Hi,

Just add this at the very bottom of style.css to fix the header height.

#wrapper_head .center {
padding: 0px 20px 60px 20px !important;
}

And try this to fix the menus.

#top .nav a {
padding: 2px 6px !important;
}

Hello,

Beautiful themes and nicely organized site...I've been using avisio quite happily for nearly a year now. But now...

I have tried over and over to change the height of my header to accommodate a larger logo, (including the code below) and nothing works. It works when i do it in inspect element in the browser, but when i put the code in the child theme css, nada.

#wrapper_head{
position: relative;
z-index: 100;
overflow: visible;
height:150px;
}

http://www.oasistroncones.com/

As you can see, the logo is overlapping into the slider. Not good.

Please help??

Thanks very much,

Glad you figured it out. If you are new to Wordpress it can take a while to understand how things work. A Devin said, the dummy content is very useful to see how all the different elements work in the Shoutbox theme.

If you are going to start changing your css I would recommend changing the custom.css file which is inside the wp-content/themes/shoutbox/css/ folder of your online archives. Make a copy of it to your desktop, make the changes and then upload the new file to that same address in your online site, replacing the file that is already there.

A great way to learn how css work is to use Firebug, which is an add on you can get for Firefox. You use the select option to highlight the piece of the page you want to examine/change and Firebug displays the css code for you. You can even change the code inside firebug and play around with the page you are viewing to see what effect the changes make, before copying and saving the changes to your custom.css file.

Other browsers probably have tools for examining web pages too.

You should also make regular backups of your site files (the files and the database) as you go along in case something crashes along the way. The database is stored in a different place. You need to access phpmyadmin in your server control panel to get to it. There are some useful plugins for WP that can help with backups to save you doing it manually, but its good to know how to do it the long way, just in case.

Good luck. We were all new at this once - don't worry!

:O)

Hi :) I imported the dummy content by clicking the "import" button in the theme admin panel, and a lot of content was added :)

BUT: i would really love for the dummy content to be as the preview at themeforest, where advertising boxes and all are in place.

Call me silly, but this is how my friend wants his site to look like, and it would probably mean a simple export for the support team (i hope),
otherwise i would spend soooo much time figuring out how to put this all in... I am not trying to be lazy, i will still have to do a lot of work...

The imported site can be seen here: http://www.neemvakantie.nl/files and the preview at TF is here... : http://www.kriesi.at/themedemo/?theme=shoutbox

Please have patience, i am new at this...

thanks for any help!!!! Lesley

Ok you've two possibilities:

1) The recommeded one: Just use the menu manager instead of the auto generated menu. You'll get the same results like in the demo.
Go to you admin panel > appearance > menu
There you'll find the new Wordpress 3.0 menu editor. Here you can create your own menu via drag'n'drop.

OR:

2) Open style1.css and insert following code at the end of the file:

.nav li a {
display:block;
font-size:14px;
font-weight:normal;
}

I wasn't at all looking to adjust the spacing of the header, I was looking to match the style with the demo website so that the font and subtitles look identical as in the example comparison image I posted above; which shows the differences I'm trying to fix.

Just change the height of wrapper_head. Open style.css - here you'll find following code:

#wrapper_head{
position: relative;
z-index: 100;
overflow: visible;
}

change it to
overflow: visible;
height:200px;

You can set the value of height to anything you like - set it to an higer value so that the vertical separators between each topic don't reach the blue horizontal bar.

Hi,

Firstly I apologize if this question is addressed somewhere that I was unable to find; I searched at length on the forums here in the terms "menu style" and "menu font" and was unable to find what I'm looking for.

Basically the menu that comes up in the demo page with the sample data imported looks very different from the sample page;

http://www.w1cked.com/menuissue.png

Now, obviously I know I have to add the descriptions and re-organize the menu order myself that's no problem - but I'm hung up on getting the style exactly the same just as a starting point -- how would I go about having exactly the same starting menu style as the sample theme (pictured above)? It seems like this was left out of the .css or sample data?

Best regards,
