Glad you were able to find a working solution! I only saw that the hd=1 or hd=0 method was no longer supported and not that you could use video quality as a parameter for the iframe so I'll take note of it :)

here is the right code for everyone: (youtube HD)
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Esj5juUzhpU?vq=hd720" width="940" height="480"></iframe>

Also code with different color player and HD stream! (working)
<iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Esj5juUzhpU?theme=light&color=red?vq=hd720" width="940" height="480"></iframe>

It looks like the new iframe way no longer supports forcing HD at all anymore. This was a change from google/youtube so if want to force HD, you would need to use the old embed code.

Hi Denis,

The size is set based on the container size. So in the portfolio, it adjusts to the grid size there, in the slider it adjusts to that size. Even then it wouldn't necessarily auto set the video to HD since the HD is only set at almost fullscreen size.

If you absolutely need to force HD, then I would suggest not adding the video to the theme slidshow areas and instead just embed it into the regular visual editor and set the iframe size to the full page width or content width of the page its set on.

Regards,

Hello Dude,

yes i understund but how can i change my video player size? Because you can only add video without any URL config. If you put URL with any changes you get this: http://imgupload.sk/images/1/m/1mvzpm87eidbqkpifd2u.png

How can i set my video to right size in portfolio section also in index slider?

Hi Lamaci,

It looks like the hd parameter is deprecated for embeds and can't be forced anymore. I tried a few tests but even just embedding an iframe using youtubes default code and adding the hd=1 parameter doesn't seem to do it anymore.

You may want to just make a note to remind everyone to turn HD on.

The thing is that I don't set that width, it's done either by wordpress or by the theme.
Here's the original blog post content:

[caption id="attachment_597" align="aligncenter" width="300"]<a href="http://blog.orestes.io/2012/11/23/image-quality-test-2/wallpaper-722590-5/" rel="attachment wp-att-597"><img src="http://blog.orestes.io/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/wallpaper-7225904-300x168.jpg" alt="The alt text" title="This is the title" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-597" /></a> This is a caption text[/caption]

It was created by doing a "Insert/upload". i didn't change anything but the caption, didn't touch any width/height parameters.
As you can see, there's no 310 anywhere.

Edit: Even if I managed to do that, I would still have problems with a 10px top and bottom padding:
http://imgur.com/a/ivj1h

I haven't seen anywhere a Sentence demo with images inside the post (not featured on the gallery), so I don't know how they should look but I don't think this is on par with the quality of the rest of the theme. I can add my own CSS if needed, bu I need to get right of the 310 inline style and I don't known where is it coming from.

Thank you!

I checked the source code and it seems like the attachment container inline css code causes the issue - the code is:

<div id="attachment_597" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://blog.orestes.io/2012/11/23/image-quality-test-2/wallpaper-722590-5/" rel="attachment wp-att-597"><img src="http://blog.orestes.io/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/wallpaper-7225904-300x168.jpg" alt="The alt text" title="This is the title" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-597" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">This is a caption text</p></div>

and as you can see the width of the container is 310px whereas the image is set to a width of 300px. Change style="width: 310px" to style="width: 300px" and you'll fix the issue.

Hi there!

If you take a look at http://blog.orestes.io/2000/11/01/image-quality-test/ you'll see I'm using a Image Post format and the image looks quite blurry.
The original uploaded image was FullHD 1920x1080.

I took a look around the support forum and at http://www.skidoosh.co.uk/php/wordpress-jpeg-thumbnail-image-quality-setting-and-adjustment/ and tryied adding

function jpeg_quality_callback($arg)
{
return (int)100;
}

add_filter('jpeg_quality', 'jpeg_quality_callback');

both at the start and at the end of the file but It doesn't seem to have any effect :(

I made sure I regenerated the thumbnails with a plugin.

I'm not sure what can I try now... can you help me?
Edit: It just started working. I didn't have any cache plugins enabled thought...

Now I have a problem with the images inside the post, the border around them is looking weird, like it's missing the left-side padding:
http://blog.orestes.io/2000/11/01/image-quality-test-2/

Let me know if I should open a new thread for this other question.

Thank you!

Hi makproductions06,

My advice would be the same. Just to give you a little bit of extra info, each time you upload an image with wordpress it creates a series of alternate sized files for use with the various theme options. Each image is resized based on the code in functions.php.

So like in any image editing application, when you stretch a small image to fit a large space it loses quality (generally). Using a large image for the initial upload means that it gets sized down and preserves the quality for all the other various uses.

Regards,

You shouldn't need to change any of the files, maybe some custom CSS. It's tough to troubleshoot your situation without being able to see your settings in depth. But I've used Propulsion/Abundance to setup various shops and using really small photos can sometimes mess up the layout. Here is what I would do:
-use larger photos for your products, it looks like you only uploaded a 290x216 photo (?), if you have access to a bigger photo upload that, at least 400x300 or 600xsomething
-these are the image settings (they might be the default) I used for a Propulsion shop that I think would work well for you: catalog images at 450x355, single product at 450x355, thumbs at 80x80, uncheck hard crop for all

I bet if you use a larger initial upload photo for your product, that will solve your problem.

That is the admin area the will affect your store images, not necessarily the general WP>Settings>Media.

http://journeyfilms.mbtdesigns.com/shop/

I think this has been asked before, but I still can't figure out what is wrong.

store thumbnails are blurry. I inspected "element" and it shows the thumbnail as 150x150 but then the size on the page is set to 212x212.

I edited image thumbnail in media to be 212x212 and regenerated thumbnails but still the same.

Anybody?

Hey!

Yes, all newer themes don't use timthumb.

Regards,

Hi colorit2,

As far as I know, the theme doesn't modify the image quality. There is a setting in the core wordpress files to set the uploaded thumbnails to 90% quality but I *think* those uploaded with the Avia framework bypass this.

If you'd like to try and change that, you'll need to open the media.php file inside wp-includes and change the setting there. Its on line 410.

Regards,

Hi,

I hadn't found anything like a timthumb file within the CORONA files ... where, in which file can I change the image quality?
Thanks.
