are trying to use your Replete demo Home Page as a model for our Home Page, which can be see at this link: http://www.nationalsafetysupply.com.php53-8.dfw1-1.websitetestlink.com/

On your Replete demo Home Page, we see you have a Main Slider, a "Featured Products" slider and then an "Our most recent collections" section.

On our site, we would like to show twelve images, in place of the section you call "Our most recent collections," that, when clicked, would take you to our Category pages.

For example: If you look at the first image in our section "Products By Category," you will see the Bosch AutoDome 800 HD PTZ Camera. Right now, when clicked, this takes you to a Product Detail page.

Instead, we would like to use the camera as a featured image with the description "Security Systems," that would simply link to a Category Page for that topic. And treat all twelve images the same way.

We cannot see how to do this within your theme.

In reviewing this post, I realize I was not very clear in communicating what our problem is, but I did not see a way to delete or edit the post. So, please ignore this post. I will re-state the question under another thread.

How can we add a url link to individual images, while maintaining your shop image style? We tried using your "product" element, (and like the presentation), but see no way to add a URL to each image.

We need product images to lead to their respective product category pages (not just the product detail pages), because we will have one page dedicated to each category. (i.e. a shoe image in our "products by category" section would lead to a page that shows all shoes in our store, and a hat image would lead to a page that shows all hats.)

There doesn't appear to be a way to add url links to images loaded into the product section, only randomly generated images, based on categories chosen.

We really love the shop feel of your product element. However, the only functional way to show an image with url was your logo/partner wall, that generates cropped images that don't have your shop style image thumbnails.

What are we missing?

Thanks!

Sorry about the confusion. I tried your code and it moved the stock Propulsion Social Media links BUT I was referring to the SHARE icons that are created using a Social Share plugin.

I just disabled Product Attributes completely for now so you will not be able to see it.

Hi,

I see three H1 tags on the page you provided, 1 is logo, 1 is page title, 1 is product title. I don't see any attributes, just the same phrase that matches the page slug, and title.

==

To move the social buttons. You will need to open up functions.php at the base of the theme and cut (ctrl-x) lines 198-204 that look like

echo '<ul class="social_bookmarks">';
do_action('avia_add_social_icon','header');
if($dribbble = avia_get_option('dribbble')) echo "<li class='dribbble'><a href='http://dribbble.com/".$dribbble."'>".__('Follow us on dribbble', 'avia_framework')."</a></li>";
if($twitter = avia_get_option('twitter')) echo "<li class='twitter'><a href='http://twitter.com/".$twitter."'>".__('Follow us on Twitter', 'avia_framework')."</a></li>";
if($facebook = avia_get_option('facebook')) echo "<li class='facebook'><a href='".$facebook."'>".__('Join our Facebook Group', 'avia_framework')."</a></li>";
echo '	<li class="rss"><a href="'.avia_get_option('feedburner',get_bloginfo('rss2_url')).'">RSS</a></li>';
echo '</ul>';

and paste the above block right before line 593 of /config-woocommerce/config.php

echo "div class='product_column product_column_".$avia_config['shop_single_column']."'>";

That's it. However you may need to figure out specifically where you want the buttons to appear since right now they will be on top of the related products. You may need to adjust the location by trying 597 and other lines as the place to paste the code you cut from the first page.

Thanks,

Nick

Was there ever a better fix for this? I am having duplicates so I used the code above to completely remove the short description tab from the product but I hope there is a better solution coming through soon.

Forgive me for thread hijacking for a minute but could you please also look at my site http://goo.gl/F64a2 and help with two things regarding the tabs:

1) Why is Product Attributes showing as H1 heading?
2) How can I get the social share button below everything and right above the "related products" section?

Thanks.

Hi - found the solution myself for linking from a caption in a gallery. Seems to work fine now but it previously wasn't when I posted this for some reason...

Would still possibly like to make a link in a prettyphoto box but that can probably wait for now...
