Hi,

The best way to go about it, is to first install the Simple Image Sizes plugin ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ ). The plugin will give you complete control over images: setting constraints for specific locations like blog, thumbnails, portfolio, gallery, shop, etc. along with the ability to set whether to crop an image or not in Settings > Media.

Changing the dimensions of images does NOT automatically change all the images already uploaded but only affects new uploads. To change the sizes of images already uploaded, you will need to use the Regenerator - also a part of the Simple Image Sizes and found on the bottom of Settings Media. Don't forget that images scale down, so always upload images bigger (or the same) as the constraints you set in Settings > Media (with the plugin) or you will get blurry (stretched) or incomplete images.

Please provide a link.

Thanks,

Nick

I have had a look at the source code and the page uploads a 750px version of the image - I think that's the problem. I'm assuming its governed by css as none of my image sizes in simple image sizes are 750px.

Hi,

I decided I didn't need the right column at all and decided to enlarge the main content area further (200%):

.content .box {
min-width: 660px;
width: 200%;
}

However the product image now appears quite blurry despite using simple image sizes and regenerating image sizes...

Not sure which kind of image relates to these images - 'medium', 'blog', 'shop-single'? Anyway I enlarged them all and didn't see a change in the blurriness of the product image. I am wondering if it relates to css? Is there something else I can do?

Regards,

Hi Bendobd86,

Last time I checked duplicating a product wasn't possible with Flashlight because of the way the theme needs its own custom slideshow and the woocommerce duplicate function attaches both products to the same slideshow.

Not sure how it was able to work before but it shouldn't have.

Hi there,

I'm using your flashlight theme and woocommerce. When setting up the shop I used the "duplicate" function for creating several variable products. At that time everything worked smooth and fine, so the shop was set up in no time.

Now, a few days later, I wanted to add another product in the shop (say product "B"), also by using the "duplicate" function. For some reason the new product is always using the Article Image from the product ("A") I duplicated it from. Also, when changing the image to the one for product "B" and saving everything, the image goes back to the image for product "A".

Why does that happen now but worked fine before?? I didn't change any options or something like that... Also I couldn't find any information on that topic in the forum here...

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks for your answer. It seems odd that you cant control the gallery though. It means that if you want to replace an image, you have to totally re write the post or page. This is a great theme though, and for now, I can continue with it.

Hi jmdarter,

Unfortunately you can not use the woo commerce copy product to create new products with Flashlight. You'll need to create each new product individually or else the slideshow will be attached to each item copied.

The duplicate item feature was added after Flashlight was programmed to work with woo commerce and if Kriesi were to change the theme it would no cause anyone looking to update to completely rebuild their sites so there won't be support added for the function as far as I know.

Is there a way to change the product image in the gallery below the visual editor. I have copied the product to a new draft, but the image can't be changed, and if I delete it, it changes it in the original product post image as well.

Hi,

Thanks for a great theme,
The only problem I'm having the moment is that if you look at http://supplementcentral.co.za/home/
You will see that the product titles in the grid view is on the left, this causes it to clash with the product image of the image next to it.

Is there a way to increase the product spacing, or alternatively, centre the product title?

Thanks

Hey ATX,

You'll need to edit a function in one of the theme files. Open up config-woocommerce>config.php and search for:

echo get_the_post_thumbnail( get_the_ID(), 'shop_catalog' );
	echo $link;
	echo "<a class='button show_details_button $extraClass' href='".get_permalink($post->ID)."'>".__('Show Details','avia_framework')."</a>";
	if(!empty($rating)) echo "<span class='rating_container'>".$rating."</span>";

Replace that with:

echo "<a href='".get_permalink($post->ID)."'>".get_the_post_thumbnail( get_the_ID(), 'shop_catalog' )."</a>";
 echo $link;
 echo "<a class='button show_details_button $extraClass' href='".get_permalink($post->ID)."'>".__('Show Details','avia_framework')."</a>";
 if(!empty($rating)) echo "<span class='rating_container'>".$rating."</span>";

Now make sure to save the file back onto your server so that it replaces the old one and that should do it.

Hi,

In this theme unfortunately the product page template doesn't have a right sidebar. Its possible to add it, if the image of the wine bottle is moved to where you want it on top horizontally. However after looking at the code it would require significant modification and partial re-coding of multiple templates and helper files in the WooCommerce plugin. In my opinion this is outside the scope of the support team. Your best bet is to hire a WordPress freelancer who would be able to rebuilt the template as you see fit.

Thanks,

Thanks Nick,

1. Have double and triple checked the Theme Layout settings and it is definitely set to big image RIGHT sidebar. Have even tested having no sidebar and it still shows up on the left.

2. While having formatting issues on this page (still waiting on a response to a thread I created under the Flashlight theme section) I like the horizontal image about the description. http://jenturner.com.au/smallfry1/shop/2010-eden-valley-cabernet-sauvignon/. All of the products are wine bottles so a horizontal image works well for both the catalogue page and the single product page.

Hi,

1) Please set the sidebar in the backend Abundance > Theme Options > Layout & Settings as 'right sidebar' to have it show up on the right. Your code shows your sidebar currently is set as a 'left-sidebar'.

2) It is possible to make that modification but would require substantial rearrangement of the WooCommerce plugin code in multiple pages. (if i understand what you are asking correctly. Perhaps you could show me a url of the page you want to emulate so i can get a better idea).

Thanks,

Hi spacebunyip,

I'm not sure how to do that customization since the customization would require more on changing the html structure of the woocommerce plugin "single-product" template. I'll be tagging the rest of the support, to check this thread.

Regards,

Couple of questions in regards to the abundance theme.

1. Sidebar on Product pages

I know there have been many posts on this topic, and I have tried adding the following code to my custom css with no luck.
.container .clear {
clear: none !important;
}
Sidebar is still sitting to the left rather than right and below the product information. Any help would be appreciated.
Link to page - http://jenturner.com.au/smallfry2/?product=2008-barossa-shiraz

2. Product images
Is it possible to have the product image sit above the product information, similar to the flashlight theme?

This is actually one of the best concise explanations I have now read of how WP image management works, it cleared up a confusion I had about this too. As a relative Wordpress amateur I've found Wordpress's default image management to be unintuitive in some ways. I'm really looking forward to 3.5 and how they improve image management. Thanks Dude :)

Hi Dude,

Wow! No wonder I was so confused. You are right that WP image/media management doesn't work very well. Thank you for this excellent description of the current state of affairs. I too hope that WP 3.5 cleans this up. What a mess. Thanks again.

Best,

Hi,
the image/media managment of WP doesn't work very well (imho) but it's not a drawback of the theme but a general WP limitation. Afaik WP 3.5 will change the media gallery workflow dramatically and I hope this will simplify many things. However the situation now is:

1) If you upload an image on a post/page editor screen WP will attach this image to the current post/page. It will be part of the so-called "gallery". The "gallery" contains all images which are attached to a certain post/page and you can display these images by using the gallery shortcode: http://codex.wordpress.org/Gallery_Shortcode
Unfortunately it's not possible to attach one image to several posts/pages - thus you'd need to upload an image over and over again (for each post/page) if you want to make it part of several galleries. Hopefully this situation will change with WP3.5.

2) The media gallery contains all media files - regardless if they're attached to a post/page or not. You can insert these files by using the "Insert into Post" button but you can't attach them to posts if they're not already attached - thus you can't add them to post/page "galleries" too.

3) Kriesi's slideshow system tries to compensate these drawbacks - it creates a third layer which allows you to select existing files from the media gallery - regardless if they're attached to the current post/page or not. The third layer will save the selected slideshow files into a seperate post meta data field and it works independent from WPs media gallery.

4) WP generates all required thumbnails automatically. Unfortunately it's currently not possible to upload these thumbnails manually or to crop them manually. Again, this may change with WP3.5.
