Ok, so I did everything you said to do. This is what happened... I got rid of the RSS feed, and where the RSS feed was I can now scroll over that and it will have a link to go to Pinterest. The only thing is that my my facebook and twitter icons are still the same round gray, and where I thought my Pinterest logo would be, it is completely blank. You can see at http://www.bpoyandjo.com/sneakpeek

This leads me to believe I did my icon replacement wrong. When I went to go find my new icons, I googled the icon images, found ones I liked, shrunk the size own to be VERY small, saved it as a .png file, and then replaced the image files with those... so I am supposing I did that wrong?

How would replace these correctly?

ALSO, am I able to fit four link/icons in that area? I wanted to add in Instagram too... how would I go about doing that if possible?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Hi Casey,

It is through your files located on your host site. You can access it via ftp.

I'm sorry if this is such a lame question, but when you tell me go into such things like "wp-content/themes/flashlight/images/skin-minimal/" is that through when I am in wordpress (if so, where do I find it?) or is it through my files in my host site? Or somewhere else that I am not even mentioning?

I have found kind of what you are mentioning but I'm not sure if it is exactly it, and I just want to double check before I go changing around everything!

Thank you for answering this basic question! :)

Hi Casey,

You can change the color by replacing the images found in wp-content/themes/flashlight/images/skin-minimal/. The following are the images you need to replace:

-icons-rounded-facebook.png
-icons-rounded-rss.png
-icons-rounded-twitter.png

As for the pinterest, kindly open wp-content/themes/flashlight/sidebar.php and find this code:

echo "		<li class='rss'><a href='".avia_get_option('feedburner',get_bloginfo('rss2_url'))."'>RSS</a></li>";

replace it with:

echo '	<li class="pinterest"><a href="http://your_pinterest_url">Pinterest</a></li>';

replace http://your_pinterest_url with your pinterest account url.

Then add this code in your Quick CSS or custom.css:

.social_bookmarks .pinterest a {
background: transparent url(../images/icons-pinterest.png) 0 0 no-repeat;
}

Finally add your icon in wp-content/themes/flashlight/images/ make sure you name it icons-pinterest.png

Hope this helps.

HI there,

I have a few questions regarding the social media icons displayed on the Flashlight theme:

-Can I change the color? I would like the Facebook icon to be "Facebook" blue, and twitter to be "twitter" blue.

-Can I change the size? My site is heavily focused on social media and I would like them larger to stand out.

-Can I add Pinterest to the list of icons on the bottom? And possible remove the RSS feed icon? The removal of the RSS is still a maybe but I definitely need to add Pinterest.

Thanks in advance for your help!

This code won't work. You need to change the thumbnail size by modifying following line:

$postimage = avia_image_by_id($slides[0]['slideshow_image'],'thumbnail');

Replace "thumbnail" with another size like:

$postimage = avia_image_by_id($slides[0]['slideshow_image'],'featured_small');

// THIS INCLUDES THE THUMBNAIL IN OUR RSS FEED
}

Hi,

So I am guessing you want a related blog posts to show up for every single blog post on the page of the blog home.

Please open template-blog.php located at the base of the theme, and between lines 52-53 please paste the following

get_template_part( 'includes/related-posts');

when you are finished, lines 52-53 should look like

get_template_part( 'includes/loop', 'index' );
get_template_part( 'includes/related-posts');

Just in case there is a problem be ready to revert back, so do not try this on your live site unless you have an ftp program ready to undo the changes.

Thanks,

Hi there,

amazing theme! I am trying to make the "related posts" area that is in the single blog post on Angular to show up in the blog feed, kind of like this girl has on her blog: http://www.mstetson.com/
I have the blog settings on my website set so that people can read the full blogs from the main blog page without having to click into individual posts. This is why I want it on that main blog page after the end of blogs.

Thanks for your help,

Hi LC,

We really can't troubleshoot why a third party service isn't picking up the rss feed properly. All I can say is make sure that everything is being entered in correctly with feedburner and that you are following all of its directions for set up.

The RSS feed is outputting correctly so from that point of view, it should work.

When I type in the url, http://artbazz.com/feed or http://artbazz.net/feed -- I get the url -page not found. How do I remedy this, the page is there with the code.

Hey!

I couldn't find such a symbol (or any code) on line 37. It points to:

// Feedburner filter URL

which is just a php comment and the php code interpreter will ignore it. Maybe contact the plugin author and ask him what causes the error.

Solved!
Wasn't the tweetmeme plugin (I don't have it installed, don't know how it came to appear there), but restarting w3 total cache did the trick.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Yes, i see the problem, there is a broken tag at the very begining of the rss content. Looking at the page the break is caused by one of your plugins giving a 404 error - Tweetmeme

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404

(TweetMeme button shutdown) http://tweetmeme.com/i/scripts/button.js

Would you please update or disable the plugin and see if the problem goes away. Also it looks like your w3 total cache plugin is not functioning correctly since its not minimizing the content while comment on bottom of source says it is. Perhaps once that twitter plugin starts working everything will fall back into place.

Thanks,

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Forget feedburner, it was just an example. If I go straight to the feed URL (http://www.leemaslibros.com/feed), copy it and paste into a RSS subscriber like GReader, the last post is not shown.

Found where the redirect is at (in a plugin file).

Now I just need to figure out how to disable the redirect

Here is the code for the plugin file:

<?php
class WPHubspotSocial {

    function WPHubspotSocial() {
// FeedBurner Integration Hooks
add_filter('feed_link', array(&$this, 'hs_feedburner_feed_link'), 1, 2);
if(is_admin()){
//
} else {
add_action('template_redirect', array(&$this, 'hs_feed_redirect'));
}
}
//=============================================
// Replace RSS with Feedburner
//=============================================

    function hs_feed_redirect() {
global $feed;

Thanks for the response Ismael, but I've already tried that.

The default feed continues to redirect to the feedburner feed URL.

Is there anywhere else in the theme where this redirect could be triggering (besides the .htaccess file where it is not in there)?

An employee of mine accidentally deleted our Feedburner account when trying to fix a feed error.

In doing so they forgot to select the redirect option upon cancellation so now our Wordpress feed still redirects to the Feedburner URL.

It seems as though there has to be a way to remove this redirect from our Wordpress site, but I cannot seem to find where this would be. I have checked our .htaccess file and I have made sure that the theme settings are not using the Feedburner URL.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
